Has limited functionality, logging uses extensive resources; automation replay is great
This solution is not very user-friendly and I would not recommend it for robotic platforms. It has limited functionality and the logging takes over 1,000 GB. As a result, each year we need to increase the size of the database and create a workaround by archiving logs. It impacts performance and is a significant pain point for us. The logging is not user-friendly from an architect's perspective. The reporting is a mess in INTELLIBOT, even the developers are struggling to identify the issues and there are also problems when there are two cases hitting the queue.

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
I have worked with Microsoft Power Platform and UiPath. Kofax RPA offers a comprehensive solution with built-in capabilities for executing tasks like running Excel files and web automation without additional servers. They provide their browsers and extensions. For functions such as OCR, image processing, and data extraction, Kofax has built-in features powered by their engine, eliminating the need for subscriptions to external technologies like Microsoft Cognitive Services or Google Search. One of Kofax RPA's strongest features is its on-premise solution, which is particularly beneficial for organizations operating in regions with data regulations, such as the UAE.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I have found the most valuable feature to be the straightforward visual editor, it has close to no code required. It allowed us to deploy the email monitoring in this couple of weeks."
"It is a stable product. We have been using it for 15 months now, and there have been no issues."
"The return on investment is pretty good because the license cost is cheaper than other RPA tools in the market."
"The replay of the automation is an awesome feature."
"This solution is easy to use and requires little coding knowledge."
"For machine learning, there is an in-built document and text classification feature in INTELLIBOT. That is unlike other RPA tools where one needs to procure a separate license. Besides this, the application is easy to use. One valuable feature is the drag-and-drop feature for AI and email intelligence. It is easier than using UiPath's IQ bot."
"There's a helpful community available through the portal."
"The solution is scalable."
"This is a stable platform and we did not encounter any big problems."
"The flexibility to use already-developed components is really good. You can use it for Excel-related operations and other things."
"Provides valuable tools working in integration with RPA tools."
"The tool's most valuable feature is web browser automation, which makes it easy to interact with any website. We can assemble a robot in a few hours with web automation, depending on its complexity."
"It is stable and scalable."
"The OCR was quite stable and flexible."
"Kofax handles UIs via the browser well. If it's not possible, they have other features like modeling screen scrapes, etc."

Cons

"I would like to see the cognitive marketing platform improved."
"The solution is heavily dependant on scripts, such as JavaScript or any other external script that needs to be a part of the system. If they want to grow, the scripting dependency should go away. They should have built-in libraries to pull in work from."
"A couple of times, we noticed that some bugs caused the bot to go in the wrong flow."
"Currently, there are not many documents available on Google that explain each activity and how to use it or how to use the parameters and pass values."
"The trigger actions need to be more robust."
"The first pain point of INTELLIBOT was with the development. Whenever the company developed any command, they published it directly onto their SQL site, and our current automation got auto-updated. The second pain point was with the action set. It could be stronger. Moreover, if I am doing UiPath automation, I have to do it with the Internal Report for now."
"Has limited functionality and uses extensive resources."
"We are on version 10.6, and the current version seems to be 11. Kofax is cycling the capabilities of the product very quickly. One of the difficulties has been to actually keep up with the capabilities as they've evolved. On the one hand, it is good that the product is getting better, but on the other hand, it is difficult to implement the best way with a product that is evolving constantly."
"This product has room for improvement in support of aviation. The interface could be improved in the next release."
"Kofax RPA's UI could be more user-friendly."
"The process discovery could be a bit better."
"The interface could be better from a usability standpoint."
"The product should improve desktop automation, which is hard to configure. It needs to have custom connectors. It is the only advantage that Microsoft Power Platform has over Kofax RPA. It has more than 800 custom connectors."
"Kofax RPA could improve web-based automation and there should be a choice of what browser we can use, such as Google Chrome, instead of an inbuilt browser from Kofax RPA. Additionally, Kofax RPA is missing an orchestrator that other solutions have, such as UiPath."
"The solution could use some AI integrated features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution requires a license and we purchased one annually. We were satisfied with the price."
"INTELLIBOT with the DPA costs approximately $1,500 USD."
"At the time, one license was $5,000 USD. If we needed to negotiate for more licenses, we could negotiate a bit on the price."
"It is quite cheap. In the year 2019, it was $1000 for a year."
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
"Kofax RPA is moderately priced but expensive in comparison to UiPath and Power Automate."
"The solution’s license is not expensive."
"I give the price of the solution a six out of ten."
"Kofax RPA's licensing costs are yearly and expensive."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
"Its pricing is reasonable given the product capabilities. Kofax has a wide range of products, and it can sometimes be confusing to understand which capabilities come with which product set. One of the key facets that we've been looking into recently is cognitive document recognition that was a core pile of some of their other technologies such as Kofax transformation modules (KTM)."
