Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Utilizing key management and seamless single sign-on integration for enhanced user profile management
WSO2 Identity Server's key management feature stands out as a particularly impactful feature for enhancing security. Additionally, from a user perspective, the self-user portal and user profile management capabilities are highly valuable. It allows users to manage their profiles, change passwords, and offers a self-care portal type of functionality. The single sign-on capability integrates seamlessly with various platforms, including Google, Facebook, LDAP, and Active Directory, which supports rapid product launches.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I have been using the Enterprise Application Management feature of Microsoft Intune, which enhances abilities when it comes to app discovery, deployment, and automatic updating."
"The reporting and analytics features in Microsoft Intune have been a lifesaver."
"By using Microsoft Intune, I can control my Outlook on my phone, and whenever I try to open any file attachment, it will be more secure."
"If I assess Intune's user experience, I would say it is perfect and simple."
"My favorite feature of Microsoft Intune is the dashboard; the dashboard is very simple and user-friendly, and any person, even without prior knowledge, can understand it easily by seeing the interface dashboard."
"The solution is fully integrated with the Microsoft platform and the Autopilot feature, which is a unique feature."
"The ability to block and erase remote devices is valuable to us, especially when those devices are lost."
"Microsoft Intune has broad capabilities, particularly with mobile device management, with excellent management features like the ability to push configuration policies to all devices across the company and manage them effectively, strong configuration and compliance capabilities, and valuable application management that centralizes applications in one place and makes configuring or deploying them much easier."
"I would rate the stability as eight out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the tracking of the devices, as we can track Android devices and cross-functional devices in Workspace ONE in a simplified platform for managing all of our devices."
"One of the features that I enjoyed most was the integration with Azure AD because I could use VMware Identity Manager to standardize the User Principal Name coming from Active Directory. You have Azure AD Connect to do that. In between, if you have vIDM handling it, you can easily get the synchronization of users into your VM and standardize the User Principal Name. If you require quality assurance for handling it, you can actually count on the vIDM to do so. That was one of the main things I enjoyed about the product."
"Personally, VMware Identity Manager is useful for comparison purposes so that I can provide better solutions to my company's customers."
"It makes us more efficient in managing these devices, in lieu of not having it, that's for sure."
"Valuable features of this solution are the device management and the good integration with third parties."
"The most valuable feature of VMware Workspace ONE is the support for multiple devices. Not only iOS, and Android, but all kinds of platforms, including VR device management. Additionally, it has a tunneling feature, which no other solution provides. Other solutions have to integrate with other tools to have this functionality, whereas VMware Workspace ONE has its own application gateway tunnel."
"If a customer requires a true solution then I would say VMware is the right choice."
"The solution gets the job done, and we don't have to do the main configuration."
"The product's initial setup phase is easy."
"Some of the valuable features of the solution are the easy integration with processes, such as Single Sign-On, and overall WSO2 is straightforward and does not need customization."
"The Identity Server has been able to manage our complete user base with ease - including authorization and authentication."
"Comprehensive ecosystem."
"The single sign-on procedure itself, as well as the ability to connect to external user sources such as Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP servers, are the solution's most valuable features."
"It's very easy to implement everything."
"I am completely satisfied with WSO2 Identity Server and would definitely recommend it to other companies."

Cons

"The product needs to upgrade itself when the server is overloaded."
"It's only good for a Microsoft environment. While it works very well for Microsoft users but if you have other kinds of operating systems, it's very painful to use."
"There are a lot of updates happening on Microsoft."
"The generic answer to what can be improved is that I hope that the reporting needs to be a bit more interactive."
"I find the solution quite old school with not many features."
"To make it a perfect ten, it would be helpful if there was a better way to troubleshoot user issues, as I've had a few users with corrupt files before and had to redeploy it without knowing the root cause."
"I'm not able to scale because of the issues with macOS management."
"There are differences in protecting the data on a mobile device and on iOS. When you protect the data on iOS, you protect the entire device."
"it's very dependent on an active directory"
"We'd like the customization to be better."
"It hasn’t always been good, but getting better."
"VMware Workspace ONE should allow certain common settings and restrictions across multiple operating systems."
"We have a lot of problems when it comes to integrating with Active Directory."
"VMware Workspace ONE for the new users or the new clients that they try to procure and learn it, there can have difficulties. It does not have user-friendly portals. The portal seems to be more user-friendly in Microsoft solutions."
"One of the things that I want them to improve on, if possible, is the management of Mac devices, MacBook Pro, for example."
"Customer Service: This is an area that could use some improvement. We have had a few incidents where the level of support was not what it was pictured to be."
"This solution does not have BPM workflows already integrated, we had to integrate the BPM module externally."
"This solution requires extensive knowledge to be used effectively as certain areas of its use are not user friendly."
"The high availability architecture has to be improved."
"The price of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"The solution could improve its development from a user perspective."
"I found the initial setup to be very complex."
"This solution requires extensive knowledge to be used effectively as certain areas of its use are not user friendly."
"First, improvements have to been made in the high availability architecture. This has to do with the master-slave replication, and how the load balancing is handled between the identity servers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is not cost-effective as a standalone product."
"Its price is in the medium range. It is acceptable because you're paying for the features. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"If you're ever going to buy an Office 365 environment, then pricing is reasonable given all that it does, but if you're not, then you might find the pricing expensive."
"Microsoft Intune is expensive."
"Its pricing seems reasonable."
