The interface is easy to use and gives you a solid overview
The cloud-based deployment was straightforward, but the on-prem deployment was in a highly complex ecosystem. Omada has matured since then. I wouldn't say that it isn't straightforward, but it depends on the customer. A standard deployment is relatively easy, but it can be more painful if you need a lot of customization. We deployed the cloud solution in around four months, nearly meeting the 12-week benchmark. The on-prem deployment took three years. It was a highly complex ecosystem that was dependent on other systems. Depending on the size of your environment, you need a product owner and some specialists for maintenance. My last customer was a university with a complex environment. They had around 12 people involved in maintenance at that organization. Typically, it's between 2-5 people.

It's easier to customize and maintain our code
I worked on two different projects based on ForgeRock, and both are automated deployments. One is a UI-based deployment. It's an automated process using some scripts. The deployments are done through Octopus, so it's also automated. We first deploy the essential components of AM and then implement additional configurations like Amster Imports. After that, we import all the SAML Federation data and add some certificates. We have two teams of five and three team members working on the different deployment processes. One is working on the dev side, another is looking at the higher environment, and one is managing the data. In another project, I'm the only developer. We also deploy on the dev environments so that anyone can test new features, configurations, and client requirements. They can test it on the dev environment, but a team of four people manages higher environments. The Access Management component involves the most customization, which takes around 15 to 20 minutes because of the need to import the Amster configuration. If another deployment is simultaneously happening, it may be a little slower and take around 30 minutes. The other components, like the user data stores, take about five to seven minutes. It's another five to 10 minutes for Identity Management. After deployment, the maintenance is mostly checking for security vulnerabilities. If ForgeRock shares security vulnerabilities or advisories, we check to see if there is something inside we need to maintain. Other than that, we just install updates when they add features each month.

Offers reliability through features associated with RBAC
Upgrading and making changes to the product is very difficult. It is difficult when you are upgrading the product because sometimes you cannot directly upgrade from one version to another version. You have to go to the lower version and then upgrade to the higher version, which is the biggest drawback of Oracle products. There are no additional features in the tool currently, and it has been the same for the last ten years. I want to see AI features in the tool so it becomes easy for implementers. There should be a change in the installation and deployment part, which is very heavy, due to which the team requires a lot of time, like two to three weeks. It should be easy to implement the tool in two or three days.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Support-wise, working with Omada has been good. We have very good direct interactions and fast responses."
"I appreciate all the support we receive from Omada."
"The best feature in Omada Identity is that it enables us to implement standardized employee life cycle processes so that we don't have to create them ourselves. We can then use the standard workflows. The breadth and scope of the solution’s IGA features also fulfill our requirements."
"Technically, the product does everything one would expect from an identity and access management platform. The product offers robust handling of Active Directory resources."
"I'm not using Omada, but the interface is easy to use and gives you a solid overview of your identities."
"Omada's user interface is elegant and easy to work with. I like Omada's ability to automatically generate accounts for new hires and allow them access to all required systems by established policies. Around 80 percent of workers can start working immediately on their first day without requesting further access."
"The most valuable feature is the automatic provisioning and reconciliation of things like the Active Directory groups and memberships."
"The most valuable aspect of the product is that it is Microsoft-based and it supports all Microsoft technology."
"Easy to customize and adaptable to any environment."
"The most valuable features of ForgeRock are social login and data protection."
"Even though we have very small business interests with them today, they see that we plan on growing drastically over the next two years. Therefore, we have excellent support and we are now at a point where we are not calling tech support. We pick up a phone and call the Account Manager and they'll get everything resolved for us. We don't have to queue along with everybody else and go through a long process."
"I like the way it is handling authentication and authorization."
"It works very well, especially in Identity and Access Management. It helps detect anomalies in user behavior patterns."
"ForgeRock is an extensive product with many functionalities and capabilities, much more than many other tools combined."
"We used it to implement multi-factor authentication and to improve our security posture as well as reducing the potential for attacks."
"The product is easy to use in a development environment."
"The most valuable feature is the set of out-of-the-box connectors."
"The most important features that have impacted our environment recently are the Single Sign-On solution, role based provisioning, and the automated provisioning of accounts to target systems."
"The support service of Oracle is good. We use it a lot and their response is quick."
"The features I find most effective in Oracle Identity Governance include size and scale management, which is good for large organizations."
"Good features are the RBAC and UI customization."
"Identifying connector framework for unifying provisioning capabilities from OIM."
"The most valuable feature is the flexible automation functionality which has optimized our user access privilege management. This has allowed us to create and delete user accounts more accurately and efficiently. This feature has enabled us to save time and resources needed to perform mundane manual tasks."
"It's a stable and scalable solution."

