Efficient management and upgrades streamline complex setups
My main complaint is about the blades on the frames, which seem to have a lot of problems. We often have to call HPE for replacements, such as for memory. Constant issues arise, leading to frequent replacement of blade parts. Additionally, the upgrade process is lengthy, requiring careful planning as we cannot match ESXi versions without aligning OneView first, leading to delays.

A stable, scalable and cost-effective solution that helps with inbuilt scripts for easy modification
I think the software is quite good, but we have had problems with getting it to recognize certain areas and amend certain checks, where we needed so we would have to create backend scripts for those checks. Though, being open source, it has the support to create backend scripts, it would be better to have these scripts in-built.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"Deploys faster new virtual services."
"The automation allows a complete implementation of a server with an operating system from start to finish by providing playbooks using the Rest API, and codes, from Ansible and using them towards the solution."
"I like that it is quite easy to add servers and get them monitored and manageable, create templates for server profiles, and see if all my servers are on correct firmware levels with SPP packaging."
"The single pane-of-glass and unified API allows you to handle everything from one single interface."
"The ease of installation and use help you to come up with a turnkey solution as quickly as possible."
"OneView is a really good option and it makes our life easy."
"Once setup, then it is more or less, forget about it; it just works away in the background."
"Technical support is top notch."
"It is really easy in Icinga to create your own plugin and integrate it without any fuss. And it works just perfectly fine."
"The drafts are easy but what I like about Icinga is that there are many add-ons that you can download."
"Macros and the ability to connect it to Google Maps are valuable features."
"If you have a small infrastructure or a small number of devices that you want to monitor, then I think it's a good solution."
"I use it for monitoring infrastructure and it was very good for that issue."
"The apply rules feature saves a lot of time."
"An affordable solution for small organizations to do basic network monitoring."
"We have found the solution to be stable."

Cons

"We have different operations teams managing the servers. It should be segregated more in terms of which operation team is managing which group of servers."
"I would like to see them improve the firmware and BIOS settings. I would like to make those a little easier to use and make it fit across more of our environments."
"It is sometimes limited between what we see and in the next version that there will be in the global dashboard, and it will help us to get a global overview."
"I’d like to see more functionality going towards the hybrid IT."
"I'd like to know where the product is going, whether it's converging with another, whether they're going to shut it down, etc."
"Integration could be improved. Sometimes OneView doesn't identify physical hardware."
"I would love the ability to either import a range of IPs for the ILO, or be able to do a scan."
"It tends to detect flood conditions on a lot of the networks."

"One of the areas that are frustrating is remote monitoring for more than one machine."
"Scalability is problematic. If you have a stable environment it's good, but if the environment is growing, I had some problems with Icinga."
"Sometimes, it is very hard to keep an overview of what's happening."
"There is room for improvement in multi-tenancy. It's not perfect, not even really good. It's average, but it should be improved."

"Network Discovery capabilities would be extremely helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice
