I would rate the costliness of the solution as an eight out of ten. The licensing costs for the solution vary based on user count, so there is no fixed value. It depends on factors like the number of users and specific needs.

A person should pay towards the licensing costs of VMware Identity Manager on a yearly or monthly basis, but government and public sector units cannot for a perpetual licensing model. VMware recently increased the costs attached to the support offered to users. Some of the customers who use VMware have been complaining that the new costs for support add up to an additional 30 percent overhead costs if they decide to go for renewal.

In terms of pricing, it's reasonable if you have the Workspace ONE solution. If you don't have the full solution, it's quite expensive. There are no extra costs beyond the standard licensing fee.
The solution is licensed per user. It's part of their advanced package, and it comes together with the MDM part. Depending on your needs, the license can be $40, $60, or $100 per year. It's an SaaS subscription.

There are two ways that you can license the Identity Manager and you can choose the one that works best for you. You can pay on a monthly basis, which is called VCPP (VMware Cloud Provider Program), or you can buy a perpetual license that you pay for only once. When it comes to usage licensing, you can pay for concurrent usage, pay on a per-user basis, or pay on a per-device basis. We pay approximately $6.50 per user for the standard version. If you are paying for an enterprise license that includes VDI then it will cost approximately $25 per user on a monthly basis. In addition to the standard licensing fees, you need some kind of database that you need a separate license for. Also, if you are using the cloud-based deployment then you will have to license a connector.
The price is high. Also, the infrastructure requirements are huge. We're looking at three locations then I'm also looking at connectivity in between locations and then I'm also looking at the application.
