Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Utilizing key management and seamless single sign-on integration for enhanced user profile management
WSO2 Identity Server's key management feature stands out as a particularly impactful feature for enhancing security. Additionally, from a user perspective, the self-user portal and user profile management capabilities are highly valuable. It allows users to manage their profiles, change passwords, and offers a self-care portal type of functionality. The single sign-on capability integrates seamlessly with various platforms, including Google, Facebook, LDAP, and Active Directory, which supports rapid product launches.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features in Microsoft Intune for me are application deployment, Defender deployment, and asset management."
"Microsoft Intune is a cloud solution and we can manage everything, including Azure AD, Intune, and not only mobile hand devices, such as iOS or Android, but with the main focus on workstations, which is what makes the solution powerful."
"From a solution perspective, I always recommend that you go for it."
"We have not experienced any bugs or glitches with this solution."
"Its price is reasonable. It is a part of our M365 suite."
"On the cloud, you can manage everything; you can push policies, maintain patches, and maintain security because everything interacts on the cloud and a VPN is not required."
"The ability to switch between Affinity and non-Affinity enrollment is great."
"The Autopilot feature is the most valuable because it saves significant time on managing devices. We can ship devices globally, and users can set them up on their own. It's convenient."
"I like the technical support a lot; it's really first hand, high-level support."
"Support is helpful and responsive."
"The Client Control feature in VMware Workspace ONE is most valuable for managing client devices, including mobile devices and laptops. Another impactful feature is the per-service tooling, allowing access to the data centre on a per-application basis. We use the complete VMware stack, integrating Horizon for application delivery and Carbon Black for endpoint protection. We have outsourced our device management, which streamlines our IT tasks as our supplier handles them competitively."
"Valuable features of this solution are the device management and the good integration with third parties."
"It has all of the features that we need to use and that we want to use."
"The solution was easy to deploy."
"The single sign-on feature, which integrates with the Identity Manager is one of the most vital features."
"Once you get to know the solution it's quite simple to use."
"Some of the valuable features of the solution are the easy integration with processes, such as Single Sign-On. Overall WSO2 is straightforward and does not need customization."
"I would rate the solution's stability eight or nine out of ten."
"The keystore feature has been most valuable for us."
"The product provides easy integration between API manager and IT server components."
"The single sign-on procedure itself, as well as the ability to connect to external user sources such as Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP servers, are the solution's most valuable features."
"We are able to use this tool to better secure next generation data centers, which use software defined networks."
"We use the solution for customer identity management, authenticating customers coming in through a web portal."
"The feature that I found most valuable was the ecosystem, which is very comprehensive and allowed me to find the components that I wanted to use, including the identity server and the API."

Cons

"They need to integrate more with security options."
"Some enrollment features could be improved."
"There is room for improvement in Microsoft Intune's understanding and user experience as the interface is easy to navigate for deploying applications and finding user information, but I think there should be a reduction in dependency on on-premises infrastructure and focus on artificial intelligence and automation to improve further."
"If your MDM has to be really specific, perhaps Intune is not the better option."
"I would say the interface and dashboard summarizing the devices' status and compliance could be improved."
"There is room for improvement in server patch management and allowing direct uploads of EXE applications instead of needing to convert them to Intune format, which would save time."
"I heard some pain points. The main thing is the learning curve. It took time to implement. It was not the best product starting out of the gate."
"Setting up Intune Autopilot can be a little complicated."
"The technical support could be improved."
"Setup is not too complex."
"I'd like to see more integration capabilities in future releases."
"The database gets corrupted when used in the cluster. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."
"The Content Locker cannot inherit permissions for the Windows Public Folder."
"Cost of licensing is quite high."
"The SaaS environment is not very responsive at times, so the performance can be improved in that regard."
"There is a need for better user lifecycle management within VMware Identity Manager, along with better user governance...The scalability of the product needs to improve."
"This solution requires extensive knowledge to be used effectively as certain areas of its use are not user friendly."
"First, improvements have to been made in the high availability architecture. This has to do with the master-slave replication, and how the load balancing is handled between the identity servers."
"I found the initial setup to be very complex."
"Sometimes working with the code is difficult because I search for documentation about the code and how to work with the code, which is where I believe they should improve, by providing some documentation on how to work with the code."
"The solution could improve its development from a user perspective."
"The solution could improve its development from a user perspective."
"This solution does not have BPM workflows already integrated, we had to integrate the BPM module externally. They do not provide full-featured auditing and certification modules out of the box."
"The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"My team members bundled it together with their Microsoft solutions, including Microsoft 365 and related products."
"The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
"I rate Intune five out of 10 for pricing. It's expensive."
"Any bundle package, such as Security E3, covers multiple things, such as AAP, BitLocker, etc. If you go for them individually, they would be more expensive. Bundling makes the price more attractive and competitive."
"Cost is not my department, but the product is included in the E5 license that we already pay for every user, so no additional cost is incurred."
"The licensing costs we leave up to the customer and these vary from one to another."
"The price for Intune is fair."
"The solution is about $45 per device for a 12 month subscription. The price is standard across the world."
"If you have a host of custom requirements (including licensing), make sure to set aside enough time for the initial setup because it can take up to a few weeks depending on how complex your environment is."
"For big users, it's around $500."
"Our organization has stopped using the solution because it was expensive."
"Its pricing was okay for our company."
"It is quite expensive, but I think large companies have agreements with these organizations that provide remote monitoring for phones, and they get massive discounts. The public price does not reflect what they pay. You won't get the same pricing if you're buying for 10 employees versus 1,000 employees. On the public price, you get perhaps a 10% discount, but if you're buying 1,000, the discount could be really massive, especially if you signed a contract for a number of years."
"I have no opinion about the pricing of the product."
"Licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis."
"They should bring in some good pricing models to host the marketplace."
"I rate the product price an eight out of ten. There is a need to pay more for the extra features provided by the solution."
"WSO2 Identity Server is not an expensive solution."
"I have found the solutions license is priced competitively compared to others."
"We have to take their support, but that is a minimal charge if I'm comparing it to other identity managers."
"At this time we are working with the open-source version."