Cons

"The biggest issue, which is the reason why we are transitioning from their product to SailPoint, is the overall user experience."
"If I had to name one thing, it would be the user interface (UI)."
"I am not working with the product, but they have this BI tool for role-based mining, and I think that should be included in the core product rather than an add-on."
"The account management integration isn't bad, but it isn't plug-and-play like Microsoft Azure. You need some deep development knowledge to set up the connectors."
"The web GUI can be improved."
"The security permission inside Omada needs improvement. It's tricky to set up."
"They need to improve the cost for small companies."
"The solution should be made more agile for customers to own or configure."
"The user interface could be improved as it is cumbersome and outdated. It doesn't have a responsive UI."
"They should improve the solution by include reporting."
"We would like this solution to be developed for use with mobile applications."
"I don't think ForgeRock directly supports integrations with Slack, making it an area where improvements are required."
"The only problem with ForgeRock is that it is derived from an open-source product, so sometimes it's a bit unstable."
"As with any complex software platform, there is a learning curve to using ForgeRock, and it may require specialized expertise to implement and manage effectively."
"It should be a little bit easier to implement. It is user-friendly, but there is always scope for improvement."
"In an upcoming release, the solution could improve by limiting the need to do customizations."
"I have yet to see its full functionality exercised in my organization."
"The solution requires too much infrastructure and should be less code-heavy."
"Oracle Identity Governance, particularly version 12c, can handle multiple scenarios, but for a regular user, I found the use cases not that extensive, so this is an area for improvement. The implementation process for Oracle Identity Governance is also a bit more complex than how you implement competitor products, and this is another area for improvement in the solution. Technical support for Oracle Identity Governance also needs some improvement. Another area for improvement in Oracle Identity Governance is its documentation. Currently, it's lacking when compared to SailPoint. What I'd like to see in the next release of Oracle Identity Governance is a bit more scope for AI-based Identity governance. If the solution has built-in intelligence, that will give it more leverage. Another feature I'd like to see in Oracle Identity Governance in the future is the option for managers to provide access to others via mobile devices or phones."
"OIA needs to improve its governance features."
"Automation of validation exercises performed by humans over Recon Exceptions generated as a result of an access synchronization event over a user's need for access or not."
"Identity Governance is a difficult tool to work with. You have to input many models to understand what is happening with the logins. The user interface is not so good. And a lot of the features we use aren't available out of the box."
"The cost of this product needs to be reduced."
"The user interface experience needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is okay."
"The pricing for Omada Identity is fair."
"Omada is expensive."
"It is licensed per managed user per year."
"It is expensive. Fortunately, I had a very good procurement manager on my side, but they are expensive. The closest competitors are also very expensive. You get a full-fledged solution that can do everything you dream of, but you pay for everything."
"My client deals directly with the Omada Identity team in terms of licensing. I never look at pricing, so I'm not aware of how much the solution costs, but it's worth the money. Often, when you begin to use Omada Identity and it takes a while to set up, it'll be irreversible, and you'd depend on and focus more on the functionality of the solution, rather than its price tag."
"It is not cheap. None of these solutions are cheap, but we have good pricing at least for now from a licensing perspective."
"It is not cheap. It is expensive, but compared to what we did almost three years ago, it is value for money. It is worth it."
"ForgeRock is an expensive solution."
"The license is purchased annually per user. However, you can negotiate if you are signing for a longer period of time. When comparing this solution to others on the market it is priced fair, it is not at the top of the price range or at the bottom end."
"We have multiple clients we are looking at right now. We are at a very small number, however, the idea and the goal is to grow. We are looking at about $100,000 and $50,000 a minimum a month cost. That'd be minimum maybe in a couple of years."
"Its price is comparable to other products in the market."
"Its licensing is on a yearly basis, but it also depends on the contract that you have with the vendor. They have multiple types of contracts. There are additional costs to the standard licensing fees. If you need some of the features, you have to pay more."
"ForgeRock's pricing is more competitive than other products."
"It's a bit pricey and could be more competitive."
"The pricing of the solution is fair but I do not have the full details."
"Oracle Identity Governance is an expensive solution."
"I do not know specific pricing but the product is expensive when compared to other OIM products."
"The licensing cost for Oracle Identity Governance is very high, so I'd rate it two out of five."
"The cost of support and upgrading to the next release are both expensive."
"The licensing is expensive."
"Price-wise, the tool is a little bit costly."
"Oracle Identity Governance is expensive."
"The price is based on the number of users per year."
