What do I think about the stability of the solution?
For me and many other people, the general view is that Azure is very stable. We definitely plan to continue using it in the future.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This is a scalable solution and we have thousands of users in our organization.
How are customer service and support?
I have had to contact Microsoft support about a problem that I was having with my virtual machine, where it could not find my VM. When I called them, they solved the problem quite fast.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Prior to Azure, we used all of our Microsoft products on-premises.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was easy because we didn't do anything.
What about the implementation team?
We hired an IT consultant who is experienced in setting up cloud solutions. We did not do any of the setup ourselves.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The licensing fees depend on the number of users that we have.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, this product is very good and I can recommend it. It would be difficult to improve.
I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Executive Officer at a government with 201-500 employees
Hosts our whole data center and has a simple setup and very good support
Pros and Cons
- "We've got multiple tools on Azure, which is a very good feature of Azure. Our Palo Alto firewall and other things are hosted in Azure. We're using Sentinel as well, which is a security tool that is being used by our SOC teams. I've also used AWS, and I find Azure to be more Windows-driven. Although Azure is newer as compared to AWS, it is growing fast. Microsoft is working towards the betterment of Azure."
- "As compared to AWS, Azure can improve its functionality. In terms of the feature list, it is still lacking a bit as compared to AWS. AWS supports lots of types of operating systems, which Azure is still catching up with. Azure is mainly focused on the Windows system, and it is not yet there in terms of integration with other operating systems like Linux, Unix. Azure is slowly catching up."
What is our primary use case?
Our whole data center is on this basically. We are UK Export Finance, so we've got financial products there. All of our servers are hosted in Azure.
We are using an Azure subscription. We are on Azure Public Cloud, but we have got our own private subscription.
What is most valuable?
We've got multiple tools on Azure, which is a very good feature of Azure. Our Palo Alto firewall and other things are hosted in Azure. We're using Sentinel as well, which is a security tool that is being used by our SOC teams.

Azure is mainly focused on the Windows system, and it is not yet there in terms of integration with other operating systems like Linux, Unix. Azure is slowly catching up.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been working with Azure for the last five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Lots of glitches are still there. Microsoft is constantly working to resolve those. It is a new product as compared to AWS, so, obviously, it would have some glitches. Three years ago, it was full of bugs. It is much better and stable now.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is scalable. We've got around 450 users.
How are customer service and technical support?
Their technical support is very good. Their response is very good. At the end of the day, we're a business, and their business support is pretty good.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is quite straightforward. It is not at all hard.
We've got a third-party maintenance company that actually maintains our Azure space.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is not cheap. Its price could be a little bit less.
What other advice do I have?
It is a cloud solution at the end of the day. People can pick up any cloud solution, but Azure is renowned. Azure and AWS are the main competitors in the cloud market now. AWS comes first, and Azure comes after that. If your solution is predominantly in the Linux space, you should go for AWS. If you are primarily Windows-based, you should go for Azure.
I would rate Microsoft Azure an eight out of ten.

Data Engineer at Prodxia
An easy interface that is helpful for creating minimal environments to develop POCs
Pros and Cons
- "The incorporation of several kinds of storage, such as SSD Premium, enhanced the performance of machines."
- "Virtual networks might be improved by adding more rules for the validation of protocols and peripheral elements in security assurance."
What is our primary use case?
Our first deployment was CRM Dynamics, and it was done in the same way that we launched the previous version. However, it was easier than the last migration because the ease of preparing new machines with the wizard contributed to the quick implementation. It also includes great hardware specifications such as SSD Premium, which wasn't there until last year.
How has it helped my organization?
Azure has helped in the setup of operations with minimal environments for developing a proof of concept. The POC is the most useful and charming feature to get a minimal valuable product for all deployments. Customer satisfaction did increase the performance of sales, meanwhile, customer requirements were optimized.
What is most valuable?
This solution has an easy and (almost) intuitive administration interface to set up and deploy elements.
The incorporation of several kinds of storage, such as SSD Premium, enhanced the performance of machines.
The Machine Learning library for remote calls using REST and SOAP, as well as the legacy integrations of hybrid clouds are useful.
What needs improvement?
Virtual services might be improved by adding more rules for the validation of protocols and peripheral elements in security assurance. This feature could help to gain more visibility in compliance validation using cross-referencing between firewalls and legacy systems. By example, only mobile devices with Windows at phone, laptops, or tablets running either Windows 10 or Windows Mobile can print using Windows Server Hybrid Cloud Print, and this possibility cannot apply to another devices due to the feature uses an UNC path. UNC means for Universal Naming Convention, a standard for identifying servers, printers and other resources in a network. The UNC uses double slashes or backslashes to precede the name of the computer.
For how long have I used the solution?
Four years.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I was using hybrid solutions with several web hosting services, but several customers could not be accommodated. They needed to solve the problem of migrating huge data centers with confidential information, and the initial costs of proof of concepts were complicated if the isolation of every component relied on legacy systems.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated HostGator VPS before choosing this solution.

