Celonis could improve by expanding its use beyond finance areas into infrastructure domains, such as networks and server utilization. Also incorporating generative AI features would be beneficial.
Celonis' data engineering processes should be transformed into a low-code structure. Excessive coding is still required across the Starter Kits, where the market is focusing on low-code automation or transformations. The tool's UI should also be more intuitive. The data engineering pipeline within Celonis is highly technical. The interface in future versions of Celonis can have a drag-and-drop format with a more intuitive configuration. If you check other solutions like Power BI, business professionals can use it without technical experience, but usually, the same person won't be able to use Celonis freely. In the standard deployment of Celonis, you will need one project manager, an expert value architect, and two or three developers to manage the design pipeline. If your organization has a partner for executing all the Celonis pipelines, then it must be ensured that a COE is assigned in-house for hypercare needs. For instance, if some KPIs need to be changed or if irrelevancy is found, maintenance needs to be implemented every year or every six months for KPI adjustments and rebuilding of sources or logic. The aforementioned maintenance tasks for Celonis are usually carried out by an in-house COE; without a COE, maintenance can become challenging.
With Celonis, the way to use the product is one of the main difficulties users face in our company. In our company, we use Celonis for analysis, KPIs, and dashboards, and though the creation of new views is not too difficult for me, I cannot use all the luxurious things that we use in Celonis in our company while dealing with the analysis part. In general, the tool is easy to use, but our company doesn't get the luxury of using all the components in the analysis area of the product.

I prefer to see S/4HANA in the marketplace. With Celonis it’s a CU app for HANA, but it's for ECC for all of them. Using the other apps and connections is limited for us. For example, we need inventory management, and we use the S/4HANA, but we don’t have any application and connection for this process in the marketplace. This is a gap for my business.
Since the solution has a lot of features, it should improve on training. The features are sometimes overwhelming. The product must focus on training for low-code and no-code people.
First-time users would need help from the support team to implement the solution. The support costs are very high. We must pay a very high price if we need to involve the support team.
I would like to see additional features, such as starting up a kind of prototype based on the domain. For example, in the insurance domain, they could provide templates for top-tier processes. Currently, we are stating our own processes. Additionally, it would be helpful if they could categorize processes into tier levels, such as tier one, two, and three, and provide guidance on aligning oneself accordingly. This could be useful in considering costs and other factors.

The pricing policy is not affordable in Ukraine. For example, in Kazakhstan, we have some negotiations with Azerbaijan country. Telecom is one of the biggest telecom companies in Kazakhstan, but this was a little bit expensive for them. Now, I think they decided to postpone it because of the price policy. We could start several projects, and we already have clients that are interested, but the only concern was pricing. You only need processes to return the money. You need process, you already have the process, but say you need to return $50,000 or $100,000 every month. However, in the areas where we work, meeting such a high standard is quite challenging. For example, online loans. It's most likely an interesting case. However, with others, such as finances, some efficient method to make it efficient and return on money is rather challenging. Make it more than efficient.

I'd like to see a couple of algorithms that can better identify the bottlenecks and provide a better view of those bottlenecks. That's a futuristic approach on this tool.
I would really appreciate it if Celonis had significant compatibility with robotic process automation solutions. Once they define the process and understand it, streamline it, optimize it, and take inputs around it. When they reconfigure the process, there should be good compatibility with any of the automation tools, wherein I can integrate for robotic process automation, where I can streamline many of these processes on the application itself. Today, I need to extract this process and reload it into other tools, like UiPath, to integrate them with Automation Anywhere. If this tool can provide that efficiency, that would be great. I'm a data analytics guy. I lead a data analytics team. So technically, I would primarily look at if this can give me a visualization opportunity and integrate that in terms of the data.
They need to improve the root cause analysis because they label symptoms as root causes. In addition, they need to provide readymade value stream mapping. There are several models in value stream mapping, like first pass yield and rolled throughput yield, and these concepts are brought in as a measure in the Process Explorer. It will be beneficial to anybody who wants to complete a workshop.

