Anti-malware software deployed on all endpoints for security
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are the anti-malware and firewall policies. The runtime scans and execution have been beneficial to our business."
  • "The on-premises setup for Bitdefender sometimes faces issues with connectivity. Management of Windows Defender is a bit easier compared to Bitdefender."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for the anti-malware. We intend to replace Bitdefender with Windows Defender gradually. Bitdefender is deployed on all our endpoints.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the anti-malware and firewall policies. The runtime scans and execution have been beneficial to our business.

What needs improvement?

Windows Defender is becoming a default component of the Windows operating system. The on-premises setup for Bitdefender sometimes faces issues with connectivity. Management of Windows Defender is a bit easier compared to Bitdefender.

They need to increase their capability to scan cloud services.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

We faced issues in the past with customer support for this solution as we waited a long time for replies to emails.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend the cloud version of this solution because it is much more scalable. Bitdefender is a good product but there are other good competitors so it all depends on the use case.

I would rate the on-prem version an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Easy management of the endpoint protection. Very simple to use, understand, and apply its policies

How has it helped my organization?

We do not have any problems with viruses, cryptolockers, or other harmful threats.

What is most valuable?

Easy management of the endpoint protection. In simple words, it is awesome, very simple to use, understand, and apply its policies. Another feature is traffic scan, which protects the endpoints of harmful websites. It has direct impact on security, the email traffic scan, which is the last layer of protection in the organization, and based on today's threats, a very good option.

What needs improvement?

One thing that could be improved is more granularity and options on exclusions. I have some difficulty in allowing executables that were deployed every time on different locations.

Also, more options for admin endpoints clients.

For how long have I used the solution?

Two and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No issues. On this matter, it is absolutely awesome.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No issues. We started with 60 endpoints. Now, we are on 170 endpoints.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would rate the technical support as an eight out of 10. More flexibility from the technical staff would be very good. For example, I have a company-owned private application that was detected by AV as MIDAS3 (meaning that the application permit dll injection). The process to exclude globally the application was to send them the app, test it, and if everything was okay to exclude the app. The problem is that the app accesses private company data. So, in this case, no luck.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, I was using Kaspersky with no central management option. The main reasons we switched were:

  1. Centralized Management
  2. No client interaction
  3. More points in detection of the current threats on various independent tests.
  4. The suspicions about Kaspersky working with Russia FSB.
  5. Bitdefender is a Romanian company, as is my company.

How was the initial setup?

Very straightforward and easy, in the way of “Next, Next, Finished”. The only problem that I have encountered was with removing some of the other security software installed, where the Bitdefender installer did not always succeed in removing it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In my opinion and based on interactions with other vendors, Bitdefender is the cheapest solution out there. The licensing is yearly-based.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes. Norton AntiVirus, ESET Antivirus, and AVG.

What other advice do I have?

Looking from an IT perspective, it is the best in industry endpoint protection software, if we are talking about Windows/Linux/mobile (Android).

A solution with endpoint protection and a scalable and easy setup
Pros and Cons
  • "It was easy to set up."
  • "The product can be improved by identifying errors."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use this solution for endpoint protection.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it works great with machines.

What needs improvement?

The product can be improved by identifying errors. Sometimes, the product has issues but does not show error messages, and we have to check the console to find the issues. Therefore, it is difficult to identify problems and how they can be solved.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

I can't comment on my experience with customer service and support because we have our own local support.

How was the initial setup?

It was easy to set up and deployment took about 20 minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing cost is four euros per month.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution an eight out of ten. It is a usable program that works.

Facilitates per-project policies and restrictions, making it a flexible tool

What is most valuable?

  • Device Control - You can choose what devices will be allowed or blocked, for example, internal storage, external Storage, CD-ROM, Bluetooth, etc.
  • Application blacklisting - You can define the specific path of the application and then allow or block. When set to block, users can no longer access the application you define.

How has it helped my organization?

This product has improved our organization because you can define specific policies per project. For example, when you have different projects in your company or organization and you want different restrictions for each of them, you can assign a policy depending on the project requirement.

What needs improvement?

I think the Application Control (different from application blacklisting) has room for improvement. When you define an application to block, for example applications with .exe file extension, and apply it to production, other .exe applications are also blocked automatically.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've handled this product for nine months and it is easy to learn.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We did not encounter any stability issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We did not encounter any scalability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

I would rate the level of technical support at nine out of 10. Their support was very responsive to our inquiries and concerns.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We had a different solution, but still a Bitdefender product, their old version of security for business.

How was the initial setup?

Initial setup was straightforward, we just needed the hardware and physical components in order to accomplish the setup.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is great and user friendly, you get value for money.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I do not know whether there were other antivirus product options from other vendors under consideration, since Bitdefender GravityZone was already established when I started with the company. We just migrated from an older product to a newer version of the product and reinstalled.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this product 9 out of 10 because it is very user friendly. I haven't used any other antivirus software management so I cannot compare it to other products.

I highly recommend this product to other consumers, it has great monitoring and scheduled emails for generated reports. There is also monitoring of the viruses on the admin's Web Console.

Easy to install, technical support that is responsive and helpful, and offers solid security more protection.
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to scale and it is suitable for organizations from small businesses to enterprise."
  • "I would like to see the capability for remote installation added, in particular for servers."

What is our primary use case?

