Offers a wide range of functionalities for large enterprises but system requires expertise to implement and configure
In the past few years, the main challenge has been the annual maintenance cost. We've often replaced Oracle with Dynamics, which is cheaper than Oracle but still expensive for governments in Africa with limited budgets to sustain it. So, the main challenge is the cost versus the value. We don't get lower value with Dynamics 365, and I've seen governments implement other alternatives like Odoo, too. They don't see the value in paying millions of dollars in maintenance fees. Oracle needs to understand the reality of the situation. In the African market, Oracle is the least of the considerations. People don't even want to consider Oracle. They need to come up with something more cost-effective because people do not see the value in paying those maintenance fees. As a system integrator, I don't gain anything because most of the money gets transferred to Oracle. They need to relook at their licensing models. NetSuite is pretty rigid for a cloud-based suite. There are varying requirements to make changes to the configuration, which becomes a hassle compared to even Dynamics. They need to relax how they handle this. The licensing is also very complicated, with so many parameters that it's confusing, and sizing becomes confusing. Streamlining the licensing would be helpful so that it becomes transparent for the customer.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Material planning and predictive planning are both essential aspects."
"LN is definitely a stable product. It's number one on Gartner's four quadrants."
"I like the tool’s multisite functionality."
"Infor LN has basically the same structure as CloudSuite Industrial, but LN has more advanced planning tools for manufacturing."
"The most valuable features are manufacturing, and manufacturing costing modules. These are all powerful features of Infor LN."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to handle products with up to 2,500 components, making it valuable for streamlining complex business operations."
"The solution covers all modules, similar to Oracle and SAP."
"The most valuable features of Infor LN include its production planning capabilities, its efficiency in running in the cloud, and its ability to handle multi-site, multi-logistic, and multi-finance operations."
"Valuable features include expense management and the accounting suite of products."
"The most valuable features of Oracle EBS are its ease of use, integration capabilities, and the General Ledger reporting, including the FSG reporting."
"EBS has lots of application families and lots of features. It is modular in deployment and flexible enough to let the customer increase the built-in capabilities and enable new applications when needed. These are very important things at hand in case there will be a need to expand the product capabilities and/or implement new projects."
"Before, we used a lot of manpower in our operations, in the backend, but this is a service. We have eliminated some unnecessary processes."
"This software scales very well across various implementations."
"The financial module has excellent features that many find valuable, while the HCM module is also highly regarded."
"The on-premise is very similar to the cloud version."
"E-Business Suite's best features are the standard process, the table dictionary, and the ability to work with the SQL language to correlate data."

Cons

"From a technical perspective, LN needs to work on customization and integration. It's fairly expensive for many clients to migrate from a customized private solution to the cloud. Infor needs to improve the cloud solution to make the migration from the on-prem customized solution faster and smoother. Otherwise, many clients will find it difficult or expensive to do."
"The user interface of Infor LN is not very user-friendly."
"While Infor LN incorporates the latest business processes and functions, there is always room for improvement as the business grows. In the new normal, it could stand to incorporate quite a few automation processes like the RPA and utilize machine learning in the Internet of Things."
"Regarding areas for improvement within the solution, I would say that the solution's asset management and quality management need attention."
"When it comes to planning, it's more challenging to consider the entire structure, such as having a specific SKU and wanting to look at the planning for the whole structure. You must delve into individual item details to plan for it with order planning. Therefore, improvements will allow more comprehensive planning for each SKU."
"The price is challenging in the market."
"The user interface needs to be improved."
"The user interface is not very intuitive for newer users."
"A lot more automation can be brought into E-Business Suite."
"The EBS Design to some extent is still monolithic."
"The reporting needs to be improved."
"Improving the reporting and user interface of Oracle ERP would be beneficial and is something that can be considered for future updates."
"User interface is outdated and not user friendly."
"They don't have built-in bank integrations, which would be very helpful."
"I would like to see more automation."
"The operations could be better, specifically for manufacturing processes."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool’s AMC and support are given on a yearly basis. You need to make monthly payments for support."
"The standard pricing is two thousand per year per user. There are no additional costs."
"If you use Infor LN in Infor CloudSuite, there is a need to make an early payment for a license, which is approximately 2,500 EUR."
