Easy to use, immutable, and provides good deduplication features
When we wanted to back up our Microsoft environment, we looked for a cloud backup. Barracuda provided a cloud backup. There were no other products that offered similar features at that time. I will recommend the product to others. It is easy to use. It is a complete package. It is easy to integrate the product with Microsoft. We have a complete package that includes antispam and email gateway solutions. We can choose any package we want. We use Barracuda Essentials. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Backup management excels with user-friendly interface and effective deduplication, offering robust data protection
Leveraging AI in Veritas NetBackup Appliance is one of the road maps now that they have done a collaboration with Cohesity, which is a feature I'm looking forward to. Using AI is one improvement I recommend for the Veritas NetBackup Appliance. They have implemented some aspects of AI for features such as malware detection and anomaly detection. I believe they can do more to give customers more insight into their data, allowing them to see it and understand what they can do, such as archiving old data. They can do more by utilizing the data effectively to provide insights to customers about their space usage, future projections, and options for managing old data.

"Barracuda's support is probably one of the best things about them, even with all their solutions. With any problem that we have, or even questions, we get the assistance that we need. The turnaround is pretty quick."
"We have been able to migrate from tapes to Barracuda Backup, and that has helped us tremendously."
"They are a large company with good best practices, and they give good support."
"This is a good backup interconversion solution because all the masters and the targets backups are on the same system, and it is easy to administrate for a single point of access for clients."
"The product is quite stable and reliable; there are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze, and its performance is good."
"When we moved to NetBackup we discovered a whole new world of possibilities and capabilities."
"The most valuable feature is that the backup and restoring process is very fast."

"It is very capable of scaling and very good for heterogeneous environments."

Cons

"The solution depends on your connectivity, so it is essential to have a proper connection to the cloud."
"It would be nice to have some reports generated on the usage, but it is not essential."
"Our second issue was backing up Solaris / Sun systems."
"I would like to see the automatic backup of critical applications to the cloud."
"It would be nice to have some reports generated on the usage of the system such as detailed backup statistics, but it is not essential."
"I would like to see the Live Boot feature extended to Hyper-V machines, in addition to VMware machines."
"Scalability-wise, there is room for improvement."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see cloud support and deduplication functionality."
"Figuring out pricing from the site is challenging because the initial pricing mentioned on the site is too high."
"More licensing options could be introduced to the software. It is currently based on capacity only. Compared to competitors, it is difficult to position it economically everywhere. From the usability point of view, they are making many improvements on new interfaces, the SaaS offering, etc."
"It is not easy because I have worked a lot on the tool, and in case it gets corrupted at any point, it is not easy to restore the data without losing information is not easy."
"In terms of implementing the solution, it's quite technical. You need to be knowledgable in order to pull off a successful deployment."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance could improve by having a site recovery feature."
"The hybrid model is not that efficient if we want to off-site data; it takes a lot of time to upload the data on a regular basis."
"The recovery backup has been problematic."
"It's difficult to make a switch with the tool because the actual physical storage doesn't work with anything else."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is about 6,900 or 7,000 a year. It goes up a little every year. Its price includes live updates, support, antivirus, and cloud storage. If I increase the cloud space, then the price would increase. It has been consistent for us."
"They're on par with their competitors."
"The licensing is charged yearly. It's my understanding that the cost of the solution is somewhere around $7,000 every two years."
"The price of the five-year contract was approximately three million Rupees ($42,000 USD)."
"It allows us a low cost backup solution for hardware-based, VMware, and Hyper-V systems all from a single platform."
"Normally, there is the hardware on the site. So, essentially, there is a server and storage. They can price it a little lower because the customers are making a little investment upfront. Even though it is trouble-free for the end-users, and once it is set up and running, they don't have to really think about it, there is essentially an initial investment. It is not really pricey. We're actually competitive, but we are in a different market. In Asia, customers are a little more price-sensitive than in the west. It is not really a real issue."
"Because it is a single package that includes everything, they are worth the money that you need to pay for it. You are paying for the hardware, licensing, the software that runs on it, regular updates, the cloud features included with it along with the replication, and your space allocated in the cloud for replication. It is fairly priced for what you get."
"Low, fixed cost with great savings."
"I cannot say whether our licensing costs are on a monthly or annual basis, as we have a global contract."
"This solution is expensive."
"The product is expensive and comes with a yearly license."
"The solution is not cheap"
"Renewing subscriptions for appliance support is costly."
"The licenses are purchased on appliances with the capacity they require."
"The pricing for the solution's software maintenance and licensing is high."
"Veritas NetBackup Appliance is priced well compared to other solutions."
