Great URL scanning and attachment scanning, but I would like more proactive threat analysis
The two main features that prove most beneficial for us are URL scanning and attachment scanning. URL scanning involves an automatic scan of links and emails. When a user clicks on a link within an email, the system promptly checks the link's safety. If the link is deemed safe, access is granted automatically. However, if it is flagged as unsafe, we receive feedback and notification to caution us about the potentially harmful link. At this point, we are presented with the option to proceed or return. I have personally witnessed the system identify a few unsafe links, making this the primary advantage of using the solution. The second crucial aspect is the scanning of attachments. When an email containing an attachment arrives, we receive a notification of the new email, along with information that the attachment is being scanned for threats. This additional layer of security provides peace of mind for our organization. While Microsoft Defender for Office 365 offers numerous features, these two stand out as particularly impressive and valuable to us.

Offers complete detection and simple management and is a user-friendly solution
It's very effective as a solution to prevent mobile app threats. It has a mobile MDX, mobile detection, and response session. As a comprehensive solution, Check Point offers a very granular and best-in-class experience. Compared to competitors like Fortinet, Trend Micro, Palo Alto, and Cisco, Check Point provides a superior solution according to both the MITRE and Gartner frameworks. For example, in a recent attack simulation, Check Point only allowed ten malicious emails through, while Fortinet allowed 1500 and Cisco allowed 1800. Check Point's email attack ratio is nearly 0.10%, while others range from 1% to 3%. This demonstrates Check Point's superior email filtering capabilities. Check Point's email cleaning ratio is 99.9%, significantly higher than the 98%, 95%, or 93% of its competitors. Moreover, Check Point Harmony Email incorporates AI technology within its security features. Harmony Email & Collaboration (HEC) provides full protection and addresses zero-day files. It's the best solution available, as others don't offer protection against zero-day attacks and rely on signature-based solutions. HEC is truly the best option.

Provides enhanced email security with potential agent compatibility issues
There are definitely features that Fortinet should work on. I'm not the right person to implement those features. For a portable cloud solution, a customer has more affinity towards a solution where endpoint security is already in place. In endpoint security, they are not at the latest quadrant. That is why a customer with existing endpoint security solutions like Trend Micro might prefer a main security solution from that vendor. If we go for FortiMail Cloud and have a separate endpoint security solution, there are two agents that have to sit on a customer endpoint. From that perspective, Fortinet policies add an extra load to the endpoint. Maybe other solutions have an advantage when it comes to Fortinet.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"At the moment we are satisfied with this product. It's a stable, scalable, and resilient solution for us."
"Microsoft Defender has a feature to protect each and every attachment. Even if it's an encrypted attachment, it will check for any potential threats."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365's most valuable feature is its performance."
"Does a thorough job of examining email and URLs for malicious content."
"Defender helps us prioritize threats across our organization."
"The most valuable feature is protection against malicious links, fishing, and impersonation. You can train people to be aware of these threats, but they're not always careful. When they're using their phones between meetings, they click on a link, and it's game over."
"The benefit that stands out to me is the ability for multiple individuals to collaborate simultaneously within the same document. Additionally, there is the option to save the document directly in the integrated OneDrive or SharePoint."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 helps people to work remotely. It is a secure solution. We don't need to use our company's computers or get VPN connections to the networks. I can control how they share screens and what they send to the devices. It keeps our organizations confidential and sensitive information safe."
"The product's environment is easy to work and comprehensive."
"The stuff that it's picking up and blocking and stopping from coming into our environment has been fantastic."
"The most valuable feature is spam detection and phishing site prevention, which Microsoft couldn't catch, yet Check Point does."
"In my opinion, it's one of the best products. It does protect other things like Slack and Salesforce, which are more about communication."
"This product enhances faster and more secure sharing of information among colleagues from different departments."
"The sanitization feature of Check Point Harmony Email and Collaboration is valuable."
"Check Point Harmony Email and Collaboration offers online support and has tight integration with Microsoft."
"The threat management database provides consistent updates."
"The product's initial setup is straightforward and simple, making it an easy-to-use tool."
"The scanners with FortiMail are valuable."
"It has the best feature for processed mail analysis."
"Fortinet is good at providing security beyond our email solution assets."
"Content disarming and analysis are essential features in our email security setup"
"The most valuable features are the low price and its ability to integrate with other Fortinet products."
"I am impressed with the tool's ability to setup rules and destinations. It also helps to monitor suspicious items."
"This solution is easy to install. The deployment takes about forty-five minutes."

Cons

"The changes to customer service, specifically the new model for support agreements, are not favorable."
"About eight months ago, we started to measure the quantity of phishing and spam that we have been receiving, and it has been increasing a lot. That means that protection for our email is not as good as we were expecting."
"Configuration at the mid-level could be improved for the support team."
"We are always looking for others tools to increase automation on tasks. There can be better integration with other solutions, such as PowerPoint and email."
"The pre-sales cost calculations could be more transparent."
"I'd like some additional features any product can give me to protect our environment in a better way."
"Too many false positives and lacks an accurate capability to detect malicious SharePoint sites."
"Microsoft Defender for Office 365 should improve the troubleshooting tools. It's unclear whether the device is blocked at the firewall level or at the device itself. The granularity needed for troubleshooting is currently lacking. From my perspective, Microsoft should address this issue to benefit many users who likely share the same sentiment."
"Check Point should integrate with features available in Barracuda - like more advanced threat management."
"We still get some false positives. There are times when legitimate stuff gets flagged and it could be that somebody is expecting a very important email but they don't end up getting it. On the flip side, when we alert Check Point about stuff like this, it is corrected, so they are improving. That's a plus."
"A signature-based filter could improve the solution's AI model for spam email."
"Harmony Email & Collaboration could be improved by making the whitelist available on the website and application level."
"I need to go to Check Point's admin portal if I want to see the license list and the details of the users of the tool, making it an area of concern where some ease of process should be provided from an improvement perspective."
"They must provide security to more email service providers."
"The cost is a little bit expensive."
"There are a few areas for improvement. One is the occasional sluggishness or latency, which is likely due to the cloud-based nature of the solution. So, the performance can be better."
"The dashboard could use improvement."
"The downside of this solution is that it is difficult to implement policies on FortiMail."
"Email sorting is missing from this solution."
"Fortinet FortiMail Cloud doesn't have AI features, making it an outdated tool for me."
"In endpoint security, they are not at the latest quadrant. That is why a customer with existing endpoint security solutions like Trend Micro might prefer a main security solution from that vendor."
"The URL filtering and handling should be enhanced because it doesn't support all languages. I believe that this would be easy to enhance in the future."
"Fortinet policies add an extra load to the endpoint."
"The setup of the rules can be improved. I think it should be simplified and would be the best improvement in the system."

"The product’s price is very high."
"The pricing is competitive."
"The price is very good, based on what they deliver."
"It should cost around $60,000. We bought it as a bundle, so everything comes together in the license. That is standard."

"The product's price is reasonable."
