Gives us visibility into current critical security events and improves our time to respond
They send us alerts and have done a really good job of eliminating the false positives. Early on, there were quite a few. But as they learned about our organization and the roles of individuals within it, that has drastically gone down. For example, initially, they would say so-and-so ran a script. Now, they know who our sys admins are and that running that script is typical for them. The benefits are the visibility into current critical security events and the effect on our time to respond. Binary Defense has helped reduce our security alerts because we know where our trouble points are, or if we're missing things, and what we need to deploy. It has given us visibility into what to put in and that is how it has helped us the most. I would estimate it has reduced our security alerts by 60 to 70 percent. It has improved our security posture significantly. And because they do a lot of the management for us, it has reduced our team's workload. We only have to work on the stuff that's identified as something we need to work on, so it has definitely helped performance.

Accessible with good reporting and helpful quarterly meetings
Before bringing on ArcticWolf, it was a guessing game as to the risks we were actually facing. Everyone knows it's a matter of when - not if. However, you can never be sure how it's going to happen. With a small internal team, you cannot be everywhere. We knew we had to do something. Bringing on AW allowed us to: * Augment our existing staff without having to hire internally * Gain insight into areas of the environment we didn't have before * Identify areas for improvement in our processes/cybersecurity * Add to our toolkit without having to acquire/support the technology (e.g. SIEM) * Reduced our risk

Has a nice interface and good integrations but there should be an uninstall feature on the cloud
The solution provides more visibility than Zscaler. There's more security. It provides enhanced security with integration capabilities with third-party tools. The threat detection and response are easy. If you have a subscription for the Falcon Consultant Complete sublicense, then they will take care of your MDL service. They will assign their team to it, and they will manage your incident detection and monitoring. CrowdStrike will take care of it via its own expertise so you don't have to overload your existing resources. It helps improve our security posture by integrating with web security, email security, and other forms of security. There are also a lot of third-party tools. You have the opportunity for more alerts and security. CrowdStrike shares information with third-party tools that really help with visibility. The solution is constantly being updated. I've been satisfied with the interface.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable part of Binary Defense is its team of cybersecurity analysts. Their analysts filter out the noise and only forward the critical threats that require a response instead of false positives."
"The speed at which their services are reactive is valuable. Nowadays, when a threat hits an endpoint, you've got minutes, not hours or days. Their average response time is about four minutes on an alert. For anything that needs to be sent to us, it's about fourteen minutes, which is pretty good. They're the third SOC that I've used in fifteen years. By far, they are the quickest ones to act. When you're looking at prevention, that's a key factor."
"Binary Defense has a human service department that provides live monitoring for our systems."
"One of the main benefits of Binary Defense MDR is the ability to easily meet with their support team to discuss any issues we encounter."
"The customization has been the most valuable aspect and was really the reason we ended up selecting Binary Defense. They worked with us to provide exactly the level of support, features, response, and collaboration we needed."
"The case interface is Binary Defense MDR's most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature is reviewing tickets and the notes added by technicians."
"The best part about Binary Defense MDR is that it runs on everything, and they keep an eye on things 24/7."
"The agents give pretty good visibility into what is happening at the endpoint."
"They have a portal where you can evaluate and mitigate any vulnerabilities that you and your network might have."
"The most valuable aspect of this solution is the managed detection and response component."
"Arctic Wolf is our eyes and ears 24/7 because we can't possibly watch all of our alerts. We may see all of these alerts, but our attention is distracted because we're working on other things."
"We can effectively manage the massive amounts of security data that we receive from various sources such as firewalls, switches, endpoints, and other log sources."
"Security protection is the best feature of this product."
"The product provides integrations with several different SaaS applications."
"The visibility into our endpoints is huge."
"Crowdstrike has better support than Carbon Black."
"There are many different modules with this solution where vulnerability and inventory management can be carried out. The solution has a good dashboard and offers a lot of insights into your systems."
"The real-time response features are valuable for us."
"The threat intelligence of CrowdStrike Falcon is the most valuable feature."
"The overwatch module is the most valuable feature of CrowdStrike Falcon."
"As an end-point solution, nothing beats it, to be honest."
"CrowdStrike side, Falcon is the Endpoint Detection, Overwatch is the service that sits behind it. From a human point of view looks at the anomalies that normal AI and machine learning couldn't catch. So it is the combination of the two that really works well."
"It has good visibility, works well, and it is fast."

