In terms of stability, the performance parameters do come into play. It's good on the regular office front, however, on the development side, if somebody is using it in a development environment, they need to make some configuration changes in terms of what directories should be excluded from the real-time scanning. I had to do that kind of stuff. I don't do that with the Microsoft product, for example. It runs, and it scans the entire system with no issues. The solution is stable. Regular updates were available in the product versions. They were updated, and they gave regular signature updates also so that the product checked all the boxes.

The initial setup of the product is quite easy if an active directory is available. There may be some difficulty with the configuration for setting up the security features. The solution can be difficult to understand for a first-time user. A user needs to first search, read and pursue courses to understand ESET Endpoint Protection Platform, but other vendor solutions are comparatively easier to comprehend. I would rate the initial setup process an eight out of ten. The deployment process of ESET Endpoint Protection Platform took four hours in our organization. To execute the setup plan, the antivirus or firewall should run properly to block USBs in the workstation. The settings in the solution are quite ready to use, therefore not much customization is required during the setup process unless there is a need for special customization. As part of the setup process, the solution should be configured according to an organization's needs and environment. The cloud configuration can only involve setting the group name, assigning policies to that specific group, and making the tool available in search to all the workstations by pushing the agent. One professional is needed to deploy the ESET Endpoint Protection Platform, but another professional can be present to analyze in case of failures. For maintenance of the product, a dedicated professional is needed mostly for the first month to manage requests and make necessary adjustments in the solution. In our organization, if suddenly the solution stops functioning properly on the workstations, the log stations are rechecked by the in-house professionals. For instance, in such a service break incident, our organization professionals found the services had been requested on specific ports like web ports closed by ESET; therefore, adjusting the port was needed instead of scanning.

We use ESET or Avast typically. That's all. I know of Kaspersky and it is a very bad antivirus. I don't like it. I don't know why. I find lots of bugs in this software. Symantec, I'm aware of it, however, I don't use it. It's very hard for the computer. McAfee is good for beginners. We used to use Symantec and Norton. We switched from Symantec and Norton as they are very heavy on the computer. They slowed everything down.
