Industry-standard stack enables better load handling for large-scale companies
With Taleo, I experience two limitations. First, it only supports soft calls with a daily limit, which is a concern. The other limitation is that it feels outdated, and I cannot compare certain things or implement some automations that require a lot of manual intervention when initiating, generating, and calculating offers.

User-friendly, well-organized, offering a structured step-by-step process for configuration
I would really like to see a more robust timekeeping solution in Workday. Currently, most organizations are using Kronos for timekeeping and Workday for HR data. They then integrate Workday with Dimensions to manage time-related activities and payroll processing. I think if Workday could enhance its timekeeping solution to match the functionality and flexibility of Dimensions, it would be a really good product. Another area for improvement is payroll. Workday payroll is not very extensively used in the North American market, but it is more widely used in Europe. There is a lot of complexity in payroll processing in North America, but I think there is still a lot of room for improvement in Workday. In the next release, I would like to see pre-built or predefined connectors for Dimensions and other applications. Currently, we have to use Boomi or another middleware application to integrate Workday with these systems. I think pre-built connectors would be very helpful, especially for Dimensions, which we do not currently have a connector for.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is stable and reliable."
"Performance and goal management are good to have, based on certain client requirements where the user base isn't too large, but the most workable domain of Taleo is the recruiting module."
"ATS is used to track candidates. We've used it for job requisitions, getting candidates for those requisitions, moving them through different interview stages, and then handling their onboarding process."
"Oracle Taleo's integration capabilities are good."
"The product's stability is good."
"Good integration capabilities and extensibility."
"The advantage I see is the presence of the industrial Taleo stack, which is beneficial for large-scale companies handling a higher load."
"The solution's most valuable features are the OCR, single source of truth, and simplicity of the workflows."
"Workday is a secure product."
"The software is easy to learn and use. When compared to SAP HR and SAP HCM, the tool is easy to access and understand. We have a hierarchy and structural connectivity in Workday. There is a certification for the solution and when we do it, we become the certified partners of the company"
"It's intuitive, a very usable tool and it's easy to find the data you're looking for."
"The most helpful Workday features for our HR processes were in HCM, particularly in areas like talent, compensation, benefits, and learning."
"The platform itself is very robust and I generally like the reporting and analytics capability."
"The solution is easy to use and provides great flexibility and security."
"I'm happy with the features Workday offers. But in particular, Core HCM is the best."
"Workday is easy to use. Timesheet and resource management are also easy."

Cons

"For larger enterprises, Oracle Taleo may not stand out due to other available tools in the market that offer more features and scalability."
"It would be beneficial if Oracle Taleo included AI-based CV screening, rather than just keyword matches."
"Lacks some systems that we need."
"Oracle Taleo felt a bit outdated, and we didn't use it for every step of the candidate process. We mainly used it to track job IDs, create job requisitions, and add candidates when making an offer. It wasn't very user-friendly for moving candidates through different stages of the recruitment lifecycle."
"The bulk recruitment feature does not work well."
"It would be ideal if we could integrate the solution with Olympia. It would be helpful if we could add another support desk for an IT person. It would be great if the product was more interdisciplinary and could include IT."
"I don't see very valuable features in this product because it has an old way of interpreting ATS. It should be more flexible in managing datasets and data searches. The screening data is a long process in Taleo."
"The pricing could be improved."
"Workday has several helpful features. It has categorized payroll processes into sections, such as CTC separation and pay slips. It also provides detailed information on promotions and salary hikes, showing changes from the previous year to the current year. This includes a clear view of the new CTC and the monthly paycheck breakdown."
"We would like to see improvement in the mobile app variant of this solution. The time sheet entry and approval, and the geo-tagging features all need to have their functionality updated, in order to be comparable with other products on the market."
"This solution could be improved by providing user-level access to customization capabilities. Users currently rely on more technical teams to customize reports, for example."
"The solution has some features missing when you put them in the test studio or Confluence Studio. I would like the tool’s coding to be easier to understand and automated. Most of the coding these days is automated. Any query given can pull the answer directly which can make the solution easier to understand."
"They don't offer any backend database access. This is one limitation that I found in this product. Workday hasn't opened up about what kind of database they are into, which can make it easy for the technical team to emulate issues. It would be good if they can offer backend access to the technical team. It would be helpful if they can also provide a Troubleshooting Guide that we can use to troubleshoot issues. When we have an issue, there are very limited resources to refer to."
"The user interface could be modernized somehow."
"Setting up reports can be a bit tricky."
"The price could be lower."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Whether you pay annually or on some other payment schedule depends on the license model you choose. Typically, clients pay a yearly subscription."
"Oracle Taleo is an expensive solution."
"You have the license fee per module, and then you have a kind of annual training fee, which is a kind of add-on. I wouldn't say it is exhaustive; it is minor. Licensing is pretty transparent for most of the part."
"The pricing for this solution is fairly high. It is not affordable for small and mid-sized companies."
"It has an annual subscription rate, but I'm not sure how it will work."
"Workday is moderately priced - I'd rate its pricing three out of five."
"It is on a yearly basis."
"By and large, Workday is expensive. It is based on the headcount. I'd probably rate it a three or four out of five in terms of pricing. It'd be like buying a Mercedes or a high-end car. It's expensive, but there's a specific value that you're getting with additional features and things of that nature. Using that metaphor, Workday probably tends to be more of a luxury. There are others like ADP that can do your payroll, your time off, and other things, but they don't do it as well."
"Its price is pretty high. It is more expensive than what is offered by other competitors in the market."
"It's very, very expensive."
