Has simplified customer data management and improved file transfer workflows
We are using AWS as well, and the main difference is that Microsoft Azure File Storage is more user-friendly for configuration-related and admin-related activities. We do not have to perform many complex activities, making it simpler compared to AWS. Security-wise, there are some concerns because it is in the cloud. The customers need to double-check, and they are not giving complete approval when it comes to security. I would rate Microsoft Azure File Storage's security compliance features seven or eight out of ten. It is secure, but since it is in the cloud, we have to convince customers when providing solutions. Many questions were raised while providing the architecture and solution for this file transfer management system. We convinced them because we have the feature and showed a demo, but it is still a prototype. We have to get approval before starting the work. The data redundancy options in Microsoft Azure File Storage are good. I am facing some challenges in convincing customers, and additional information would be helpful to address these challenges. Microsoft Azure File Storage saves time compared to AWS. We tried the prototype in AWS as well, but Azure is easier. Regarding cost, it is slightly less compared to AWS. The functionality of Microsoft Azure File Storage does not pose any issues, though basic users find it complex and require training. Regarding stability, I would rate Microsoft Azure File Storage 8.5 to 9. Scalability in Microsoft Azure File Storage is impressive. We recently handled a huge transaction during an iPhone launch without any problems.

Achieve high availability and security with automated tasks over a decade
While there are some disadvantages in this product, from my experience with basic use cases, daily tasks, integration, scheduling, saving, and encryption, I have not encountered significant areas for improvement. However, the addition of a GUI configuration management and administration console for all administrative tasks would be highly beneficial. It would be preferable to have the ability to perform all console, terminal, and command line operations through a GUI interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable aspect of Azure File Storage is that all the features are available in one place."
"The overall solution is great."
"It's not a big challenge; it's a one-step process, where if we run the script, the storage happens automatically to store all the log files and everything."
"I like that we can copy and download data using Azure. It's not just for file storage; we can also use it for large data sets or to host static web applications."
"The product can integrate with all platforms. My team also does data visualization, and Power BI can directly connect with those nodes. We can very conveniently connect with multiple tools for our database. The benefit here is that by utilizing the same storage application, my application is linked with their application through the same server. This setup provides real analytics and data for a holistic purpose, which is advantageous."
"It is a very scalable solution. I rate the solution's scalability a nine out of ten."
"The main benefit of Microsoft Azure File Storage is that we have a lot of solutions from Microsoft, and those can be integrated well within Azure."
"The immutable storage features are valuable."
"Oracle Database Backup Service is an easy-to-use consolidation solution that's dashboard-driven."
"The product works very fast. It automates a lot of operations in the background."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to perform encrypted backups after any learning."
"The backup is reliable and intuitive."
"Oracle Database Backup Service is stable and offers high availability and the commands for restoration and backup processes are not complicated."
"The interface is good."
"I like the stability and the scalability of this product."
"It's a scalable product."

Cons

"The pricing could be better."
"Sometimes, we face latency issues in standard storage, which explains my rating."
"Licensing costs are expensive."
"The product name keeps changing. It can be confusing when product names change frequently, especially with Microsoft. Sometimes, if you refer to a product by a certain name last year, it might have a different name six months later."
"The availability of file storage information requires significant research and learning. The information is not readily available on the internet, so we have to double-check and understand everything."
"One thing that Azure File Storage could help us with is some kind of impact assessment. When we talk to some of our larger customers who have between 500 and 1,000 applications, we normally do an assessment of all these applications and then tell them which ones are ready to be lifted and shifted, and which ones need to re-architected. It would really help if Azure File Storage could come up with a better way to give estimations of the total investment required, including all costs incurred during the migration."
"The product’s pricing could be better."
"The transparency of cost should be improved."
"It's already fast, but still, they could improve the speed."
"We cannot use the product with other brands."
"The installation process is easy for me because I have performed this action hundreds of times. However, it is important to note that beginners and even some senior professionals may encounter significant difficulties during installation."
"We encounter issues while restoring differential and cumulative backups."
"The product can protect from external data penetration, but the in-house IT team can access it."
"Oracle Database Backup Service is not a cheap solution."
"The initial setup is overly complex, unnecessarily so."
"Pricing is an area that needs improvement. If you do a comparison with other products, it's more expensive and it stops a few customers from purchasing Oracle, especially the engineered systems that have the data and more, which are relatively expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For one terabyte of data, we are spending about 150 Euro every month."
"I think the pricing of the product can be reduced."
"The product's pricing need improvement."
"The pricing could be more flexible."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with ten being the most expensive. It's not cheap."
"We pay for both yearly and monthly licenses. The yearly one is cheaper than the monthly one."
"There are fewer hidden costs involved compared to other solutions, and when our customer is already a Microsoft partner, they typically have access to more affordable fees."
"I give the pricing of the solution a seven out of ten."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate Oracle Database Backup Service a seven or eight out of ten."
"The platform is expensive."
"It's an expensive solution and is an area that needs improvement."
"The platform is expensive."
"Price is always an area that could be made better, as it is quite expensive."
"The only problem with Oracle is its pricing."
