Enhanced mobile security with visibility into app and website usage, but installation challenges remain
We use Lookout for mobile devices, such as phones It has reduced our risk around mobile devices. I like the security features and being able to see what apps and websites people are using. There is nothing we have come across that we've desired. We have been using Lookout for one year. The…

Effective product tracking and monitoring enhances daily operations despite needing documentation improvement
The documentation part of Workspace ONE UEM can be confusing. The documentation is not comprehensive compared to other VMware solutions or Microsoft documentation. Most people struggle to connect the dots when looking at the documentation. Even the training material and PowerPoint slide decks that trainers use are sometimes too confusing or overwhelming, with too much content but not enough clarity. The support side has recently become weaker compared to what it used to be with VMware. This is another area that needs improvement. Since working with Workspace ONE UEM from when it was AirWatch, it has improved significantly over the last five years. However, there are still some gray areas and scope for improvement, especially in documentation and workflow between different aspects of the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The protection offered by the product is the most valuable feature. It detects vulnerabilities or traps on our users' phones and then prompts them to clean up their devices. Tools we used previously would only discover, which required us to gather information on the backend, so Lookout is a welcome upgrade."
"The most valuable features are the antivirus as a whole, the anti-malware, and all of the protection features that scan our enterprise devices."
"We have not had any issues with bugs or breakdowns."
"We can impose cybersecurity requirements."
"The solution scalability is very good, and we have clients mostly in medium to large-scale enterprises, with some large customers having approximately 1,300 devices using the solution."
"I like the technical support a lot; it's really first hand, high-level support."
"It has improved the way our organization functions; it provides security, and if an employee loses his or her phone or someone steals it, the data on the phone itself is secured because you can just centrally disable everything, so you only lose the device but not the data."
"This is a very stable product, and we haven't had any problems with it, including after any updates that were made."
"The benefit is that it helps our remote connections be as secure as possible, and being able to issue mobile devices increases productivity."
"It's a more secure solution to manage all tablets or mobile devices, helps us stay organized, integrates well with mobile devices and tablets, is stable and reliable, and can scale."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the tracking of the devices."

Cons

"We just submitted an enhancement request reflecting the main area we want to see improvement in; the APIs. Currently, we're able to build dashboards, but it's somewhat backward because we use our MDM API to create them. Lookout should provide API to customers so we can query our data and use it in our cloud, and this is the only outstanding area for improvement with the product right now."
"From the analysis that we've done, they do seem to be maybe a step behind in trying to enter the market with a new solution. But when they do pick up, they do come out with some good products."
"The initial setup requires a little bit of experience with configuration."
"Scalability is a problem because we have a service provider who is supposed to maintain the backend with patching."
"The bigger vendors like VMware, Insight, and MobileIron can assign engineers to customers. You can work with them to develop the right competency to use the product."
"I would like better integration for deploying programs with binary files."
"The console comes bunched together as a package and inbuilt. Its called Workspace ONE. Whenever we have an issue, we contact the service provider, and instead of a fix, we are just getting the next version of Workspace ONE."
"The console comes bunched together as a package and inbuilt. Its called Workspace ONE. Whenever we have an issue, we contact the service provider, and instead of a fix, we are just getting the next version of Workspace ONE."
"We have faced some issues with the stability of this solution. It is not as stable on mobile devices as Jamf Pro and Mac devices."
"The pricing could always be better."
"There could be improvement with processing the environment to be more user friendly for the end user."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Lookout is definitely on the lower end when it comes to price point and that seems to be the only differentiator. The technology is in place in this space and it's really about who is coming in at the better price point now."
"The pricing is fair; it's comparable to our previous solution, and we carried out multiple POCs and POVs (proof of value). The product is worth the money we pay for it."
"VMware Workspace ONE licensing price is good with their supportability. The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable. We are using an enterprise license."
"Depending on the requirements of users, there is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product."
"It's definitely a bit on the expensive side. It is more for smaller organizations and not large, massive enterprises. I am not sure about any additional costs. As far as we could tell, the billing was what the billing was."
"I think that the price is reasonable."
"VMware Workspace ONE is not cheap; it's quite expensive. However, in the end, they gave us a reasonable price."
"The pricing and licensing are affordable. They are not too high."
"You should take out a dedicated license agreement of your MDM fleet and invest heavily in innovating in this space."
"The license is paid annually."
