Has the ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system
The ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system, as opposed to just an app running is the most valuable aspect. We also like the unattended sessions. Those are probably the two most important things to us. It's important because we can't do certain things when it is just an application running. We have to have it run as a service with the computer so that we can do certain things and use certain functions. As far as the unattended session is concerned, we're able to connect to people's computers without them actually doing anything. We're able to connect to servers and other systems when there's nobody there.

Easy to set up and reliable, but needs an additional control panel
We've had issues with security breaches. The main problem is that if we are using this with the individual computer and using a remote desktop, there are some loopholes there. When I implemented this on an individual computer within two or three days it got captured. There is a problem with the printing and sharing of this program. There is a lot of customized software leaving the market due to this. If somebody wants to run a specific program with the specific settings, they don't want full access to the computer. Then there are some problems that have to be resolved. We'd like to have an additional control panel available in order o more easily give resources to the computers. There are a lot of restrictions and having a program panel would make things easier. It would help us set up the right access and permissions.

Pros

"The ability to change the way that the client works to a service so that we can get a little bit deeper into the operating system, as opposed to just an app running is the most valuable aspect. We also like the unattended sessions. Those are probably the two most important things to us. It's important because we can't do certain things when it is just an application running."
"The installation of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services was easy."

"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"The solution now includes a multi-screen feature which is great."
"In terms of the valuable features, I like the profile, the new version is really good."

Cons

"If they included some sort of monitoring system for managed services so we can have it all in one package, that would be helpful. There are managed services solutions that allow us to remote into the computers, but a lot of them have too much overhead. Usually, the remote connection is not as simple and as fast and cannot be run as a service."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services could improve by having graphical acceleration."
"The initial setup of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is not the easiest. You need to have a certain understanding of how Microsoft is provisioning the solution to be able to set it up and use it."
"Sometimes the server stops working, and we don’t know why. Occasionally we’ll get a message to the effect of "There is no remote license.""
"The solution is unsuitable for direct external internet connections. You must set up a VPN and password handling to use it."
"Microsoft Desktop Services is stable but it takes up a lot of resources in the CPU. It's a bit heavier than some solutions."
"We've had issues with security breaches."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services could improve by having a better application for managing multiple sessions. There used to be one but they stopped supporting it."
"In the next release, I would like to see better performance over slower networks, and integration with Linux, but this is something that we're going to get out of Microsoft in terms of a unified solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's very inexpensive. The seats are $25 monthly apiece or something. There aren't additional costs that I'm aware of."
"The price of Microsoft Remote Desktop Services is reasonable. The solution can come for free for some clients with certain agreements."
"There is a licensing cost."
"The tool's pricing is high in the Slovenian market. I rate it a nine out of ten."
"The solution has a perpetual license and it is purchased upfront."
"Microsoft Remote Desktop Services comes free as part of Microsoft Windows."
"The tool must be cheaper."
"It's not an expensive solution."
"It will probably cost about $500 USD to get the resources set up in the cloud."

What is your experience regarding pricing and costs for Microsoft Remote Desktop Services?
I've never had an issue with it. I've always thought the pricing for RDS was reasonable.
What needs improvement with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services?
The current process I have to go through to get a Windows 11 VM up and running is difficult. Windows 10 worked a whole lot better than Windows 11.
