Straightforward to set up and manage and allows us to monitor all backups in one place
I would rate the easiness of the initial setup as an eight out of ten. Setting up Azure Backup was pretty straightforward, especially if you follow the steps in the right order. It might seem a bit complex at first, but with experience, subsequent setups become easier. Planning is key to optimizing its effectiveness. Deploying Azure Backup typically takes around half an hour to an hour to set up one VM, involving creating a recovery services vault, defining a backup policy, and configuring storage options. For a more comprehensive setup including proper recovery planning, it might take a few hours. The key steps involve creating a resource group, and a recovery services vault, selecting a storage type, and defining backup policies. I deployed the solution myself.

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation provides us more time to work on other tasks, avoiding repetitive tasks and saving hours that we can allocate elsewhere. This gives more free time for involvement in other activities instead of repetitive data pulling."
"Our client’s infrastructure is protected by the tool."
"First of all, you can schedule a backup for the client. You can schedule it as you like. You can also control the bandwidth, so the backup will not utilize. The internet will depend on the bandwidth."
"The most valuable feature of Azure Backup is its ease of use and good integration with other Azure services."
"The MARS agent makes it easy to use."
"It is easy to schedule backups."
"Azure Backup is easy to manage from a single dashboard."
"It is a stable solution...It is a highly scalable solution."
"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface."
"Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end."
"The solution is easy to access and handles things efficiently."
"The UI is pretty good. It's very simple. That is one thing that we like about this. It's very user-friendly."
"I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup."
"One massive advantage of this solution, as compared to more enterprise products, is that no firewall changes are needed on the client's premises. For the product to back up from the client's premise to the cloud, it just needs port 8 and port 443, which are anyway always open. This was one of the things that made us decide to go with the product. It is very difficult to justify a firewall change for a small client who doesn't even know what a firewall is and how to maintain a firewall, or doesn't have anybody maintaining their firewall. You then have to maintain the firewall. MSP360 Backup takes away firewall change requirements, VPNs, or channels that are needed for the backup."
"The most valuable feature of MSP360 Backup is its reliability."
"Technical support is very good."

Cons

"The user interface is a little bit confusing and it could be better."
"The reporting functionality of Azure Backup needs improvement."
"It would be beneficial to receive alert messages if something isn't configured correctly, for instance, if service principal names are missing, a message could prompt you to set them up."
"In the next release, I would like to see the ability to back up to different cloud providers."
"Azure Backup could improve the backup data copies because they are not immutable."
"The compression ratio of the backup data should be improved."
"The solution is still in its infancy; it's not a mature product yet."
"I would like to see more automation, integration, and security. The price could be better."
"The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable."
"Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default."
"There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station."
"The interface feels like it is targeted for end users who typically are looking for an all-in-one integrated push button solution. It would be better if the interface had a beginner mode and an expert mode."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"The initial setup is a little complex as it has to be done in the office and requires someone to come in and install the solution on your server, then configure the scheduling, backup pushing, and so on."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing.""
"The product could be more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is a bit costly initially, but it is well worth it in the long run, especially for fighting against a number of threats, such as ransomware, which the IT industry is facing."
"Azure Backup is a product that is priced at a cheap rate, and it is a great tool."
"The product is not expensive."
"Comparing the pricing with other technologies, Azure Backup is more affordable for customers. It follows a pay-as-you-go model, where we pay according to our consumption."
"The price is pretty good, maybe $30 for a machine, I can't complain."
"The product's pricing is a three or four out of ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is costly."
"This is an expensive solution in the Bangladesh marketplace."
"Pay as you go is the pricing model."
"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
"The solution is expensive."
"We have a very good return on investment."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
"I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
