Allows users to access and operate their computers remotely
When you want to transfer a file from your iPad or remote device to the computer, the copy-and-paste feature doesn't always work. I'd have to turn on the Bluetooth a lot of times and transfer it that way on both devices, which was troublesome. However, it would sometimes randomly work. I could go on my iPad, find whatever I wanted to do, click copy, then go over to the computer through Parallels Access, click paste, and it would randomly work. I had to call Parallels many times. They would log in and try something, which would temporarily work, but then it wouldn't. When it worked, it made integration between the two things great. That was a very helpful feature that didn't get polished.

Enhances user productivity and offers conditional-based authentication with micro VPN channels for internal applications
There are multiple features. It depends on the customer's use case, but for customers using VMware, we've seen that conditional-based authentication establishing a micro VPN channel to internal applications is most valuable. They know these are the only devices accessing their internal applications, and no outside devices can access any applications. That's the overall security posture organizations are looking for, and that's what we're delivering right now. Moreover, the integration capability of Workspace ONE enhances the IT infrastructure. Good integrations are available. There are a few limitations, but both Citrix and VMware are working on enhancements. But the integrations are pretty much similar.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's got a very easy-to-use interface."
"We don't have problems with stability. Everything is good."
"It's great that the total deployment can happen completely remotely."
"Parallels Access has flexible licensing policies, which is beneficial for customers who have intermittent usage or users who are on and off the system."
"Parallels Access gives me full access and control of the computer, and I can do anything I want remotely."
"A very easy to use solution."
"The solution's Self-Service feature is valuable because it gives a single managed application that users can download and use based on their preferences and productivity."
"It is easy to start something and work from scratch."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is that it enables us to remotely manage the devices, which is its purpose, and to push applications to the mobile devices from the portal."
"It has all of the features that we need to use and that we want to use."
"App delivery and management platform that's user-friendly, with a good interface. Easy to scale, easy to set up, with good stability."
"The most valuable feature is policy-driven control of the devices."
"The most valuable feature of VMware Workspace ONE is its reliability."

Cons

"One challenge we do notice is that the application is limited to Windows servers only. If a customer has a Linux server, things get complicated. They should open it up a bit to be more compatible with different types of servers."
"There is room for improvement in the pricing policy. The price point is pretty aggressive."
"They could improve the reporting."
"When you want to transfer a file from your iPad or remote device to the computer, the copy-and-paste feature doesn't always work."
"The solution may not scale well for enterprises."
"VMware Workspace ONE for the new users or the new clients that they try to procure and learn it, there can have difficulties. It does not have user-friendly portals. The portal seems to be more user-friendly in Microsoft solutions."
"Its performance is quite good on Apple phones or even mid-range phones. If you install an AirWatch on a phone that is not too powerful, you will have performance issues. That's only because the phone is not too powerful, and there is not enough memory, etc. They could do a lighter version for a less powerful phone. It would also be useful for very small companies that don't want to spend money on expensive phones. Having said that, I don't think that is their target market. If their target market is enterprise, all enterprises perhaps have an agreement with Google or Apple, and they would get a phone that has already been tested, and they know that AirWatch will work on that phone."
"Windows 10 management is there, but VMware only recently developed that part, and it's not fully mature. Patch management and other integrations are there as well as the application-pushing part, command line, mandatory commands, etc. Some out-of-the-box solutions should be available to better integrate a broader range of applications and handle application push. That's the roadmap we should look at."
"We have experienced some connectivity issues."
"VMware Workspace ONE sometimes has bugs that prevent it from working as intended or expected. Generally, these bugs can lead to unexpected results and hinder effectiveness."
"The SaaS environment is not very responsive at times, so the performance can be improved in that regard."
"I would like better integration for deploying programs with binary files."
"There is no Apple zero-day support for updates."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs are about $100 per user."
"A person should pay towards the licensing costs of VMware Identity Manager on a yearly or monthly basis, but government and public sector units cannot for a perpetual licensing model."
"The pricing and licensing are affordable. They are not too high."
"Licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis."
"There is a separate cost for technical support and extra premium features. The pricing should be simplified."
"All licenses from VMware are only yearly. They start with a yearly license and look for a three-year commitment and yearly PO."
"The price of the solution is costly for the number of users I am using it for."
"The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable."
"The pricing currently is higher than the competition."
