Good for many things: generating leads and scoring leads
It's one of the best tools for scoring leads. Marketo's lead generation and scoring are better than most other tools. Marketo changed the way our team collaborates on marketing campaigns., especially in our sales team. We assign numbers to contacts based on their behavior, but those are just numbers. It was hard to tell if a high number meant strong interest or just general activity. So, we created another matrix called LeadGrid metrics to categorize leads from A1 to A5, B1 to B5, and so on. Seeing a prospect as an 'A5' tells our sales team that it's a hot lead, while a 'C5' indicates lower interest.

The product is slow, and the flow of information is difficult to interpret, though it is highly scalable and is suitable for global markets
The solution is slow. The algorithmic structure for queries to get the data from one place to another is really badly written. It’s probably on every legacy system. It's really slow, and it lags. Every click takes five seconds to work. It’s one major issue. The user interface and the flow of information are convoluted and difficult to interpret. It's not something we can figure out by ourselves. A lot of documentation, training, and workarounds have to be done for myself and my team members to understand how to use the system. CRMs are not that complicated anymore, but SAP is.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main feature of Marketo is sending out emails, so that would be the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable features are the Marketo emails, both sending and tracking."
"The product has been stable."
"I like that the solution is flexible."
"I like that Marketo is user-friendly and has an easy view. It's like a one-stop solution for everyone. It is very good, and you can categorize leads in different ways. You can also create your custom objects and enjoy good connectivity."
"The valuable features are list uploads, email campaigns, generating reports, source tracking, and lead attribution."
"The smart campaign looks quite interesting and useful."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is Smart Campaigns."
"The features that are used most are the lead model and the opportunity model. We can create many different pipelines with many phases. These features improved our process in the States very well."
"The solution is easy to use."
"We are using the HANA Z database for CRM, which enhances the products we are currently using by making the system more efficient. Everything is connected to CRM, so we can use the data for analytics, sales forecasting, and data modeling."
"The most valuable feature for me is the flexibility to consolidate the products."
"The stability is good."
"The most important factor for recommending SAP CRM is its integration with the core SAP platform. Globally, most enterprises are using SAP as an ERP platform to manage their key business functions. SAP CRM has out-of-the-box integration with the core SAP platform. You can integrate your pre-sales and post-sales into the single platform on the SAP CRM very easily, and you can extend that CRM to your customers who can actually see what is happening to their orders—such as whether it is dispatched or not dispatched or at what stage it is—simply by logging onto the CRM platform."
"Compared to other systems, SAP CRM has been reliable, stable, and cost-effective for us."
"What I found most valuable in SAP CRM is its multitenancy, and you can use it from your website, SMS, and even social media, and it's all integrated, so my company is trying to leverage on all of those."

Cons

"Segmentation in Marketo is limited to a maximum of 20 segments. Depending on the company's specific needs, these segments can be based on various attributes such as company, industry, or other values. Sometimes, there's a lag when sending data from Marketo to any CRM. It can take around five to fifteen minutes for the report to sync."
"Revenue management, attribution, and ABM can all be improved."
"One limitation is the user limit. For bigger organizations with large audience sizes exceeding, let's say, 500k, the solution may not be as efficient as larger enterprise platforms like Salesforce or Oracle Eloqua. However, Marketo is one of the best platforms for mid-scale and small-scale organisations."
"I have encountered issues when I had to use filters repeatedly. It would have been helpful if I could duplicate them directly, instead of dragging them. Also, having an option to save filters for future use would have saved a lot of time, especially when dealing with multiple filters."
"For the moment, we migrated some of our processes to Marketo and implemented them there. We had some difficulties related to this."
"Based on my clients ' comments, there is room for improvement in Marketo. For instance, Oracle's Eloqua had much larger databases than Marketo a few years ago, handling millions of records. Marketo has been catching up but doesn't hold the most extensive possible databases. This is less of an issue for B2B, but for B2C customers, who have millions of records, It also lacks features of HubSpot, which should be incorporated. Marketo could benefit from supporting more extensive databases and incorporating some of HubSpot's features. HubSpot is cheaper, and while Marketo is not the most expensive, it's not the least. They would be a better competitor to HubSpot if their pricing were lower. These products are typically priced per user per month."
"I had an issue while integrating JavaScript with forms. When you embed JavaScript, you can either embed it in a landing page or some other self-contained management system like WordPress. Currently, it provides you access to CSS, where you can customize your form design, but there is no option for JavaScript modification for a particular form. This area needs to be improved where you can integrate JavaScript, and it has the JavaScript functions for that particular form. There are a lot of other areas of improvement. In the design area, they can give us more testing options instead of relying on email testing alone. It would be great if they can provide responsive testing where email clients can be tested within Marketo. It would be also helpful if they can implement some in-built options for users or forms for blocking a generic email ID such as Yahoo or Gmail. Similarly, it would be helpful to have JavaScript features and forms as well as the option to add Google analytics and a header and footer for the landing pages."
"Marketo should give more power to the users for data manipulation."
"The product's pricing could be better."
"SAP CRM could improve by being easier to use and customer-friendly."
"The solution is slow."
"The interface could be improved."
"When features do get added, we would like the product to notify us in a timely way."
"The B2C features of SAP are strong, but they are not very known to the public and companies. They must make it more known for B2C applications or B2C use cases."
"The solution needs more flexible customization, tender request, and they need to think about some of the localization aspects."
"They could improve the product's analytics and reporting capabilities. Additionally, they could enhance its web interface speed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The fee for Marketo includes the number of users and the database size. If we ask for a unique feature, it will cost extra."
"I'm not sure about the cost because I don't get into this aspect. Clients normally take care of that. I only know that it is costly, and I don't think there are any additional costs to the licensing."
"The licensing cost usually depends on the users."
"Marketo's pricing depends on the number of contacts and the level of features you need. Compared to other platforms like Oracle Eloqua and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo is generally more affordable. Like other platforms, it offers different packages based on your needs."
"The solution is expensive compared to others."
"The initial pricing was excellent, but the pricing for renewals is not as good."
"Marketo is too expensive for a small-sized company but more affordable for a larger-sized company."
"Marketo is used a lot because it's cheaper and preferred by many firms."
"SAP CRM offers a free trial for anyone wanting to test the product before purchasing it."
"The solution is expensive."
"There is a license required to use SAP CRM."
"SAP CRM costs approximately a couple of thousand a month."
"SAP CRM is not suitable for smaller businesses because it is expensive. The larger businesses would be able to handle the cost."
"Every user needs to have a license."
"As for the product licensing, we pay an annual fee. It's important to consider setup costs and licensing based on your organization's budget and needs."
"The product is costly."
