| Director at a tech services company with 1-10 employees | 4.5 | I use Sophos Email Security and Endpoint XDR, finding it very stable and scalable with excellent uptime. Its integrated XDR provides robust security, and setup was easy. While reporting data display needs improvement, I rate it an eight. |
| Founder at Computech infosysetm | 5.0 | I've used Sophos Mobile and Email since 2017 for their strong security, user-friendly interface, and reliable support, though frequent price hikes make renewals difficult compared to competitors like Palo Alto offering similar features at lower costs. |
| Technical Head at a tech services company with 51-200 employees | 5.0 | Sophos Email offers robust security, blocking spam/phishing, and is reliable. My key challenge is the 24-hour storage limit. With easy setup and excellent support, I rate it 10/10 for mid-sized companies. |
| Network and Infrastructure Manager at Sonysugar | 4.5 | I use Sophos Email for endpoint and email protection, appreciating its effective firewall and spam reduction features. However, the email installation process should be more user-friendly to eliminate the need for partner assistance. |
| IT Manager at Celebrity Fashions Ltd | 4.5 | I have found Sophos Email to be cost-efficient, though it has some performance issues that need improvement. After experiencing spam issues with Fortinet Fortimail during on-premises use, switching to the cloud with Sophos Email has been beneficial. |
| Operations Technical Lead at IT Supporters | 4.5 | I have used Sophos Email for four years to enhance email security. It's easy to manage, integrates with Office 365 and Google Workspace, and offers strong anti-spam features, but lacks support for split delivery, limiting protection configuration for selected mailboxes. |
| Senior manager IT infrastructure at Machine Learning 1 Limited · | 3.5 | We use Sophos Email as an email gateway to manage spamming and malware control effectively. The identity proxy feature is reliable, though sandboxing and spam control need improvement. Alternatives considered included Barracuda and Trend Micro. |
| Team Lead, Infrastructure, Security & Service Management at C&I Leasing Plc, | 3.5 | I find Sophos Email as effective and efficient as Microsoft ATP, with valuable spam protection. While it needs improvements in email scanning, it has positively impacted efficiency and cost savings. We've transitioned from previous solutions for better security. |
| Technical Director at SPATIAL DATA ENGINEERING Ltd | 4.5 | We use Sophos Email with Microsoft Exchange Online for seamless email scanning. Its superior filtering capabilities are intuitive and ideal for multi-user environments. Though setup was challenging, it has significantly reduced unsolicited emails and enhanced security, especially for government contracts. |
| Director Technical Services at TechnoBIZ | 3.5 | I find that Sophos Email effectively bolsters email security with signature-based detection, though it's not as effective as FortiMail and Trend Micro. Users occasionally experience false positives, and improvement in rule customization would enhance control over security settings. |

I work on the endpoints. I work on endpoint, email, and firewall. Email, I use it on my personal domain, so I know what it does.
Sophos Email security is the primary product I use. It scans all your inbound and outbound email for malware. It also has a capability for looking for phishing and spear phishing content and blocking it. Email has an extended capability that includes what's called a secure web gateway. All user traffic gets managed through that, making it a combination product. The version of the product you run determines which features are available.
Reporting is competent. There is scope for more improvements, which they will do as they do every year regularly. They keep updating the product. Reporting gives you the relevant details of what is happening, so it's mature on that front.
The main benefit is security for your email. The beauty of the Sophos system is that the XDR functionality runs across the system. Sophos, Trend Micro, and Microsoft are the only three that have a very strong system with this concept. XDR stands for extended detection and response, and it's a technology where the system automatically exchanges security signals between the endpoint, the email, and other similar products of the same brand. If you have Sophos Endpoint and Sophos Email, you have very good connectivity from the endpoint to the cloud at the email level and to some extent onto the browsing traffic. You have a very rounded security aspect.
Some existing functionality in the product needs better articulation in how data is displayed. In one place there is data, but the way the data should be shown is not being shown right now. I have provided feedback during tech support sessions.