We would like this solution to be more flexible in how it interacts with other cloud-based database solutions, so that we can operate more seamlessly. We would also like the data compression element of the solution to be improved. This would allow us to be more efficient with our data storage.
Nothing comes to mind in terms of improvement. I believe they are pretty much convinced, and they do a good job at it, nothing comes to mind that they should improve on. In my opinion, because Celonis is not automated, this is something that should be considered. They will, I believe, be required to do so in the future. They can have the best possible part and potentially an automation solution if they do the scripting. However, it is not an automation tool; rather, it is a process mining solution. They're doing process mining, so they might as well do automation. Celonis should develop their machine learning. That is an area that could improve. Celonis should have the ability to automate in the next release, in my opinion. The price could be scaled down a bit to be cheaper.
1. The marketplace should offer process connectors for Oracle JDEdwards, and Peoplesoft. 2. If we can have prebuilt apps and a process cockpit for Oracle EBS Warehouse Management and Inventory Management. 3. We need more documentation and examples of PQL language. That would be an improvement. 4. Importing data into Celonis should provide date/month/year import options so that you can import specific periods of data. 5. Licenses are costly and calculated based on APC and the number of users. It should offer a more flexible option for initial data uploads. A pay-as-you-go model is not available yet.
The one thing that could be improved is the guides are not getting updated to cover new features and upgrades, which means we can't use them at their full potential. In addition, the development could be done more quickly, so we don't have to search online for solutions.

Celonis has a simulation module that can only simulate based on the data it was mining from the systems. We would like to have the option to add other activities that are not happening in the systems and be able to simulate that impact as well. In other words, we want to be able to extend the simulation module with these additional features. For example, we would like to see improvement of the simulation capabilities to include a BPMN-compliant modeler. That is, we would like to be able to connect the simulation to the BPMN modeler. I think it's one of the features that is missing in Celonis.
I have noticed Celonis and Azure, as Infrastructure-as-a-service do not communicate well with each other. Since Celonis has recently acquired PAF they would try to synergize their operations with Microsoft tools. In the next couple of years, they should be more connected to the Microsoft ecosystems. In the long term, they should integrate more with SAP which is a partner of Microsoft. This would result in cost efficiencies.
The Process Query Language (PQL) native language used in Celonis needs improvements. It has most of the process-related functions but we have queries from clients that cannot be done in PQL. Most of the KPIs are done in PQL, if we could have support for other languages, such as Python. We could directly configure our KPIs using these other languages and it would be a great help. When I am uploading data to Celonis it sometimes fails and this should be fixed in an upcoming release.

The price could be better, but complexity is the biggest problem. Celonis is quite easy to operate once the customizations are done. You need a large amount of skill and knowledge to work with the tool. You need to understand it and know more than the basics. In other words, when something good has been done using Celonis, it's very easy to use, and you can benefit from the dashboards. It takes a huge amount of effort to build a good dashboard in Celonis because of the complexities of understanding how all those different processes work together, calculate them, and build them in Celonis. If you need to do something custom or create an analysis on your own, you'll need to learn a lot, and it'll take weeks. This is not a self-service tool. Let's be honest. Many companies say that they have thousands of Celonis users, and this is probably true. But I don't really think that Celonis is an application that should be used in the organization by general operational people. This is more a tool for global process owners or process improvement functions. I would like to see alerts, better self-service capabilities, and cross-applicational KPIs in the next release.

In terms of providing some admin-related data, the product could be better. We have a number of users using Celonis and sometimes they're not really sure how much of the dashboard to pay attention to. There should be dashboards that are catered more to administrators. If there was a way to educate those users as well, that would be helpful. The solution needs to implement more automation aspects into the product. Right now, it's lacking.

It should be more flexible. It is not particularly flexible in the way it works, and it is quite rigid. It has some very strong structures that you have to follow. It could certainly be made more user-friendly to understand and should have fewer requirements for manipulation of the data to create the visualizations. We should also get better support from Celonis, and they also need to make the licensing model slightly different.

Right now in Pakistan, we need to educate our customers and clients on the importance of data mining. We are focusing on that subject and that area to educate our customers and to show them the importance of data mining to help improve their businesses. We just adopted Celonis and have offered it to our customers for a couple of months. So I do not have vast experience.
Celonis is the global leader in execution management. Powered by its process mining core, Celonis has evolved from its beginnings as a Process Mining company into an execution management pioneer, enabling companies to unlock execution capacity and perform at full potential. Celonis offers advanced technology in data execution, combining real-time process data, the intelligence to make sense of that data, and the execution capacity to take immediate, decisive action.
