Easy to use, immutable, and provides good deduplication features
When we wanted to back up our Microsoft environment, we looked for a cloud backup. Barracuda provided a cloud backup. There were no other products that offered similar features at that time. I will recommend the product to others. It is easy to use. It is a complete package. It is easy to integrate the product with Microsoft. We have a complete package that includes antispam and email gateway solutions. We can choose any package we want. We use Barracuda Essentials. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Backup management excels with user-friendly interface and effective deduplication, offering robust data protection
Leveraging AI in Veritas NetBackup Appliance is one of the road maps now that they have done a collaboration with Cohesity, which is a feature I'm looking forward to. Using AI is one improvement I recommend for the Veritas NetBackup Appliance. They have implemented some aspects of AI for features such as malware detection and anomaly detection. I believe they can do more to give customers more insight into their data, allowing them to see it and understand what they can do, such as archiving old data. They can do more by utilizing the data effectively to provide insights to customers about their space usage, future projections, and options for managing old data.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The backup feature is most valuable. That's why we took it."
"We perform backup drills to test the functionality, and we don't have any problems."
"Customers get a return on their investment from day one."
"Of all the backup products we have used, this by far is the simplest to install and use."
"Trust Barracuda, at least give them a try, because unfortunately, they're not very known."
"Of all the backup products we have used, this by far is the simplest to install and use."
"It is very stable, and I'm very happy with this solution."
"Setting up Barracuda Backup is straightforward."
"The solution uses minimal resources."
"NetBackup Appliance's most valuable feature is the duplication encryption standard feature."
"It has been our go-to product for backup."
"The solution is very scalable."
"The intelligent policies feature is used in order to protect the VMware infrastructure. One of the things that makes a big difference for our company is the usage of these intelligence policies. The system automatically provides extra protection for any VMware server application or service. From a backup administrator's point of view, this is what we call peace of mind. It reduces the workload and therefore reduces resources needed from the company."
"Compared to a homemade installation, this appliance is very stable."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the backup speed."
"It has a lot of very good features. The virtual tape library (VTL) feature is most valuable. Overall, it is easy to use."

Cons

"They keep you waiting and then they don't come up with a real solution."
"The backup feature could be a bit simpler to utilize. They should make the process of backing up individual files simpler."
"The restore time can be improved. The restore time for large quantities of folders is slow."
"We cannot backup Sun Micro systems. They are not currently supported."
"I think scalability is the big gap."
"Scalability-wise, there is room for improvement."
"The cloud backup is brilliant, but there should be an option to take that cloud backup and save it locally as well."
"The backup feature could be a bit simpler to utilize."
"It's an expensive solution."
"The only drawback for NetBackup, and of course for Veritas, is that they have stuck to the same environment and to the same UI - User Interface. This needs to be improved in future releases. It needs to be more dynamic."
"They could simplify the process of installing, and provide more space for data during the process."
"It could be better integrated with other platforms."
"The only room for improvement is that the cost per terabyte is extremely high."
"The hybrid model is not that efficient if we want to off-site data; it takes a lot of time to upload the data on a regular basis."
"Figuring out pricing from the site is challenging because the initial pricing mentioned on the site is too high."
"The NetBackup software is based on Red Hat Linux, but we should have multiple software options for that. We should have more OS options."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is about 6,900 or 7,000 a year. It goes up a little every year. Its price includes live updates, support, antivirus, and cloud storage. If I increase the cloud space, then the price would increase. It has been consistent for us."
"The price of the five-year contract was approximately three million Rupees ($42,000 USD)."
"It allows us a low cost backup solution for hardware-based, VMware, and Hyper-V systems all from a single platform."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"Its pricing is very reasonable, but it can be reduced."
"You don't need to buy an extra license or agent. With one box, you have licenses for any amount of devices that you want to backed up for whatever is backed up."
"Low, fixed cost with great savings."
"The licensing is charged yearly. It's my understanding that the cost of the solution is somewhere around $7,000 every two years."
"I cannot say whether our licensing costs are on a monthly or annual basis, as we have a global contract."
"The price of this solution is very high compared to other solutions."
"The product's price is high."
"The solution is not cheap"
"The licensing costs for this solution are very high."
"This solution is expensive."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a high price and ten is a low price, I rate the pricing a nine."
"Appliances do not come cheaply."
