A good legacy solution that is reliable and has good support
We haven't done any implementation in the last ten years. That said, we did upgrade it in 2017-16 to the latest version and it was quite okay. It was complex yet not too much. I'd rate it three and a half out of five in terms of ease of setup.

Implementation simplifies ERP management with comprehensive data integration and visibility
A lot of people would say the pricing. SAP is seen as quite expensive even now. It doesn't work for smaller or medium optimizations. The licensing and pricing could be looked at. In Brownfield migration, the trade-off between greenfield and brownfield means you either keep it clean or match the business requirements. Sometimes, it's not possible to do both. While ValixAPI provides significant support in making those decisions and the SAP consultant is very useful, we are still dependent on past history and how it was originally set up. I wouldn't call that a real disadvantage, yet more accessible consulting would be beneficial. Incorporating all other cloud products, like APO or IPP, into the S/4 house might also help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We've found the initial setup to be easy."
"I think JDE ERP is very flexible and very convenient for the users. I think EnterpriseOne is more convenient for users to do the inquiry and do the data entry. The UI is better than JDE World. For JDE products, including the World version, is very flexible. It's a good product for clients."
"The most valuable feature of JD Edwards World is its ease of use and unique functions."
"Menu creation is easier now."
"The most valuable feature for me is the traceability customization, which allows me to track the movement and history of artifacts in our ecosystem."
"Collecting data in standard formats for processing in a data warehouse."
"The pricing is okay. It's not overly expensive."
"The solution's UI is user friendly and has good performance and good search facility."
"In terms of its most valuable feature, I would say the finance module."
"The solution's most valuable feature is integration."
"I have found SAP S4HANA to be scalable."
"The solution's new UI called Fiori is user friendly."
"This tool helps us to manage business in a faster and smarter way."
"We have access to all types of reports in a single solution."
"Many prebuilt scenarios are included."
"It is scalable enough. We have over a hundred end users using it."

Cons

"There is no support from Oracle here. We only have third-party support."
"I have more than 18 years of JDE experience in JDE EnterpriseOne and World versions. I think JDE is good but compared to SAP and Oracle EPS, we can see which area needs to have some improvement for JDE."
"Update interface capabilities and data maintenance tools to modern standards."
"I would like report creation to be easier."
"Its end of life is already announced, so I don't expect lots of improvement coming from the product anywhere anymore."
"The integration technology could be stronger at this point."
"Improvements are needed in transitioning JD Edwards World to a more stable and reliable cloud product, particularly in terms of GDPR and data privacy compliance."
"The pricing for JD Edwards World could be more affordable so that it could be available to a broader audience. My clients want more analytics or data analysis features from JD Edwards World."
"Support is a challenge. The effectiveness of the SAP support paradigm depends on particular skills."
"During my time with Angleton, we relied on a private cloud, and accessibility became literally impossible whenever the cloud service provider experienced downtime."
"There are some problems with the support provided for the solution, so it is not quite easy. It takes some time for them to offer us support."
"There is room for improvement in areas such as security features within SAP S/4HANA, which could further enhance the overall usability and effectiveness of the platform. To make SAP S/4HANA better, there's a focus on enhancing responsiveness and reducing operational costs. This includes improving automation within the system to address strategic needs and accommodate users who primarily speak English, which is an ongoing effort."
"MRP repost area should be improved. The production information report also needs to be improved."
"The cost of their support services could be more affordable."
"There could be a bit more competitiveness in their licensing and pricing."
"Thi solution can improve the Bill of Materials (BOM) and production planning."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We pay for an annual license."
"The product is expensive."
"I rate the pricing a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is too expensive. It is an expensive tool."
"The solution is expensive."
"I have found the price of the solution is on the medium to the expensive side of the scale. There is a license for this solution and there are additional maintenance fees."
"It is an expensive solution."
"The problem with SAP is that it offers two licenses, namely runtime license and enterprise license. If you have a runtime license, then you are doomed since you can't take any data out from the tool."
