Encrypts the hard drive, offers data protection policies and effective part of DLP strategy
The only thing that I think could be improved is the data classifier. It's not a very robust classifier, which is where its limitation lies. For example, you see a lot of higher-end solutions where people can classify data more effectively, adding labels like transcription labels and such. McAfee’s classifier doesn't handle all those tasks. It doesn’t offer the same level of functionality as other data classification tools. You can't do things like fingerprinting and other advanced classification methods. However, if you were to make it more robust, the product could become too heavy to run effectively on endpoints and servers. So, to be honest, I can't think of anything else off the top of my head that could be added. I think it's a great solution as it stands. If anyone wants extended data classification, they can leverage other tools like Titus, Fortra's Classifier Suite (previously known as Boldon James Classifier), or even Microsoft AIP if they have the budget. You can also leverage Trellix to enhance your data protection. From my point of view, McAfee Complete Data Protection is one of the best solutions out there, if not the best, to be honest.

Protects user data and offers data control and has an easy deployment
The most valuable feature is encryption control. If you have a laptop, it guarantees that the data is not missing or lost. It’s easy to deploy and has a central console where you can see whether the laptops are encrypted, updated, and protected. It protects devices, including USB and other external devices, and guarantees data loss protection. Additionally, with device control, you can ensure that no ransomware is introduced into the network. For me, this is of very high value.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"McAfee Complete Data Protection provides stability and is a good product."
"The console allows us to manage not only endpoint protection, but DLP, and also integration with MVISION Cloud."
"The interface is user-friendly and it provides a large number of options."
"I am satisfied with the customer service/technical support."
"With respect to data loss prevention, I think it is helpful to the customer."
"The solution has a good interface."
"In addition, it is easy to use, and you can define rules that protect the database beyond the built-in rules of the product. I found another purpose for the product besides the basic things that it does, protecting the database: privileged use, weak authentication, SQL injection and and database platform vulnerability."
"Complete Data Protection lets us define roles in our data products. It helps us identify something suspicious on the client's device."
"I like its ease of use the most. The management console is really nice. I like having one pane of glass that does everything. It does the Sophos anti-virus and encryption. Everything that you need is in one place. It is easy to use, and it is also pretty fast. It provides some pretty good details, and it lets you know who has access to a file. You can also add additional people to the encrypted documents, which is pretty good. Its stability and performance are also very good."
"Sophos SafeGuard is very easy to implement, and the connection for remote users is beneficial."
"The intrusion detection system."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the GUI is easy to use."
"Policy deployment is easy and quick to do."
"The solution can be easily connected and it is very secure."
"The user experience and the quality of the features are good."
"The tool is very safe, reliable, and fast."

Cons

"We are looking for more granular control over the policies."
"The UI could be improved a bit."
"The solution needs to reduce the number of false positives. There are too many of them."
"A better GUI platform would make it easier to present information to management; I would not need to fix the data before I present it."
"This solution does not do as well at protecting the end-user against unknown viruses."
"It is difficult to manage."
"There was an option for SQL setup in the older versions of this product and it has been removed, but we would like to see it made available as an add-on."
"The refresh feature needs improvement. You need to refresh it manually yt going to the address bar, clicking on it and pressing enter, or pressing F5. There should be a button you can click on to refresh or have it so every five seconds it's refreshing."
"The lack of need for the patch for an extra password is a shortcoming. It will be a great improvement if the patch requires an extra password so that they can find out how to synchronize your Windows password with the same password for Sophos SafeGuard."
"If it's possible, they should make all the features available because it's got a lot of features on offer, but you have to buy the license in order to add those features to the normal Endpoint. If they could make all those features available and/or offer a bundling option it would be better."
"An area for improvement in Sophos SafeGuard is the pricing. Pricing should be better when adding a new account or scaling the product."
"What would make Sophos SafeGuard better than competitors is if its management console also includes firewall management. In the future, I want Sophos SafeGuard to be more scalable."
"In the next release, I would like to see more automation with the endpoint logging, but it's a special feature that is quite complicated to explain."
"As a tool, Sophos SafeGuard is not optimized."
"The dashboards lack sufficient information."
"Once you lock a server, you won't be able to install or put something on that particular server, but on the PC or machines, the lockdown feature is not there, and it is a query our company raised when we had to provide details for Sophos' review."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the solution a seven."
"McAfee Complete Data Protection is a little bit expensive."
"The solution is more expensive than one of its competitors."
"This solution is reasonably priced."
"The solution is affordable"
"The pricing is better than that of some competing products."
"I think the price could be a little bit less."
"The pricing is quite reasonable compared to other vendors."
"I rate Sophos SafeGuard's pricing a five out of ten."
"It's a software license with a one-time purchase. There are no issues with purchasing, and the vendor is flexible with licensing."
"The platform is reasonably priced considering its functionality and adaptability. It is subscription-based."
"The pricing is good and now they offer three year and five year plans. After that if one lokes the service they can choose the lifetime service."
"We pay around $10 a year for each endpoint, including support."
"There is a need to make annual payments towards the licensing charges attached to the product."
"Licensing for this solution is on a yearly basis."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis and the pricing could be better."