Two years.
It's pretty solid on that side. It does a very good job. I've had more than a 99.5% uptime rate. I don't experience much downtime, but it's done a fantastic job over the past two years. I would give stability a rating of ten.
I would give it a nine. I have not used it in big sizes. The sizes where I'm using it are small, a couple of hundred users, and it does its job very well. But it can go up to around fifty thousand users or something that can be accommodated in one tenant. I'm not sure of the exact sizing, but that's a general rule that has always been there.
They are very competent. They even have machine learning technology plugged into that, which gives you some search capabilities. They have what's known as MDR, which stands for Managed Detection and Response. It's a paid service, and it's actually very expensive. It's a service wherein they have dedicated engineers for your use. This will work best for enterprise customers where they have several thousand users. They have very good capability. I would give them a nine.
I don't work with Trellix now. I work with Sophos.
It's pretty straightforward. When you buy the endpoint product, you get a bunch of default policies which frankly speaking, you just have to leave running and install the client on the laptop. I use Office 365, and the integration process took me about ten minutes to do.
The main competitors are Trellix and Trend Micro. At the endpoint security level, all three are pretty equal, with some pluses and minuses here and there. Trellix has a DLP module as an add-on component, and that's a very fantastic product for endpoint DLP. Sophos doesn't have a strong one. Trend Micro doesn't have a strong endpoint DLP either. That's one critical difference between the two. Trend Micro has email security as one of the modules as part of the pack when you buy it, depending on the subscription you have. Sometimes you get it, but most of the time it's an add-on like Sophos. Trellix doesn't have that capability right now as far as I know.
I've used the firewall for the longest, over fifteen plus years. I've been using the endpoint for three to four years now. Sophos Endpoint is what they call Sophos XDR now. I don't use the encryption part of it, but the basic functionality does a very good job. I would rate this review an eight.

The main use case for using Sophos Mobile is that where it is supplied, we did not receive any ransomware call. Sophos Mobile has a very good interface and the operation is also nice, which is why my customer is happy with this product, and it is very helpful to sell to others. People are using Sophos Mobile for security reasons, and if you compare it with other software like Quick Heal, it is very helpful compared to them.
The main use case for Sophos Email is the same, as the features are very good, and the interface is looking nice. Due to security reasons, they are using Sophos Email, and one parameter is common because whoever installs it does not have any problem and does not get any ransomware attack.
The reason why people use Sophos Mobile is that the interface is very good and the software is very good. Sophos Central Portal is very good, and due to user-friendly features, we are using it, and Sophos has a unified system that is very helpful to us.
We can manage the server and the Firewall from a remote area, which makes Sophos Email a very good product. Sophos already has Sandbox, and if any issues are identified, Sophos blocks that particular mail and site instantly, which is why customers are very happy and safe from other attacks. The integration system for Sophos Email is very nice, and due to the interface, customers are very happy.
Price is obviously a challenging part, and I think it is the biggest problem we have suffered from over the last two or three years due to a 7 to 8% hike per year, twice a year, which is why we have some renewals on Sophos Email, Sophos XDR, EDR, and the firewall, but due to price hike, they are unable to renew it. The price is going to be very high.
It would be better if Sophos can provide a more flexible pricing model for different types of businesses. Price could be lower. The main competitor for Sophos in the market is Palo Alto, which has reduced their price by more than 35 to 40%, making it a very challenging part to sell this product. Palo Alto provides the same functionality for email security, which adds to the challenge because the price is going very high.
We are using Sophos Mobile since 2017.
I rate the stability of Sophos Email a 10.
I also rate scalability a 10.
The technical support is very good, and the after-sales service is very good. After-sales support for Sophos is very good.
Positive
The setup process for Sophos Email is very good; if we face any problem during installation, we instantly call our local support team from where we are purchasing and your central support also assists, so it is very good.
