Easy to use, immutable, and provides good deduplication features
When we wanted to back up our Microsoft environment, we looked for a cloud backup. Barracuda provided a cloud backup. There were no other products that offered similar features at that time. I will recommend the product to others. It is easy to use. It is a complete package. It is easy to integrate the product with Microsoft. We have a complete package that includes antispam and email gateway solutions. We can choose any package we want. We use Barracuda Essentials. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Backup management excels with user-friendly interface and effective deduplication, offering robust data protection
Leveraging AI in Veritas NetBackup Appliance is one of the road maps now that they have done a collaboration with Cohesity, which is a feature I'm looking forward to. Using AI is one improvement I recommend for the Veritas NetBackup Appliance. They have implemented some aspects of AI for features such as malware detection and anomaly detection. I believe they can do more to give customers more insight into their data, allowing them to see it and understand what they can do, such as archiving old data. They can do more by utilizing the data effectively to provide insights to customers about their space usage, future projections, and options for managing old data.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They are the best support that we have had so far. When you contact or email them, they are very quick to respond. They always have someone available for us. That's what we want as a customer, we want someone to listen to us."
"The scalability of the product is fine."
"The most valuable feature is unlimited data storage on the cloud. Even if the employee has left the company for a few years, the backup will still be maintained."
"The main feature we like about Barracuda is that we can map devices directly to the cloud. It operates as a security device to run a backup of the cloud in case one of our physical machines goes down."
"The configuration and the onboarding process are pretty good."
"The most valuable feature is the speed of backup, which is very good compared to other solutions."
"Whenever you have a crash or your service is not working, you can just live-boot the machine and have your service up and running."
"It is very reliable, so we don't have any issues with it. Our customers have never raised any issue with it. Basically, once you set it up and it is running, it is trouble-free. Our customers are happy. They just got a renewal for the subscription for the service."
"Technical support has been great."
"The most valuable features of Veritas NetBackup Appliance include extension syncing, making copies of the data, expiring images, replication, and speed."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance fairly covers our enterprise requirements and supports all our databases and operating systems."
"The NetBackup appliance features customized software that is designed for storage."
"We find the pricing is reasonable."
"The policy-based backup feature is very helpful."
"The standout feature is its connectivity and robust support. They are easily easy to get hold of, making it convenient for us."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that it can be used in many different kinds of systems."

Cons

"I would like to see a way to increase space."
"Barracuda Backup could use some more integration."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see cloud support and deduplication functionality."
"We're working with them on our file share backups. Our solution needs a little bit more fine-tuning. We're not sure if the issue is at our end or at Barracuda's end."
"We cannot backup Sun Micro systems. They are not currently supported."
"The backup feature could be a bit simpler to utilize. They should make the process of backing up individual files simpler."
"The solution needs fine-grained backup capabilities to service individual users. But this is a minor issue considering all that the product does."
"I would like to see the Live Boot feature extended to Hyper-V machines, in addition to VMware machines."
"The monitoring could be a bit better."
"Figuring out pricing from the site is challenging because the initial pricing mentioned on the site is too high."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance can improve by having a more direct connection to the cloud. It should have the technology to be able to directly communicate with the cloud."
"The challenge arose due to a space issue. The issue was related to disk breaks, especially when power cuts occurred. One of the disks would break, leading to a loss of functionality."
"I would like to see support for databases such as MySQL and MongoDB."
"The upgrade process of the solution needs to be improved since it is extremely complicated, especially without the benefit of a support person who can guide one through it."
"The graphic interface is complex, especially on the management and administrative side, requiring multiple steps for configuration instead of simple clicks in the console."
"Depending on the setup structure, it can be complex to implement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the five-year contract was approximately three million Rupees ($42,000 USD)."
"Its pricing is very reasonable, but it can be reduced."
"Because it is a single package that includes everything, they are worth the money that you need to pay for it. You are paying for the hardware, licensing, the software that runs on it, regular updates, the cloud features included with it along with the replication, and your space allocated in the cloud for replication. It is fairly priced for what you get."
"It allows us a low cost backup solution for hardware-based, VMware, and Hyper-V systems all from a single platform."
"They're on par with their competitors."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"The licensing is charged yearly. It's my understanding that the cost of the solution is somewhere around $7,000 every two years."
"Normally, there is the hardware on the site. So, essentially, there is a server and storage. They can price it a little lower because the customers are making a little investment upfront. Even though it is trouble-free for the end-users, and once it is set up and running, they don't have to really think about it, there is essentially an initial investment. It is not really pricey. We're actually competitive, but we are in a different market. In Asia, customers are a little more price-sensitive than in the west. It is not really a real issue."
"Appliances do not come cheaply."
"Renewing subscriptions for appliance support is costly."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price, and ten is a low price, I rate the solution's pricing an eight."
"The price of Veritas NetBackup Appliance is competitive. There are different models of Veritas NetBackup Appliance, such as perpetual licenses and subscriptions. Having the choice is good."
"Overall, Veritas is a good solution; the problem is the cost."
"I cannot say whether our licensing costs are on a monthly or annual basis, as we have a global contract."
"I rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten."
