We performed a comparison between Trend Micro Apex One and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Users feel Trend Micro Apex One is a solid choice. It is very user friendly and easy to implement. Endpoint security with zero-day vulnerability is extremely valuable. Users feel Trend Micro Smart Protection is lacking in monitoring capabilities to stop threats before they break into the network and damage it, making it a less desirable choice.

"Trend Micro Apex One is a seamless solution compared to others."
"The most valuable features of Trend Micro Apex One are it has its own machine learning and it is quite fast, compared with the other solutions. When you're comparing the other solutions, each has pros and cons, you cannot claim one is 100 percent suitable for you. None of the solutions dominate in all areas."
"The management console is pretty good. We have a dashboard that shows us what stuff to log, different malicious links that people are trying to access and also if somebody was trying to connect something to the computer, to a USB port or something like that, and if this person is on the under control management. It shows that he tried and he got blocked."

"The stability is good and I like the level of performance I can get."
"Your workstation doesn't slow down, unlike when you use Symantec, for example."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection includes compliance features where you can establish rules against endpoint vulnerabilities and attack parameters. It offers Smart Detection, Smart Update, and sandboxing to detect and analyze suspicious files, providing a smart approach to zero-day threat detection. Trend Micro Smart Protection offers rapid response to zero-day threats with a strong team backing up the discovery process. Virtual patching is a crucial feature, effectively closing vulnerable ports and access points. Regarding web reputation services, aggregating data from multiple sources, including Trend Micro, Proofpoint, and others, helps inform threat prevention efforts and automate responses."
"Product-wise, it is amazing. It includes DLP, vulnerability management, and application whitelisting features. These features are very good and add value in selling this solution to our customers. These features make the key selling point. I recently did a comparison with the FireEye firewall for a customer. They were basically going to replace Trend Micro with their EDR. Because of these features, I could convince the customer that Trend Micro is better than FireEye."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"We find the solution to be a bit expensive."
"The solution is not stable."
"Detections could be improved."
"The security should be strong for the cloud. Some applications are on-prem and some are on the cloud. Fortinet should also have strong security for the cloud. There should be more security for the cloud."
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"I think cloud security and SASE are areas of concern in the product where improvements are required. The tool's cloud version has to be improved in terms of the security it offers."
"They should include easy-to-use connectors to make it easier to connect to SIEM."
"The security features need improvement."
"The integration is lacking in Trend Micro Apex One. It does not integrate well with Microsoft p solutions. For example, with Office 365, we have to buy another solution for mail protection. That's why we are assessing Microsoft Defender 365 because we have an email from Microsoft, an endpoint from Microsoft, and we use Windows systems."
"Apex One has some room for improvement on the agent side. I want to get more from the logs and those kinds of things. I want to see whether the agent has the proper updates or any issues with the machine itself."
"Trend Micro Apex One could improve by providing signatureless detection, reducing the agent's needed system resources to increase performance, and enhance further the vulnerability assessment feature. These changes would be very helpful in the future."
"Trend Micro Apex One can improve its vulnerability assessment and monitoring tools."
"In the next release, I would like to see IBS included in OfficeScan."
"The Apex One endpoint sensor has room for improvement."
"Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."
"The solution’s technical support is not very good and could be improved."
"In the next release, I would like to see a combination of the different features from Apex One and OfficeScan in Trend Micro Smart, rather than as upgraded features."
"There is room for improvement to make it better for customers."
"I cannot recall noticing any missing features."
"Sometimes, the tool bases its actions on behaviour, and we lack a policy learning mechanism. If Trend Micro Smart Protection introduced an AI model, its protection capabilities would be enhanced. I used a different browser once, which may have prevented protection. Another time, our own ISP was added to the blacklist, and it took the support team two business days to resolve it."
"This product is not very simple and in fact, kind of hard for some people to understand."