Consultant at a tech services company with 51-200 employees
Learning curve to get it up and running but it's scalable and flexible.
What is most valuable?
Scalability, affordability and the flexibility of the product.
How has it helped my organization?
- You can off-site required services to help mitigate risk
- You can take advantage of the scalability to have short term high intensive processes be used by their services
- You can totally take away the need for any server hardware in your organisation
What needs improvement?
Probably the 2 main areas where things could be improved are getting direct console access to VM's and its Azure backup solution to add backup types (eg System State).
For how long have I used the solution?
3 months
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
We went with the volume license of credits and still find it difficult to activate those credits as there is a particular website you have to go to.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There has been documented issues with stability, however we did not experience it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
No issues encountered.
How are customer service and technical support?
Customer Service:
Good, I can shoot email questions and get responses in a good amount of time.
Technical Support:I haven't had to raise a technical support for Azure though for Office 365 I have and I've found it excellent.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We looked at AWS, a locally based cloud provider and a datacentre.
How was the initial setup?
It was a learning curve to get it up and running. If I had prior training I would have found it straight forward but the time lines for implementation meant I had to "dive in".
What about the implementation team?
In-house
What was our ROI?
We are able to provide services to clients that allows us get a good ROI once we have deployed Azure to them.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
- Setup cost with Azure is minimal for what they are supplying. Everything takes less than 10 minutes to deploy.
- Day to Day costs is what you use, we can now review those costs and look at the new features (Automation) to make those costs even more efficient.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We looked at AWS, a locally based cloud provider and a datacentre.
What other advice do I have?
Get onboard with Microsoft and the Azure team and listen out to their partner training. They did a big Azure for IT Pros via their channel 9 msdn a few weeks ago. There is plenty of webinars and e-books which will teach you what you want to know.

Limitless infrastructure possibilities with good reliability and a potentially quick deployment
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable aspect of the solution is the limitless possibilities of the infrastructure."
- "Technical support needs improvement."
What is most valuable?
The most valuable aspect of the solution is the limitless possibilities of the infrastructure.
What needs improvement?
The documentation is out of date. It needs to be improved and modernized.
Technical support needs improvement.
I would like to see more flexibility surrounding what framework you can use for machine learning model creation.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very stable. There are no bugs or glitches. it's reliable and the performance is good. It doesn't crash or freeze.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution scales well. A company can expand it as necessary.
We have around 100 consultants using the solution.
How are customer service and support?
They do not seem to have enough technical support staff. Sometimes you have to contact them using email. You get the answer maybe three weeks after that email. It's available, however, it's not enough, and it's not very fast.
How was the initial setup?
In terms of the initial implementation, how difficult or easy it is depends on the services. The most common deployments are pretty clear and it's pretty simple, however, in some cases, it's very difficult.
The deployments can be fast. For the simplest ones, five minutes is enough. However, sometimes when you are trying to use a specific service, for example, the cloud solution, it could take days or weeks just to get it available.
What about the implementation team?
We have had a partner support us with the implementation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay a licensing fee on a yearly basis. I don't have details in terms of the exact costs. Sometimes there are extra costs here and there.
What other advice do I have?
We're a partner.
Inside the cloud, I have experience using different kinds of products like databases products virtual machines, etc.
I'd advise new users to prepare for certification. The most basic one is fine. Companies should preview the solution before they start any project.
I would rate the solution at an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to launch projects, reliable, and good support
Pros and Cons
- "The advantage of Microsoft Azure is its simplicity. It's easy to launch a project. However, the problem with this kind of solution is the reliability for the customers. You have to be sure to stay with Microsoft."
- "Microsoft Azure is not always a user-friendly solution. There are too many people who develop this solution. For the end-users, sometimes it's not really fun to use or simple to use. It could be improved."
What is most valuable?
The advantage of Microsoft Azure is its simplicity. It's easy to launch a project. However, the problem with this kind of solution is the reliability for the customers. You have to be sure to stay with Microsoft.
What needs improvement?
It's not always simple to manage the team who use it. Sometimes customers abuse the capacity and it's not always easy to bill the department for the usage.
Microsoft Azure is not always a user-friendly solution. There are too many people who develop this solution. For the end-users, sometimes it's not really fun to use or simple to use. It could be improved.
It's difficult to stop the solution when you have started, you need to use it for the long term. You have to make a good choice when you start the project with Microsoft or with Amazon too. You will have the same problem, once you choose one you have to commit.
When a feature doesn't exist in Microsoft Azure, generally we can use other software that does the job very well, such as backups or supervision. Any products to help the customers and engineers to do a good job, such as managing large infrastructure. There is a lot of solution to make it work well.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft Azure for approximately three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of the solution was good we have not had a problem.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is good, there are nearly no limits, and simple to do. However, it is difficult to see the limit.
How are customer service and support?
My engineers sometimes have used the support, I don't have any feedback about troubles with the support. I think the support is good. I don't have bad feedback.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment of the solution is quick and easy.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others is to be sure if they choose the cloud it is the right choice for them. A customer can be in a hybrid solution, or cloud, or on-premise solution. I prefer the hybrid solution, in the same project. It's a choice they need to make for the long term.
I rate Microsoft Azure an eight out of ten.

