In terms of improvement, I would like better integration for deploying programs with binary files. As for future releases, I hope to see features like seamless migrations with collaboration tools to simplify tasks, especially for devices like IP phones and Cisco Call Manager.

There is a need for better user lifecycle management within VMware Identity Manager, along with better user governance, including the separation of duties of the users. In my company, we are not able to create a policy for the separation of duties of the users, so it is an area where improvement is required. The official authentication and fingerprint authentication should be part of VMware Identity Manager, and I feel these areas are currently missing. The scalability of the product needs to improve. The product should be tightly integrated with the third-party products because it's not like a customer is going to purchase all the VMware products, as they might have different solutions for different purposes.

There are a lot of difficulties whenever people have a lot of configurations in it, basically related to security certificate configurations and integration with VMware Horizon. I see technical people are sometimes struggling to do this. I don't know whether it is some knowledge gap or whether it is the difficulty of the product. However, there have been some cases where we've had issues, and the knowledge is not ubiquitous. You cannot find it easily. Not many engineers have the right training or knowledge to deal with it correctly. Technical support could be better. It would be great if it had some sort of password wallet integrated within it.
vIDM could be improved with the multi-tenant capabilities that VMware tends to offer—features like customization branding and the integration of the app catalog based on the branding. Since the integration has been at top-level OGs, you were not able to then do rebranding if you were required to use specific user groups to highlight specific applications. At the time, I was personally opening feature requests for these things. I haven't worked with the latest release, so I don't know if these features were already deployed or not.
Using the solution on Android requires a special setup, the mobile SSO doesn't work as well. It would be easier if it was integrated and we could do it similarly to the iOS SSO setup.

We have a lot of problems when it comes to integrating with Active Directory. Simply, it is not consistent when you configure it. When I compare this with other solutions, the customization is really limited when it comes to cataloging. Scaling this solution is difficult and it should be easier to do. It would be really great if, in the future, endpoint management was integrated into the Identity Manager dashboard. It would mean that a single dashboard could be used to control all of the features in this space.
I would like to integrate this solution with VRE and VDI. They can now be installed, but they operate as separate components. Many of the features that exist in Active Directory do not exist in Identity Manager, which means that people depend on Active Directory.
I think the product could be improved by making it more independent. For now, it's very dependent on an active directory so that you could basically tie into us for A, B or some other IDP that they provide. Another aspect that could be improved in the next release is to have local language support. It's not a big issue because you have their icon soft applications there, but it would be nice to have the Finnish language there as well. Additional features they could include would be integration with Microsoft Windows desktop, which is the VDI for Microsoft. I have heard that they plan to do that so I'm looking forward to getting that in there.
I would say that VMware has actually met all of our requirements. I don't feel like we presently need to actually have any improvements. It's actually a good fit, especially for our market. The security features could always use improvement, although there has already been a huge improvement from years ago.

I would like to have better support for multi-cloud sessions. The cost of this solution should be lower.
