Automates Azure resource monitoring and inventory management but slow with real-time patch status
There is room for improvement in the performance of the product. The main problem is with patch management. The actual problem we're facing is with the patch management feature. It's not real-time, which creates inconsistencies. The machine might say there are no updates available, while the OpsRamp agent reports that everything's patched. It's a mismatch. We recently started a new marketplace for clients where we manage patch management. We try to share knowledge with OpsRamp, but they don't have a rapid process for product enhancements. Our main pain point is the lack of engagement from the product team. If someone from OpsRamp could discuss our concerns, work on future enhancements, or even give us an estimated timeline (ETA), it would be a huge improvement.

Helps improve our incident response time, and our mean time to resolve, but visibility is limited
In my previous project, I successfully led the end-to-end deployment of a Splunk migration. The process went smoothly thanks in part to Splunk's professional services team. They conducted a thorough assessment, identified all our potential pain points, and developed a tailored solution and migration plan. This comprehensive approach ensured a seamless transition. Our core deployment team consisted of 5 internal members and two specialists from Splunk. Additionally, the project included a project manager and a product owner. We also benefited from the expertise of two professional service consultants and two representatives from the customer's side. An on-site admin architect further provided valuable technical support. Throughout the deployment process, we leveraged support from various resources whenever necessary. This included assistance with configuration changes, deployments, and other related tasks. We also collaborated effectively with our teammates to ensure a smooth and successful implementation.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of OpsRamp include a single pane of glass, event correlation, personalized dashboards, and a single platform solution."
"The most valuable feature of this solution in my experience, is that the available reporting is quite accurate."
"The feature we found most valuable in OpsRamp is alert generation because whenever there is any kind of spike on any virtual machine, the solution generates alerts based on the thresholds we implemented. We have integrated our ideas and tools with OpsRamp, so alerts are generated, then we notify the customers. That's the main feature we like about OpsRamp because we don't have to monitor each resource. Instead, OpsRamp does the monitoring for us, and it generates the alerts based on the thresholds."
"It greatly assists small and medium-sized businesses in using the ITSM, alerting, and monitoring features."
"The feature that we have found most useful are the dashboards, which can be built in minutes using this solution, allowing multiple products, thresholds, or any given required metric to be seen in a single area."
"Most features work fine."
"It is a pretty stable solution."
"The most valuable feature of OpsRamp is the creation of the dashboards of the infrastructure for the CPU memory and SQL servers. Additionally, URL monitoring through Selenium scripting and the availability dashboard is useful."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the aggregation of the metrics and the relative ease of getting them away from search."
"The most valuable feature is event correlation, which ensures that only one ticket is generated per issue, eliminating duplicates and reducing noise from multiple alerts."
"The solution is easy to scale."
"Alerts and episodes are valuable to me."
"The most valuable aspect lies in its utilization of predictive analytics to anticipate and prevent incidents within a window of twenty to thirty minutes."
"I like ITSI's glass tables. They're easy to navigate by clicking through them. The interface isn't that much different from other products I've used. It provides all the information we need in one place."
"The most valuable features of Splunk ITSI are event analytics and service insight."
"We save substantial time on monitoring tasks because we don't have to search for what we need. Everything is packed, so you can drill down to the end values by just doing the kit. We don't spend a lot of time on this. Splunk ITSI is easy to use and not time-consuming."

Cons

"We would like this solution to be developed into a full CMP tool, so that we are able to use a single product for all of our cloud management needs."
"OpsRamp cannot be scaled for big and large company deployments."
"An area of improvement would be application monitoring."
"We have 55 AVDs, and patches might roll out to 32-35 initially, with the rest taking a month or so. OpsRamp can't detect them all directly. Since clients want patches applied as soon as possible, we manually patch those remaining devices."
"Automation is currently quite complex and needs to be improved."
"The user interface of this product requires some changes as it is not inclusively user-friendly. For example, the performance indicators are color-based , which means that they are confusing for anyone who is color blind."
"OpsRamp had shortcomings associated with its network capabilities."
"The function to search any particular device within this solution needs to be improved. Currently, the solution develops a lag when a search, or a comparison, is being carried out."
"Splunk ITSI lacks out-of-the-box solutions for enterprise users."
"It was an intimidating tool for us to jump into at the beginning."
"Splunk ITSI consumes a lot of CPU resources."
"The end-to-end visibility in Splunk ITSI is limited and has room for improvement."
"Currently, Glass tables in ITSI only display metrics related to KPIs."
"The cost of the license could be lower."
"The solution should integrate more features in NEAP."
"We had issues with support that took a long time to resolve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have any idea about the licensing cost for OpsRamp, but I just know that its pricing is based on the resource count for each tenant."
"You pay it for a year and you'll have full access to the entire platform, not only for monitoring and alerting, you will have access to the entire platform, and whatever technology they develop will be made available to you."
"OpsRamp is a cost-effective solution."
"There is an annual licensing fee to use OpsRamp."
"It would have been good if the product cost was much lower."
"I wouldn't say there's been an issue with the solution's pricing because we went through the AWS marketplace and negotiated directly with Splunk."
"It depends on how big an organization is. If we have a lot of resources, the licensing needs to be upgraded. If we have a small environment, the licensing cost is definitely going to be less."
"Pricing was pretty good, and it is possible to just add on the features we want."
"The cost of the modules is a bit high for non-global companies, making it difficult for them to afford Splunk ITSI."
"Splunk is pretty expensive, but it gives you a decent insight into the data. It is easy to learn, and ITSI has a great interface. You can run those queries and pass the data. I"
"I know that it is expensive, but I do not think there is another solution that can do similar things for that price."
"I would prefer that the price be reduced, as it would be easier to implement it and to sell it."
