MuleSoft provides the ability to scale, yet it is costly to do so.
There are scalability limitations with Workato.

Stability Issues

Sentiment score
7.9
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform shows improved stability, minimal issues, and high reliability with optimized resource management in cloud environments.
Sentiment score
6.6
Workato, built on AWS, is praised for stability but can face challenges with high volumes and large data processing.
To handle more than 50,000 records, I use scripting actions like Python or JavaScript to process large data in chunks.
During the initial data loads with large volumes, Workato was unable to handle the data effectively, which indicates stability issues under high loads.

Room For Improvement

MuleSoft Anypoint Platform needs enhancements in processing, support, integration, and user interface for improved efficiency and usability.
Enhance team collaboration, improve feature discovery, expand cloud presence, refine reporting, clarify licensing, and optimize cost efficiency.
Currently, it uses other standards, but adopting OpenAPI, the standard in the market, would be beneficial.
When dealing with multiple transactions or trading, the system can lose control, and tracking becomes hectic.
MuleSoft is considered expensive, so pricing is a major concern.
Workato struggles with scalability when handling high volumes of data, such as terabytes, requiring chunking for initial data loads.
One area for improvement is the CI/CD pipeline, which lacks a version control system similar to GitHub for easier deployment.

Setup Cost

MuleSoft Anypoint Platform's pricing is complex and high, potentially deterring smaller organizations despite offering enterprise support.
Workato offers tiered pricing from $50K to $130K annually, justifying costs with integration capabilities and no hidden fees.
I do not know the specific costs, but given that it is part of MuleSoft, I suspect it is not cheap.
MuleSoft is considered one of the more expensive products in the market.
The platform reduces manual workload in maintaining infrastructure, but it does come with some cost considerations.
While the upfront cost is high due to task-based pricing, the cost is relatively low in terms of development because Workato provides necessary connectors for integration use cases.

Valuable Features

MuleSoft Anypoint Platform excels with API management, integration features, a user-friendly interface, and robust data management capabilities.
Workato streamlines integration with a user-friendly interface, extensive connectors, and low-code automation, enhancing efficiency without technical expertise.
The most valuable feature is the full lifecycle management, including Anypoint Designer and Exchange, as well as Discofolio API.
MuleSoft Anypoint Platform helps to standardize data integration approaches, making it easier to implement integration projects.
The platform is integrated with Salesforce, making it preferable when using Salesforce products.
It allows app-to-app and real-time integrations, which significantly enhance process efficiency.
It comes with pre-built connectors, eliminating the need to write APIs.
Development time is significantly reduced by its automation capabilities, which are beneficial for both SQL databases and APIs.

Robust, reliable, and stable, ensuring high availability for critical integrations
I would rate the scalability an eight out of ten; it is a highly scalable solution. We have around 200 end users using this solution in our company. We use it to its maximum capacity. However, it's not for P1 applications, but definitely for severity two cases (P2 level). It integrates critical applications, but it's not a platform that, if it stops, the entire system would come down. So, it's more like a severity two level. However, it has the potential to eventually become a P1 platform. Not exactly P1 applications, but a P1 platform. Because now we are still in the transition to migrate everything, all the integrations to Mule Anypoint Platform. But once it's done, then this platform becomes critical. Because even now, we have point-to-point connections.

Great automation and strong workflows useful for integration
The initial setup is quite straightforward. When connecting Workato with your on-premises system, you have to install the Workato agent on your network. It was not complex but a long process to configure and settle. Workato has not gone live for us yet, so only the developers are currently using it. But in terms of users, we will have close to 250 and maybe 30 additional direct users. We are seeing a lot of different use cases where we can add new recipes because we started small, and there are many different areas where we can implement Workato for automation.