For the setup process of Sophos Email, most of my clients try to do it in-house, but we also train them because we cannot help all the time; however, we are ready to assist them, but we have lots of customers.
As per my client view and database, I got all the features as per our requirement, so from the user point it is very helpful, but if any other features are required, I think that segment I did not work; however, as per my current scenario, my customers are very happy.
If we add an extension, customers do not use any other extension we set there; for instance, I blocked DOCX format or PDF files, and they can only send drawings in DWG format, so I can manage it. We are using Sophos Mobile, Sophos Email, and Sophos X-Ops. We have been using all the products, including Sophos Email, since 2017.
We are using both Sophos Mobile and Sophos Email. We are using Sophos Email on-premises and cloud. We are using both on cloud and on-premises. I attended a Sophos event, and this product is very nice. I rate this review a 10.

We are a solutions provider and internally use Sophos Email, Sophos Intercept X Advanced, and firewall. We also provide firewall and MDR services for our clients.
The main use case for Sophos Email is its robust security features. We are effectively blocking spam and phishing attempts, and we have strong control over these aspects.
The spam control functionality and email encryption capabilities are particularly valuable features of Sophos Email.
While Sophos Email is generally sufficient, one challenge we face is the 24-hour email storage limitation. This presents an issue when internal systems are down for more than 24 hours.
The solution could be more flexible for clients.
I have been working with Sophos Email for more than two years now.
The setup process for Sophos Email is straightforward. While we encountered some challenges while configuring for Gmail, we were able to set it up easily with our internal email server.
For stability, I would rate Sophos Email a perfect 10 out of 10 as the product is very reliable.
Expandability has not been a challenge we have faced so far, indicating good scalability.
The technical support from Sophos Email deserves a rating of 10 out of 10 as we have not experienced any challenges with their support.
Positive
Regarding Sophos Email pricing, I would rate it between six or seven out of ten.
Competitors for Sophos Email include Barracuda and FortiMail.
Regarding the comparison between FortiMail and Sophos Email, I have not used FortiMail recently, making it difficult to provide a comparison.
We continue to use Sophos products and remain with the company. For firewall protection, we use XGS systems.
We have provided Sophos Email Gateway for one of our clients. We have integrated Sophos Email with our internal email server, using it for both outbound and inbound traffic.
Integration with Office 365 protection for Sophos Email Security works smoothly without any challenges. The solution is totally cloud-based.
I recommend Sophos Email for mid-sized companies as it is a good option, though it may not be ideal for large-scale or small businesses. I have not tried incorporating AI technology with Sophos Email yet.
I am Bhanu Prakash, Technical Head for Systek Services, and can be reached at b.hanu@teamsistek.com. I am a partner with Sophos.
Overall rating for Sophos Email: 10/10.
I use Sophos Email to protect our endpoint equipment and services. I also utilize email protection to prevent blacklisting and ensure secure email communication.
The spam is reduced, and there is comfort in using Sophos Email as the likelihood of our emails being blacklisted is less. I can send out emails to different recipients without being blacklisted.
Endpoint and server protection are very effective. The firewall itself is also valuable. Additionally, the spam reduction feature in Sophos Email provides comfort when using it, as it minimizes blacklisting and secure emails can be sent to various recipients without issue.
Email installation could be more user-friendly so that it can be done without involving the partner. If made more user-friendly, even a user could do it on their own.
I did not experience a lot of issues with stability. The product is good.
Technical support is good. When I reported a problem with our firewall, they acted promptly and delivered another piece of equipment.
Positive
I purchased through a vendor, so the vendor handled the installation. It's hard to say exactly how long it took.
The vendor performed the installation while I manage it.
Sophos Email pricing is a bit high, especially since I purchase through a partner, and they sell it at a higher price since they also seek to make a profit.
I would recommend Sophos Email to both end-users and other entities that want to protect their emails. I rate it nine out of ten.
The tool has some performance issues and bugs, making it an area where improvements are required.
I have been using Sophos Email for two to three years. I am a customer of the tool.
