Spiceworks and Lansweeper compete in the IT helpdesk and inventory management category. Lansweeper seems to have the upper hand due to its advanced asset management and scalability features.
Features: Spiceworks provides a free tool for IT helpdesk and inventory management, including ticketing and reporting, with a supportive online community. Lansweeper offers extensive asset management and detailed reporting, compatible with multiple platforms and scalable to manage up to 1,000,000 devices.
Room for Improvement: Spiceworks can improve scalability and performance, as well as enhance its reporting and network mapping. Users desire more robust reporting capabilities and improved network discovery accuracy. Lansweeper could advance its technical support and consider adding more comprehensive security features, along with cloud solution enhancements.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: Spiceworks offers both cloud and on-premises deployment, relying on an active community for customer service, although users wish for formal support options. Lansweeper primarily focuses on on-premises deployment and is praised for its responsive customer service and effective technical support.
Pricing and ROI: Spiceworks is completely free, offering high ROI for small to medium businesses with its lack of licensing costs and community-driven support. Lansweeper involves higher costs but is valued for its scalability and advanced features, making it suitable for larger organizations. Pricing is competitive and based on the number of devices managed.
Managing IT has never been a bigger challenge. Hardware, software, and users can be anywhere at any time, making IT environments extremely dynamic and often complex. A seemingly simple question has become terribly difficult to answer: ‘Who is using what?’ This question inspired Lansweeper and still drives us today. We believe that answering it is crucial to tackle and simplify many of the challenges IT professionals face every day.
