Ashraf Hamza - PeerSpot reviewer
Efficient with good data retrieval but improvement needed in user interface
Oracle APEX is very easy to use and comes with a lot of ready-made components that speed up the process of creating reports and dashboards. It is part of our agreement with Oracle E Business Suite and offers seamless data retrieval and performance. Additionally, we utilize its dashboard and reporting capabilities.
Somnath Kand - PeerSpot reviewer
Custom integration and reporting lead to efficient ticket management
There is a need for bug or error tracking in ServiceNow. Although there are child incidents or tickets, tracking primary issues or bugs within enhancements is not present. The reporting features in the new portal could be more user-friendly. While it provides options to minimize chart and image sizes, actual implementation doesn't always reflect these changes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"You can customize the solution to create a console where only business users can access and download files if they want to extract the data."
"The valuable features are charts, reports, and search engines."
"Oracle APEX is very easy to use and comes with a lot of ready-made components that speed up the process of creating reports and dashboards."
"What's most valuable in Oracle Application Express (APEX) is its secure coding functionality, and the solution also has good features."
"I like how we can actively develop and customize APEX because it's on the same database."
"Oracle APEX improved our organization by making it possible for us to implement agile project development."
"With only a browser, it is very easy to develop in a web environment."
"I like the fact that it is natively integrated into the Oracle database."
"The solution's initial setup process is easy."
"It is user-friendly and simple to use."
"The most valuable feature is that this is a Cloud solution."
"I really like ServiceNow and all of the features. The way incident management is built is very helpful. You have a lot of options to optimize it, customize it, and automate it. You also have a lot of options for reporting. There are plenty of possibilities to do preference management within your customer CMDB file. These are very useful features, which I missed in BMC Remedy ITSM. ServiceNow is the best ticketing tool I have used so far."
"In my experience, ServiceNow's most valuable feature is its flexibility. If you have a DevOps or development team, you can customize it to meet your specific needs. The tool's dashboard categorizes incidents, making managing it much easier."
"What I like the most is that it's a common service data model and the fact that everything is available on one platform."
"For change management, I find the CAB workbench very useful. I haven't seen any other solution that has a CAB workbench or advanced automated solutions for a change advisory board. ServiceNow also has the Workflow Engine which works very well and is very intuitive."
"The biggest feature is that it is cloud-based, so it's always updated, it's always current. We don't have to worry about patches, revisions. We're always working with the latest version."

Cons

"I would like to see easier integration into active directory authentication. Also, maybe integration of JavaScript frameworks would resolve some issues."
"The solution does not support the Linux platform."
"Occasionally when trying to un a page, I would be faced with an error number; however, not much information would be provided on the error itself outside of the programming language. It would be nice if more information could be provided."
"Connections to the application pages are not handled well and at times more than one user can be accessing an application with the same ID."
"There is one disadvantage. When facing problems, it can be difficult to find solutions online (Google/YouTube), unlike with Java coding, where solutions are readily available on Google."
"The workflow engine should be embedded in the solution."
"Reporting needs to be accessed via third party tools."
"Some of the application interfaces of Oracle Application Express are not very attractive and could be improved."
"ServiceNow doesn't cater to the Middle Eastern market."
"There is room for improvement in price."
"It's too complicated and there are too many options."
"When we are using the solution on mobile phones on their networks the performance is reduced with a delay of approximately 8 seconds. There is less delay using the desktop computers connected to the WiFi or to the network directly."
"The visuals are the one area where there is opportunity for improvement."
"I would like to see a mobile version of ServiceNow."
"There are Virtual Task Boards in the tool in the latest releases. There are many of them in the Scaled Agile Framework. There is some room there for improvement. It's really quite promising but, at the same time, it could be improved and I believe it will be improved soon."
"Its stability and pricing need improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is completely free of cost."
"To my understanding, my organization is using the free version of Oracle Application Express (APEX), but I'm unsure because I haven't checked the pricing or licensing cost for it."
"It is expensive, but I don't know what the licensing cost is."
"When you have a licensed database in an Oracle environment, APEX is free."
"Pricing is expensive, overall on an enterprise system but we consider that it gives corresponding value in the product."
"The solution is cheap. It's a free solution. I rate the solution's pricing a six or seven out of ten."
"I do not think this would be an ideal option for a small sized company or a startup when considering the salary requirements for Oracle DBA'a and developers."
"Apex is not priced separately; instead, it is associated with the Oracle database. A free option for Oracle database and Apex can be downloaded and installed on this complimentary database version. This aligns with our current approach."
"ServiceNow is a leader and its pricing is quite good, quite competitive... Sometimes some plugins are not priced reasonably but, generally, the platform itself, its modules, are priced reasonably."
"Getting the solution up and running is expensive."
"The product cost is higher than that of other vendors."
"Some time ago it was expensive, but large companies have special contracts. It's enterprise prices, and we're talking about millions per year."
"There are licensing fees."
"The pricing is reasonable and affordable, making it suitable for businesses ranging from small to large scale."
"I would say it is moderately expensive, ranging from six to seven on a scale of ten."
"ServiceNow pricing is an art, not a science. The deal depends on how commercially savvy you are, which does make it something that is quite difficult to get right. It is most definitely an opportunity area for ServiceNow to improve and have more visibility around pricing of the different products within the platform."