The solution's support team consists of a partner who is always available and offers the first level of support. After the partner provides the first level of support, the Sophos support team takes remote access and closes the issue. I rate the technical support a nine out of ten.
Positive
I have experience with Fortinet Fortimail. With Fortinet, I had to deal with so many spam emails. When we were on an on-premises model, we used Fortinet Fortimail, but after switching to the cloud, it is better to use Sophos Email.
The tool helps save costs.
The tool's price is reasonable. On a yearly basis, there is a 20 percent increase in prices, but it is not an issue.
I don't have any issue with the product, as it works properly.
I only face some spam emails, but the tool automatically blocks them.
Sometimes, one or two spam emails will come, and at such a time, they need to be blocked or blocklisted. Around 95 percent of the time, the tool works. Only five percent of the time, you may have to deal with one or two spam emails.
The anti-spam functionality of Sophos Email is good. The tool does gateway-level filtering, and after that, you can use Office 365. We use Sophos only for gateway purposes, and for other mailing purposes, we use Office 365.
The anti-spam functionality has improved our email management, as there are mostly no spam emails, and everything works well.
The tool does not utilize any AI features.
I recommend the tool to others. I use it in my company which deal in the area of exports.
I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

I have been working with Sophos Email for four years. It is used to enhance security measures in my organization's email communications.
Sophos Email is integrated with Office 365 and Google Workspace. It offers anti-spam functionality, which is easy to manage and comes with documentation on how to integrate it with Office 365 and Google Workspace. It provides a defense layer for email protection, scanning every incoming and outbound email for malware and spam. It can also function temporarily as an email solution if my vendor from Office 365 or Google Workspace is out of service.
Sophos Email does not work with split delivery. If I have a domain with 100 mailboxes and want to protect only 50, it is not recommended by Sophos or not possible to configure.
I have used Sophos Email for four years.
I have compared Sophos Email with competitors like Barracuda, Kaspersky, and Proofpoint, finding Sophos Email very powerful and simple to manage.
I rate Sophos Email nine point five. I would recommend Sophos Email to others for its powerful and simple management, though they should also consider competitors like Barracuda, Kaspersky, and Proofpoint, which offer different advantages.

We are using Sophos Email as an email gateway. We scan all our incoming traffic through the solution, which provides us with spamming and malware control. The solution automatically restricts any email that contains malware or viruses.
The solution's identity proxy feature is very good and reliable.
The solution's sandboxing and spam control features could be improved. I have faced a few issues with false positives because sometimes we get emails that are not legitimate.
I have been using Sophos Email for three years.
Scalability has some limitations in Sophos Email because scaling the solution requires a new license, which is an additional cost. Around 500 users work with Sophos Email in our organization.
You can contact the technical support team through different ways, like mobile or Skype. I contacted them through Skype, and they responded immediately. The resolution to some problems took some time.
Neutral
Products from vendors like Barracuda, McAfee, and Trend Micro are very well-matured and provide good solutions, such as email gateways and firewalls.
The solution’s initial setup is very straightforward.
We use exchange licenses, for which we get immediate support from Sophos.
Before choosing Sophos Email, we evaluated Trend Micro and Barracuda.
Sophos gives you a feature set to manage your on-premises firewall on the cloud. I just integrated my on-premises firewall into the cloud, and I can manage the tool through the cloud as well if needed.
I recommend using Sophos Email as a proxy. For email gateways, I advise choosing mature products with rich feature sets, like Trend Micro or CrowdStrike. The solution's integration with other tools is very simple. I easily integrated Sophos Email with my Active Directory.
My organization needs a WAF with a limited feature set, which we use through Sophos. Purchasing additional WAF will be costly, but I get sandboxing and WAF features free of cost with Sophos, which is included in the license.
Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

In my current situation, I have been using Microsoft ATP and Microsoft APP for the protection on the endpoints. This system is effective with Microsoft Defender being employed for additional security. Comparing the performance with the Sophos Email, I find it equally effective and efficient. As for the version, I use the latest available from the official website or the Sophos Central platform. It's connected to our admin system for seamless integration.