Cons

"The current reporting system could benefit from improvement."
"I don't find any downside to them, but if I have to put one, it would be consistent manpower or staffing. The only area where the solution can be improved is going to be with people. As they grow, they are struggling with the same thing that every other company is, which is getting talent and getting that talent to stay, but they've just revised their tiering system to go from a flat analyst and manager to a three-tier solution where it goes through two or three before it gets elevated. That seems to have worked out well, so if one level misses it, the next one picks it up, and it works out fine."
"Binary Defense MDR could be even better with additional features, like automatic scans and file quarantine."
"While my understanding is that they're working on this, I would like to see some more of the quantification or reporting."
"It's hard to think of anything that they need to improve on, but just to point out something, I would like to see them provide advanced XDR."
"I would like to see more frequent check-ins with our security status."
"We found a couple of bugs in the user interface."
"It's sometimes difficult to know when to engage Binary Defense or TrustedSec, their sister company. TrustedSec is more focused on offensive security, as opposed to the defensive security that the MDR solution provides. It would be awesome if there were a better bridge between that relationship for when we need to get more proactive services or when we need to do a penetration test."
"They focus on detecting administrator-level control compromises. Because they're focusing more on administrator-level compromise, they are less able to see if an individual user has been compromised. It is, admittedly, very difficult because they don't know what normal human behavior is. If a hacker compromises a human account and then acts just like the human, how are you ever going to notice, unless you have some inside knowledge of how the company works? For example, they overlook account lockouts on user accounts, whereas in our own alerting system, we do not. We review every account lockout, and if it is bad, we contact the person, whereas they think of that as noise because they're more focused on the administrator-level compromise."
"I have heard that the tool doesn't go right to the endpoints."
"While it isn't a regular occurrence, there have been some gaps in response to some support questions. Questions get answered, yet there are times it takes longer than I'm comfortable with."
"Arctic Wolf Managed Detection and Response's analysis and remediation parts could be improved. It's not bad, but it needs improvement."
"I would like to see them build the ability to co-sell an EDR platform, manage an EDR or manage the actual response, potentially from the issues that are coming up from the security risks."
"I would actually be interested in having fewer features at a lower price."
"In the future, I would like to see a summary report."
"More integrations with various security tools to improve data ingestion would be beneficial."
"It would be good if they fleshed it out a bit more, possibly with additional areas such as security awareness training. They could build that in. They're leveraging the same endpoint base that they have the security software on, but then they could offer a centralized portal or hub whereby someone like me could leverage it to track and put out security awareness training for people on all the common topics. I could have a centralized hub for everyone's results from that training and for the evidence that training occurred. It would be relatively straightforward, but it would add a lot for people in the compliance area. It would be a great expansion."
"I would love for the threat intelligence part to be more globalized to provide a tailored response to types of malware and ransomware that are trending in other regions. For example, they can add a feature to tell us that there are separate attacks in South Asia or East Asia occurring at these times, so we can supply those things to our environment and protect ourselves."
"CrowdStrike Falcon Complete could improve by having advanced features, such as SOC, and HDR. There would have been a lot of processes involved."
"The solution should include some sort of DLP capabilities."
"CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is not providing application control. This is a very useful feature in any endpoint security because if you want to block any malicious activity of any particular application, you can not block it in this solution. However, you are able to block hashes, but not executable files or processes. Additionally, this solution does not provide a user risk score. These are two areas that CrowdStrike Falcon Complete can improve on in the future."
"There have been some issues with Falcon Complete's performance."
"At the moment, nothing is missing in CrowdStrike Falcon Complete. I'm amazed by it. It's perfect and I'm not aware of any other vendors that provide its features, but it would also depend on the configuration and policy management of the solution, for example, I can bring you an EDR solution and configure it badly, so it won't do anything. It also depends on the people, not just the technology you're obtaining, so this is the most important thing to do for all solutions, even for firewalls. You can obtain a firewall and if you permit everyone to go through it, then it's useless. What could be improved in CrowdStrike Falcon Complete is its management console. Currently, that console is on the cloud, so if the cloud is compromised, then the management console would also be compromised, and that's quite risky."
"I want better integration with other security solutions; integrating with third-party apps wasn't as seamless as I expected."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very good. They are definitely competitive and they were lower at the time that we went with them."
"Binary Defense has changed its pricing model from being primarily based on the volume of data to one based on escalations and incidents they handle."
"The pricing isn't that bad, it's very competitive. I don't feel that it's over-priced and I don't feel that it's under-priced."
"From the initial cost that Binary Defense came in with, we pared it down quite a bit over the course of 30 or 60 days. My leadership would say that their cost was high, but realistically, they were in line with the market."
"The pricing is on target. Working with their sales team on pricing negotiations was a pleasant process. They were very respectful of the constraints we had and I feel that we're paying a fair price."
"The solution's price is spot on; if anything, it's slightly below the norm for most services. Compared to building the same team internally, it would cost more to create the same amount of capability than what we get from an external team. Price-wise, Binary Defense is in a great spot."
"It's valued at the right price. Even with the number of endpoints we have, we don't feel that it's a lot more than any competitor. In fact, it might be less expensive when you look at the fact that you're getting a full flex SOC out of it along with the tools."
"Binary Defense MDR is priced competitively and may be slightly lower than CrowdStrike."
"The pricing is pretty competitive."
"It is more expensive than CrowdStrike, but it also has more features. I don't remember the amount, but I do remember that it was on the higher side. I believe we have five sensors, and the sensors have a yearly cost. We don't have any additional costs, but I know that if we have more features, they will add to the cost."
"I find their pricing to be reasonable and competitive."
"I rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten."
"The pricing is fair."
"There is a license for this solution and everything is included. However, The price of the could be lower."
"The licenses are sold per user."
"We pay $50,000 for the 200 endpoints we have."
"I think the pricing is a little high."
"At approximately €60 per machine, per year, I think that it's a good price point."
"CrowdStrike offers training at an additional cost, so many organizations wouldn't want that route."
"Its licenses are expensive for small-scale companies."
"The average price is approximately $500 per customer."