Director of Analytics and Cognitive Computing at a consultancy with 11-50 employees
Straightforward setup, helpful support, but better dashboards needed
Pros and Cons
- "The solution has enabled us to provide advanced indicators and analytics to the client on their data."
- "There are always new features to add in terms of additional indicators, improving the looks of the dashboard and stuff. There are some dashboards that are not attractive, we are looking to make them fancier and nice-looking."
What is our primary use case?
We use Microsoft Azure to store our data and build analytical tools on the platform. Our Trade Insight Dashboards allow users to explore trade and investment data for more than 150 countries. Users can discover the most traded products of each country, where they are sent to, where do opportunities lie, and which industry has the most potential.
How has it helped my organization?
Our data is kept in a secure, reliable, scalable platform. Data is easily available to our consultants and customers from anywhere around the world. We no more have on-premise servers. Azure has helped our digitalisation process and was key to our latest success.
What is most valuable?
The ability to scale up and down the azure services when needed. We could better manage our costs.
What needs improvement?
We work mostly with the data services and the SQL database features. We like the optimisation recommendations we get such as creation of indexes etc. What I would like to see further is some basic data profiling stats or charts representing data stored to be integrated in the SQL database services instead of using other services such as the Azure Data Catalog.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft Azure for approximately two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Microsoft Azure has been stable for us, we have not faced any issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have found Microsoft Azure to be scalable. Our business has not been growing very fast on the solution but it has the capability of expanding.
We can keep track of how many people are downloading the applications and there are approximately 2,000 people using the solution.
How are customer service and support?
We have been in touch with technical support several times. The assistance and support provided was very good. 4 to 5 stars on average.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not complicated.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others before implementing this solution is to be well-documented in your needs and to have support from a solution provider. Additionally, be aware of exactly what support you might require before starting.
I rate Microsoft Azure a seven out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Pros and Cons
- "To me, the most valuable Azure features are AKS, Cloud SQL, security, and account management."
- "Azure installation is complicated. When we first deployed Azure, it was challenging."
What is our primary use case?
I have developed a platform on Azure for the semiconductor industry. Azure is an excellent choice for enterprises in sectors like semiconductors, biochemistry, etc.
What is most valuable?
To me, the most valuable Azure features are AKS, Cloud SQL, security, and account management.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using Microsoft Azure for a couple of years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Azure is as stable as most cloud providers like AWS and Google Cloud.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Azure is stable but not as scalable as I'd like. In terms of scalability, AWS is better than Azure. In my organization, we have 500 or so employees.
How was the initial setup?
Azure installation is complicated. When we first deployed Azure, it was challenging. By contrast, AWS is easy to install and maintain. Azure is tough. It takes from one to two weeks to fully deploy. Our technical team responsible for deploying and managing Azure has 30 people.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Azure eight out of 10. Azure is difficult to deploy at first, but we have the money to develop, maintain, and support it.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Microsoft Azure