The overall experience has been improved since I started using the Sophos email. Before shifting to Sophos, I was using Microsoft and faced various challenges with certain functions of the system. Regarding the issues, I used to frequently contact Microsoft Support, which was very difficult. However, the shift to Sophos Email has been easy, it is more user-friendly and efficient to use. The issues with Microsoft Defender are no more in Sophos and it is a much more secure option to protect email systems.
There are many features that are important, but among those, the spam protection feature is very valuable. It help us to safeguard the email against phishing and ensures that there is maximum security enabled for our communication processes. It has a huge role in protecting our emails from potential threats.
Sophos Email has few improvements to implement, including the handling of incoming emails in the systems. It needs to add additional feature that helps in enhancing the scanning processes of these emails. While adding these features, it should work towards improving the current features also.
I've been using Sophos Email for about four years now as a customer.
The stability of Sophos Email has been quite impressive. It serves as a fundamental tool for routine tasks, especially in terms of data management. The company relies on it for various aspects, indicating its stability and integral role in daily operations.
I would rate it 8 out of 10.
Sophos Email has proven to be effective in countering phishing and scam attempts, making it a reliable software for email security. Overall, it has been a positive experience, and I would rate it 8 out of 10.
There has been issues when I have interacted with the support in the past, especially regarding technical issues. I have found them responsive for basic queries, but when I have raised issues for complex issues, there is a delay in the response from the support team. During the initial setup, when I faced challenges, the support team took a lot of time to address the issue and escalate it to the required personnel. In another issue raised, I was trying to confirm the status of a domain name. The support team was not able to help me out and provide with the necessary information. I suggest that there should be improvement in the support team towards handling such complex issues and technical concerns.
Negative
It seems there were challenges with the previous security solution, particularly in handling phishing and spam emails, and the settings didn't provide the desired capabilities. After exploring Microsoft Defender for Office 365, it wasn't deemed suitable, prompting a switch to Sophos Email, which has proven to be more effective. The decision was driven by the need for improved security measures and a solution that aligns with specific requirements.
It was difficult for me. The deployment process for Sophos Email was straightforward. After agreeing on payment, a consultant facilitated the configuration and routing of the product. In my case, using Mapusoft, the product was integrated, reported, and directed to Sophos before reaching Microsoft. The deployment team involved three to four people, but this depends on the user database.
Implementing Sophos Email has positively impacted our metrics. We've seen improvements in efficiency, reduced employee needs, and cost savings, particularly in the aspects of security and data protection.
I would rate the pricing of Sophos Email as a six. It is considered affordable as a standalone product, and there are no additional costs besides licensing. The pricing is fixed.
I wouldn't recommend Sophos Email protection based on my experience. My advice is to explore other options like Microsoft Defender and Forcepoint to see how they perform and compare them. For someone considering implementing this solution, I suggest looking into alternatives as I find them to be better in certain aspects.
I would rate Sophos Email as a seven.

We use it with Microsoft Exchange Online for all our email scanning. Microsoft Exchange Online pushes the emails to Sophos, which scans and classifies them before sending them to us. Once it's set up, it's a seamless and efficient solution.
Sophos Email has significantly improved security in our organization, which is critical as a defense subcontractor. It provides much better protection than just using Microsoft's products alone.
The filtering capabilities are precious and far superior to others I've used. It's intuitive in what it pushes to quarantine, and users can quickly review, free, or delete items without needing an administrator, making it ideal for a multi-user environment.
However, the setup was tricky, particularly with the DNS routing between Microsoft Exchange Online and Sophos cloud services. It took me about four attempts to get it working correctly.
Despite that, Sophos Email does everything we need, so we don't require any additional capabilities now.
I've been working with Sophos Email for about eighteen months.
I’d give it a nine for stability—it’s very stable, which is crucial for us and the main reason we chose it.
