User-friendly and provides good response time from the end-to-end server
We are not using the alerts as we have different mechanisms called resilience testing or kiosk testing. The DevOps team uses the alerts. During production, they will get alerts when they see the CPU utilization going beyond the 60% or 70% benchmark they have set. AppDynamics and Dynatrace are the only two tools that provide accurate or stable end-to-end response time. These two tools can show you everything that's going on from the back end. If we are doing performance testing or any testing, these two tools can provide us with every detail about what's happening in the back end from the server side that we can't see. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Automates Azure resource monitoring and inventory management but slow with real-time patch status
There is room for improvement in the performance of the product. The main problem is with patch management. The actual problem we're facing is with the patch management feature. It's not real-time, which creates inconsistencies. The machine might say there are no updates available, while the OpsRamp agent reports that everything's patched. It's a mismatch. We recently started a new marketplace for clients where we manage patch management. We try to share knowledge with OpsRamp, but they don't have a rapid process for product enhancements. Our main pain point is the lack of engagement from the product team. If someone from OpsRamp could discuss our concerns, work on future enhancements, or even give us an estimated timeline (ETA), it would be a huge improvement.

Pros

"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I don't see any problems in the solution...The solution's technical support was good."
"The solution offers great visibility that allows you to track where errors originated."
"The correlation feature available with AppDynamics Server Monitoring is absent in other competitive solutions"
"The product provides a nice end-user experience."
"This solution gives us quite good insights that we might otherwise overlook, or it might take a really long time to debug those issues."
"Setting up the monitoring agents was straightforward."
"We can view the server activities, including issues in the process, with a single click."
"The product has the ability to drill down to the errors whenever we have issues."
"Predictive analysis is a valued feature."
"Most features work fine."
"We find the products seamless integration with Zendesk to be extremely valuable to our business."
"It is a pretty stable solution."
"The most valuable feature of this solution in my experience, is that the available reporting is quite accurate."
"The feature that we have found most useful are the dashboards, which can be built in minutes using this solution, allowing multiple products, thresholds, or any given required metric to be seen in a single area."
"The technical support is fantastic, and they are fast to respond."
"The most valuable feature of OpsRamp is the creation of the dashboards of the infrastructure for the CPU memory and SQL servers. Additionally, URL monitoring through Selenium scripting and the availability dashboard is useful."

Cons

"The one thing that I find it difficult in using AppDynamics is, for any new user, it's not easy for him or her to configure the transactions in AppDynamics because the UI is pretty complex. The configuration is pretty complex for a new, fresh user. They can make the UI simpler, that'll be very helpful for anyone to configure their website in AppDynamics."
"In the next release, I would like to see the configuration of the data and more support for new applications. It should support new languages."
"The solution has performance issues after we deploy the agent."
"I would like the ability to choose from some pre-defined dashboards and reports because as it is now, you have to define them separately for each implementation."
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring has room for improvement in terms of pricing. If the price could be cheaper, it would be great for both the customer and the integrator. What I'd like to see in the next release of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a better dashboard for the customer. The dashboard should be more interactive."
"The solution's pricing could be improved and made more competitive."
"If we consider the implementation of alternative solutions, such as Dynatrace, there is a notable difference in the approach to agent-based service monitoring. For instance, Dynatrace employs a single-agent solution, which can pose security concerns. When installing Dynatrace, granting the agent ld pro payload rights is a requirement. In contrast, our solution ensures a more secure approach by not requiring root and administration access. While we currently utilize an agent-based solution, there may be a shift in the next one or two years, possibly with the adoption of Open Telemetry. It's anticipated that many APM vendors, including Dynatrace, may alter their structure or strategy for implementation. However, as of now, the trend is towards an increasing number of implementations daily."
"The tool should provide information like the number of connections and processes utilized in real time."
"I would like to see two things. The first is a self-service portal for the cloud, any cloud deployments, and the second is maturity validation towards ITSM, internalizing OpsRamp TSM. As a result, instead of integrating with more mature tools similar to ServiceNow, people will use OpsRamp."
"OpsRamp could improve the critical alerts. We have been receiving some false alerts when monitoring. For example, the alert shows the site is down, but when we try to do manual access to the URL, it's accessible."
"The function to search any particular device within this solution needs to be improved. Currently, the solution develops a lag when a search, or a comparison, is being carried out."
"What's lacking in OpsRamp is process automation, and if there is, I wish there could be more of it, other than just spikes, or it would be better if the alerts can be generated based on different matrices. That option is absent in OpsRamp at the moment, and it would be valuable if that could be provided in the solution, especially if there's any kind of security issue in the VM."
"OpsRamp had shortcomings associated with its network capabilities."
"An area of improvement would be application monitoring."
"We have 55 AVDs, and patches might roll out to 32-35 initially, with the rest taking a month or so. OpsRamp can't detect them all directly. Since clients want patches applied as soon as possible, we manually patch those remaining devices."
"Automation is currently quite complex and needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AppDynamics Server Monitoring is an expensive solution."
"The solution has a high cost."
"The pricing for AppDynamics is expensive, but it is possible to negotiate special pricing through bids."
"The pricing for AppDynamics Server Monitoring in Africa and the Middle East is too expensive, so it's very hard to sell it to customers. If there could be different pricing or package for the region, that would be great. My company pays for the license of AppDynamics Server Monitoring on a per-agent, per-server basis. It's $700 to $1000 per server, and it's paid annually. My company is on a subscription model for the solution. On a scale of one to five, where one is expensive and five is cheap, my rating for the price of AppDynamics Server Monitoring is a two."
"The tool is expensive."
"My understanding is that the price of this solution is quite high, compared to other products."
"The licensing cost is fairly high"
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring is an expensive solution."
"I don't have any idea about the licensing cost for OpsRamp, but I just know that its pricing is based on the resource count for each tenant."
"There is an annual licensing fee to use OpsRamp."
"You pay it for a year and you'll have full access to the entire platform, not only for monitoring and alerting, you will have access to the entire platform, and whatever technology they develop will be made available to you."
"OpsRamp is a cost-effective solution."
