Good backup solution but challenges with the stability
It is recommended that people know what they are starting with. A part of our challenge was we bought and needed to implement it. So by the time we went to implement it, we were running into support issues. Also, make a market comparison to ensure that the product you choose is what you want to end up with. I would give it a six out of ten because restoring from a backup takes longer than usual. It should happen in a matter of hours, not a matter of days. We are yet to have an experience when trying to restore from Acronis that we haven't had to wait at least a couple of days for our server to be available for testing or working.

Global deduplication, stable, and flexible licensing options
I give the solution ten out of ten. This solution offers one dashboard to manage the BC con, disaster recovery plan, DR solution, and backup as well as different licensing options, unlike other OEM products. We are the system integrators for our clients, so we design the solution as per the customer's requirements. We provide several solutions options to our clients such as Druva inSync, Druva Phoenix, and Arcserve UDP with the specifications and the client makes a decision based on their requirements. I would advise potential users to first be clear on whether they are going to use it as a backup solution for compliance purposes, just wanting to take the backups of files and servers, or for instant recovery. The IQ and RPO discussion with our customers usually takes 30 minutes. I recommend this solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In our recent experiences, Acronis Cyber Protect proved most valuable during instances of colleagues facing migration challenges due to ransomware impacts. In these situations, where servers and backups were affected, having a backup stored in external drives or other devices within our data centers posed risks. To address this vulnerability, we decided to shift to a cloud backup solution."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that it backs up my systems transparently in the background, and I'm not even conscious of it."
"It is fast and easy for an image-based backup across all platforms."
"The most valuable feature is the quick restoration. We can restore the data quickly."
"The solution's most valuable features are its ease of use and its user-friendly interface compared to other tools."
"The ability to clone backups."
"I can encrypt the data, I can make it send me an email if it fails. It lets me choose which files I want to ignore during backup."
"For my first experience, it is the best software for backups, especially for a five-system backup."
"The recovery part of the product is very good."
"Arcserve has a feature called virtual standby (VSB), which has been very helpful because I already have a hot standby copy of my critical infrastructure. If something breaks, I can spin up that virtual standby copy in less than five minutes and ensure that my data is available to everyone and that business continuity is maintained."
"It is very stable."
"The most valuable features are the replication to the cloud and the deduplication."
"The most valuable feature of Arcserve UDP is the initiative UI and the logs are clear and detailed that are generated when there has been an issue or failure on the user's system. We only have to log onto the client's system to retrieve the information. It is possible to precisely identify the problem's location. The system categorizes and logs every step in a structured manner, selectively displaying only the essential logs. However, to view a comprehensive log, one must access the line machine log and examine the actual client for detailed logging."
"The interface is very refined, works fine, and is very intuitive most of the time. Scalability is nice. The multi-tenancy feature is very welcome. The integration with Linux works fine too."
"It is a very stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"The product provides instant and virtual standbys."

Cons

"The solution could improve by providing more database backup features and have better integration with many different types of databases. We cannot implement it in all of our infrastructures."
"We needed to have help from the vendor for implementation. The vendor used two personnel. We have system administrators and they do the server backups themself."
"The support and documentation must be improved."
"The technical support of Acronis Backup could improve. They have the depth of knowledge but the speed of the response could be quicker."
"This might be a lack of understanding on my part, but it's difficult to purge old backups."
"The biggest problem that we have is when the antivirus is installed, the whole machine runs very slowly and some of the machines hang."
"The solution could use a single sign-on integration that can default to the admin dashboard. Right now, it's only username and password. If you had had an additional two-factor authentication, this would be beneficial for me."
"The replication part and failover are areas in which improvements are required."
"The solution can use a lot of bandwidth when the scheduling is not done, it should auto-schedule itself. For example, if there are 50 users connected in the network at 12 o'clock and the backup is not scheduled. At this time the network offices are going to have performance issues when it is doing a backup. Having a feature to auto-schedule a time when the network is not being used often would be beneficial."
"In the most recent version of premium plus the replication has been removed, and it should re-added to the solution."
"The support could be more knowledgeable and faster."
"We cannot restore each user's mailbox. Each user's mailbox should be independently restorable. Also, this solution is very slow. If you select all of the servers, it runs for a long time... It needs to be faster. Finally, If anything happens to one server we should be able to switch to another server."
"A lot of their new technologies are not very good."
"The problem is just reliability. If the promises in the marketing material were realized in real life, it would be the perfect solution, but it's just the reliability issues."
"The technical support of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"I had an issue with Arcserve UDP during the failover and the secondary machine didn't get back online, even though it ran automatically. I faced the issue during a crisis situation. However, I haven't faced such a problem again."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an affordable product and fits within our customers' budgets."
"Licensing fees are billed annually and there are no extra charges."
"When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
"The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity."
"There is a license required for this solution and it can be on a monthly basis."
"Pricing is what it is. I don't shop around once I find a good solution. I insist they maintain ongoing support year after year for updates and tech support."
"I would say that at the pricepoint that it's at, it's definitely worth the money."
"The license is a perpetual license. The cost is an area for improvement."
"There is an annual license required for this solution and it is priced well."
"The pricing is moderate."
"The licensing cost is for one year. There are not any hidden costs involved in the pricing model of the solution."
"The solution is not very expensive, but it is not cheap."
"The solution is priced well compared to other solutions."
"The solution is expensive."
"Pricing is most likely comparable."
"The price of this product is high and it should be lower."

I agree with @Syed Abid Hussain. Arcserve is a true DR / Ransomware enabled solution for all businesses and when compared apples to apples to other solutions, very affordable. It is available in cloud, hybrid cloud and appliance, your choice. Use the cloud solution and keep what you have if you like, or replace it all with ARCSERVE. Is it good? I think it is underrated personally. Arcserve j...

Acronis is good but with very limited features also expensive. Arcserve has more features like Integrated DR, ransomware security, malware detection. different backups support, multiple hardware support. Also, pricing is lower than Acronis. if you need just backup service Acronis is good while Arcserve UDP is a full-fledged complete suite for small, medium & large-scale businesses.

Arcserve just received PC Editors choice, which isn't too shabby.  I've worked with Arcserve for a while and it is a "SET AND FORGET" solution when configured properly. I also know many who use it who only have issues due to misconfiguring the software. Never place it directly on your domain is a starter suggestion. Arcserve gives you: Global deduplication Direct-to-cloud backup WAN-optimized replication Agentless backup for VMware and Hyper-V Backup of CIFS/NFS Cross-platform Virtual Standby and Recovery P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V migrationWhat doesn't Acronis do? It does not have integrated DR and backup appliances,  Not secured from ransomware and malware (Arcserve uses SOPHOS) Limited to no tape support for devices No agentless Nutanix AHV backup and support of Nutanix Objects No support for Solaris / IBM AIX / HP-UX / FreeBSD / IBM System z No SLA/RTO/RPO reports Doe not have continuous availability and CDP No Email archiving So it truly depends upon what you are really looking for in a solution. I hope this helps.