We are a distributor for Bitdefender in our country and GravityZone is one of the security products that we have experience with.

How has it helped my organization?

Bitdefender have improve our Cloud technology knowledge , as for the last 5 years we didn't see any progress in that field from any other vendor here in Egypt.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the security( Hyper detect, Sandbox and EDR ). because I think protection is our main target .

What needs improvement?

I would like to see the capability for remote installation of third party applications added( Like installing WinRar MS Office etc..) , and Firewall for servers.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been working with Bitdefender for about five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

GravityZone is a stable product and we haven't experienced any problems with it over the past five years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is easy to scale and it is suitable for organizations from small businesses to enterprise. It can cover a wide range of environments.

We have implemented GravityZone in environments with more than 2,000 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

We have been in touch with technical support from time to time, although they have been minor issues related to the customer's environment. The support is good and they respond quickly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We worked with Kaspersky for about 10 years.

I think that in Egypt, the cloud version of Bitdefender is more mature than Kaspersky and the other vendors. It also has more features. However, Kaspersky has remote installation capability for third party applications, which is something that is missing from Bitdefender.

For EDR The on-premises solutions by other vendors have larger hardware requirements than Bitdefender. also Cloud EDR from Bitdefender is 10 min. installation solution with no Hardware requirements.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and easy to do, especially if you are using the cloud version. The deployment will take less than 20 minutes for cloud-based installation, and less than one hour for the on-premises appliance.

What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team handles the deployment and maintenance for our customers. One person is suitable for either installation or maintenance in an enterprise-level organization.

We have uploaded videos to our YouTube channel that include helpful details such as the installation steps and our recommended configuration.

What was our ROI?

As a distributor for Bitdefender , and as feedback from our clients , I think Bitdefender have and a balanced price package which cover their needs without exceeding the budget .

We cannot in precise Calculate the ROI here in Egypt .

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are different packages available that vary in terms of licensing fees. The entry license is called Business Security, which has basic endpoint features like anti-malware, firewall, and device control.

The next level is called Advanced Security, which protects email and virtualized environments. The third level is called Elite, which has more advanced security features. It is a unique engine to deal with attacks on files or memory. It also has a sandbox, which allows you to collect feedback about any application you are running.

The fourth level is called Ultra, which is an EDR solution.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Kaspersky, Sophos , Microsoft and Eset.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody who is considering or implementing this product is to visit our YouTube channel to look for helpful videos on it to see how to preform and easy and fast POC.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

I like how short the implementation time is
Pros and Cons
  • "I like GravityZone's short implementation time. It takes only a day, at most."
  • "Other solutions are cheaper than GravityZone."

What is our primary use case?

We use GravityZone Ultra for end-user protection.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been working with GravityZone for about two and a half, maybe three years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

GravityZone's scalability is good enough for us. In total, we have thousands of end-users.

How are customer service and support?

My experience with Bitdefender support has been good so far.

How was the initial setup?

I like GravityZone's short implementation time. It takes only a day, at most.

What about the implementation team?

We deploy in-house using our own team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay an annual license. GravityZone is about average in terms of affordability. Other solutions are cheaper than GravityZone. However, I think it's a good value for the price.

What other advice do I have?

I rate GravityZone nine out of 10.

Easy to set up, stable, and reasonably priced
Pros and Cons
  • "The advanced direct control on offer is excellent."
  • "The only problem we have, and I don't know if maybe it's the package we bought, is that it lacks the parts of data protection and application blacklisting."

What is our primary use case?

We're primarily using the solution for endpoint protection. We use it for security.

What is most valuable?

There's really not any issue with it, so far.

I like the firewall part of it.

The advanced direct control on offer is excellent.

The initial setup is very easy.

The solution is stable.

The product is pretty scalable.

I've found the pricing of the product to be reasonable.

What needs improvement?

The only problem we have, and I don't know if maybe it's the package we bought, is that it lacks the parts of data protection and application blacklisting. I don't think we have that option on this package. Apart from that, we've been using it and we've been seeing the reports. We've had no issues so far. We're just missing the blacklisting and data protection features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about two years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable and the performance is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have 35 people in our company that are using the solution currently.

The solution can scale. It scales easily. Initially, we started with 30 users and then when we had new other staff that joined. Easy to scale and add others.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've not really had any issues, and therefore I've not really spoken with any support in regards to our system.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've worked with Sophos previously.

We also previously used Symantec, which is the product we had before Bitdefender.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is not complex. It was simple. We didn't have an issue. It was easily deployed.

That said, I cannot recall exactly how long the deployment took.

The solution doesn't require any real maintenance. Usually, whenever there are any changes or outages you get notifications for them. I also receive a notification whenever there's maybe a system that's trying to make an attempt to do something different on our network so we can activate the device and protect ourselves.

We have two administrators that can handle any tasks related to the product.

What about the implementation team?

We installed it ourselves. We just bought the license. We did not need a third-party integrator or consultant to assist us.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Compared to Symantec, which we were using before we switched to Bitdefender, Bitdefender was cheaper. The pricing is reasonable. Everything is included in the price and we do not have any additional costs.

What other advice do I have?

We're just a customer and an end-user.

I would recommend the product as it's easy to deploy and it's not as heavy as Symantec. We found that the product was consuming so many processes in our system. This is light, so it's easy to configure. It's easier to deal with and I'd recommend it based on that.

I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten.