I rate the scalability of Microsoft Exchange Online a ten out of ten. It's a pure enterprise solution. We have about twenty users since we’re a micro-business, but if the company expands, we will increase usage.
Regarding technical support, it was a great experience, although I know others may havedifferent experiences. Before using Microsoft Exchange Online, we were using Microsoft’s product, but we needed something more robust and stable. We evaluated several options and chose Microsoft Exchange Online because it offered a strong industry presence.
Positive
The setup process for Sophos Email was quite challenging, and I would rate it a three or four out of ten. However, it wasn’t a nightmare. Once the DNS setup was correct, the deployment became straightforward. It’s deployed in the cloud, and the initial deployment took less than a week. After configuring DNS, it was mainly self-deployed and integrated with Microsoft Active Directory, making it easy to add users.
I handled the deployment with help from Sophos and completed
Their Accreditation Training helped me get up to speed quickly. In terms of manpower, only two people were involved in the deployment process. Now that it's set up, the system is robust and self-maintaining. Reporting is configured on the Sophos appliance and integrated with monitoring tools. If an issue arises, the system attempts to fix itself, and if it can’t, it notifies both us and Sophos automatically. Overall, it’s very low maintenance.
In terms of return on investment, while I can’t put a financial figure on it, the product has significantly reduced unsolicited emails and strengthened our security. It’s been critical, especially for our government contracts.
The pricing is affordable, so I’d rate it around a four out of ten on the pricing scale. We pay about fifty pounds a month, including hardware so that costs may differ without it.
I’d rate Sophos Email a nine for our use case, as I haven’t found a better
solution. My advice for new users is to work with an authorized Microsoft dealer to get direct support. Many resellers sell licenses, but having a primary dealer ensures better technical support, which is invaluable. It may be more expensive, but the benefits outweigh the costs.

Our clients utilize Sophos Email to bolster their organization's email security. Some of these clients integrate Sophos Email with their firewall, while others opt for the cloud email option.
Sophos effectively blocks phishing and spam to a significant degree.
The AI-powered threat detection in Sophos Email has significantly benefited organizations by providing them with a high level of protection against email-based threats.
The Sophos Email interface is highly user-friendly, featuring a simple design with just the right amount of features.
In terms of effectiveness in the outfall scenarios, I would rate Sophos Email at about seven out of ten.
The feature of Sophos Email that we find most effective for detecting suspicious emails is primarily based on their signatures. However, compared to other solutions like FortiMail and Trend Micro Cloud Email, we rate its effectiveness slightly lower. Overall, while the signature-based detection works well, some users have reported occasional false positives, especially when integrated with the firewall. Nonetheless, the majority of customers using Sophos Email are satisfied with its performance.
I believe that Sophos Email is not as effective as FortiMail and Trend Micro. To address this, improvements can be made in rule-based functionalities, offering more tools and options to customers. Enhancing rule creation and customization features would provide users with greater control over their email security settings. Specifically, adding more custom rules would be beneficial in this regard.
I have been working with it for the last five years.
The stability of Sophos Email is very high, rating it an eight out of ten.
Our customers, who are typically small to medium-sized businesses, rate the scalability of Sophos Email as seven out of ten.
I would rate the support at eight out of ten. Overall, it has been satisfactory, although there have been occasional delays in response times.
Positive
The initial setup of Sophos Email was extremely straightforward.
The deployment process takes less than an hour, and the system starts functioning immediately.
Regarding the price, I would rate it at five out of ten. It falls somewhere in the middle—it's not excessively expensive nor very cheap. For the firewall subscription, the cost is less than one thousand, specifically for the on-premises subscription. As for the cloud subscription, I don't recall the exact price, but it's also relatively affordable.
I recommend Sophos Email, especially for small and medium-sized companies, due to its excellent pricing, simplicity, and effectiveness. It's a solution that works perfectly well for our needs in this market segment. Overall, I would rate it seven out of ten.
