Offers automation, orchestration, service level management but lacks AI-based rules
BMC Helix is the upgraded version and incorporates many new ways of working for service operations. It's a significant improvement. Helix offers analytics, AI-based rules, a smart digital console, and workflow management. Remedy doesn't have these features. That's a significant difference. BMC Helix seems to be a strong competitor to ServiceNow, while Remedy wasn't at the same level.

Helps with guarantee and warranty period management, license expiration tracking, device patches, and integration with our finance system for depreciation and invoicing
We are the users of the tool, and we are using it for our customers as well. We have multitenant operations, and we're using it for our customer. Our primary use cases are warranty period management, license expiration tracking, enterprise OS patches for devices like firewalls and switches, and…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution helps us manage, escalate, and solve incidents."
"The product has excellent support for remote and hybrid environments."
"It's a scalable product."
"The service management features are beneficial – very good."
"The solution's technical support is good."
"The asset discovery feature in BMC is notably better compared to ServiceNow."
"The incident management console is available out of the box."
"The discovery feature of BMC Remedy has been very valuable."
"The technical support is great."
"ManageEngine IT Asset Management helps with guarantee and warranty period management, license expiration tracking, device patches, and integration with our finance system for depreciation and invoicing."
"In my opinion, it is the MDM; patch management and deployment are the valuable features."
"The ability to define custom templates for asset management helps track assets, budgets, warranties, and expiries effectively."
"The auto-discovery feature has helped us a lot."

Cons

"In BMC Remedy, integration is a problem and even APIs are not available."
"However, from a stability perspective, we sometimes had issues, like running out of resources, maxing out, database issues, and the server freezing out and functioning at fifty percent."
"There is room for improvement in integration with various platforms. The support services should be improved. The response time from the support team should be faster."
"The upgrade process could be better. It would be a good improvement."
"Areas for improvement include lack of vision, lack of industry-specific solutions, limited workflows compared to ServiceNow, and being restricted to a purely IT perspective, which limits their addressable market."
"Maybe the network automation aspects need improvement."
"Integration and deployment could be better. It could be easier and faster to integrate and deploy. It would also help if we could have a 360-degree view. It would be better if they changed it to a SaaS type of offering, which is becoming the standard."
"Could be more user friendly for admins to manage."
"The engineering area needs improvement."
"The assets that can be discovered are pretty easy to manage, but there should be a better way to manage non-discoverable assets. Our development team works on bots and tests particular hardware. They have got different varieties of hardware. They want a feature for managing these assets within a warehouse kind of environment. For example, our IT has received 100 items, and they have assigned these items as a bulk unit to a project manager. The project manager further wants to distribute these items within his or her team. Instead of maintaining a separate Excel sheet, the project manager should be able to reallocate these items from within the tool so that we have hierarchical entities for the same unit."
"It would be helpful if there were a premium technician license that includes all the suites, eliminating the need to buy separate licenses for each feature."
"The asset management tool is costly."
"Responses from ManageEngine should be faster."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is on the expensive side."
"The tool is expensive."
"The pricing is in-between. It's not too cheap, and it's not too expensive. For a large organization, it's worth it. But for a smaller one, it might be a bit costly."
"Pricing is expensive compared to lower-end solutions, but it's on par with ServiceNow."
"It is an expensive tool."
"I find the pricing to be reasonable."
"The product is costly. On one to ten points, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the product's price as nine."
"BMC should decrease the pricing further."
"Its price is reasonable, but I wish it was lower."
