Stable solution and easy to setup
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution."
  • "Sometimes it can be difficult to share flows for multiple users to edit."

What is most valuable?

I really like the built-in integrations with other applications like Teams. The product is also straightforward and easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Sometimes it can be difficult to share flows for multiple users to edit. So, it is a potential area of improvement.

For additional features, it would be helpful to have a more collaborative building of flows.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

Big range of connectors but the OCR capabilities not as evolved
Pros and Cons
  • "Technical support is responsive."
  • "Their OCR capabilities are not as evolved as the other tools."

What is our primary use case?

In our organization, the solution is popular where there is a need for attended automation or user. That "human in the loop," as we call it. There it is more popular than the other tools.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature we have found with the solution is the AI Builder. And they have a big range of connectors that we are finding useful.

What needs improvement?

One area of improvement needed for the solution is regarding the cloud source versus desktop flows. The desktop flows are not as absent, and there are other limits in features when it comes to comparison between the two solutions that Power Automate provides. So perhaps the desktop could also start including features like Connectors and Builder because these are the more frequently used. But both of the tools have their own utility.

It's evolving well. I have seen Power Automate eight months ago and have seen it now. So there is definitely a big step ahead. It's improved and it's rather helpful.

There is one feature I'd like to see added in the next release. Their OCR capabilities are not as evolved as the other tools. They do allow some AI Builder methods to achieve that. But in the desktop tool, the OCR functionality is not very useful. Everything has to be done on our text-based outcome. I'm sure they're already working on it.

For how long have I used the solution?

Power Automate is relatively new. I've been working with the solution for eight to nine months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solutions that we have built are going well. They are used, and we've not heard of any breakages there. I would say they are stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution is something we are still working on. Currently, we have a use case where we are trying to make it more scalable and there are means of doing it. Sharing up the flows and all of those things do add to the scalability. It's relatively new compared to UiPath, but I don't think they'll take very long to come up to speed.

How are customer service and support?

When it comes to technical support, I'd like to draw a comparison between UiPath that's more popularly used. UiPath has a very good forum and we get most answers on the forum itself. However, the technical support itself is not that strong.

Whereas in Power Automate, it is just the other way around. The forum is bad; we don't get anything there. But technical support, they're pretty responsive. And any queries you write to them, they usually do come back quite promptly. I'm happy with the technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of the solution is pretty straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

Due to the pricing model, the solution is more convenient than any other tool. That is one plus that Power Automate has over the others.

It's very easy to use. Like we say, it's a "no-code solution." So even though all solutions do claim that, there is a little level of skill that is required when it comes to learning the other tools. But Power Automate is relatively the easiest to pick up.

UI Automation is something that they have made very easy, but editing both selectors is a challenge in Power Automate. There is not that much of a need to edit the selectors. But in case there is, then it is a challenge to edit them.

This solution is capable of doing pretty much everything that the other tools are capable of, and they have extremely competitive pricing. It is definitely an advantage. Their approval systems and interactions with the other tool. We have even tried some inter-vendor solutions, integrating UiPath along with Power Automate, for example. Those things work pretty well with Power Automate. It's convenient, not just for the end-user, for the business user, and it is also convenient for the developer. It's very simple and approachable to use as a solution.

I would rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Easy to use, quick to deploy, and great for organizations that use a lot of Microsoft
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
  • "It would be great if it was able to integrate more with various other platforms. It would make development easier."

What is our primary use case?

The solution can be primarily used small process automation of day-to-day activities, such as routing of emails, Excel sheet manipulation, and more.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very scalable.

The solution is easy to use.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward.

Technical support has been great so far.

If a company already uses a lof to Microsoft applications, this solution is great.

What needs improvement?

The solution should offer similar features that users can easily access if they use Automation Anywhere or UiPath.

It would be great if it was able to integrate more with various other platforms. It would make development easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been dealing with the solution for two years at this point.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product can scale well. If a company needs to expand its use, it can do so.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been great. They are helpful and responsive and I have no complaints.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I'm also aware of solutions such as Automation Anywhere and UiPath. They, at this point, are much more feature-rich.

How was the initial setup?

As a cloud-based solution that is very easy to implement. It's not overly complex or difficult. It doesn't take too much time to deploy.

You only need two or three people to deploy and implement the product in an organization. You don't need a big team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution offers a yearly subscription package.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten. Currently, we have ten customers that are using the solution.

I would recommend the solution to other companies and users, however, only if they have a Microsoft suite of products that are in use and they already have a license based on that usage.

A simple solution with an interface that allows one to scale up with ease
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the scalability option and the simplicity, the way we can really use the interface to easily scale up."
  • "There should be more transparency when it comes to which features accompany the pricing, as there appear to be hidden features of which I am not aware."

What is our primary use case?

We have the latest version installed.

What is most valuable?

I like the scalability option and the simplicity, the way we can really use the interface to easily scale up.

What needs improvement?

There should be more transparency when it comes to which features accompany the pricing, as there appear to be hidden features of which I am not aware.

There are factors we must consider when scaling up, such as whether we are using full or partial features. Were I to buy an additional premium, another license, I would lack clarity what I could expect to get in exchange or whether the features would help me to scale up. This is why better transparency is important.

Scalability can be improved and this is why it is key to know how the features can be integrated into the scalable solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Microsoft Power Automate for the past six months or so.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The ability to know how the various features can be integrated into the solution would improve scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

I have not had occasion to contact technical support, so I am not in a position to comment on it.

How was the initial setup?

Installation was pretty easy, as we handled it through our office, making use of our office license.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There should be increased transparency about which features attend the pricing.

What other advice do I have?

We are customers of Microsoft.

There are more than 100 users making use of the solution in our company.

I would definitely recommend this product to others for its ease-of-use.

I rate Microsoft Power Automate as an eight out of ten.

Offers and easy setup and is stable and scalable
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is very stable."
  • "It would be great if you could integrate outside of Microsoft environments."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to not only automate processes but also to be an intermediary or a glue among the applications of Azure in the Microsoft universe.

What is most valuable?

The Outlook on the SQL server has been extremely valuable for us.

The solution is scalable.

The product is very stable.

For the most part, the initial setup is quick.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see more integration with the desktop application, and on-premise server as well as the SQL database. That would be really nice.

It would be great if you could integrate outside of Microsoft environments.

The initial setup can be a bit tricky if it is a complex environment.

The product needs a clear integration between the UI recorder and the steps that you do and the codes and the qualification that you do on the RPA there.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about three years. I used it even before it was called Power Automate. It's been a while at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have very high regard for the stability of this product. There are no surprises. It doesn't crash or freeze. There aren't bugs or glitches. It's reliable in terms of performance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. Basically, I deploy it on one desktop, on a system that consists of only one single desktop computer, and then deploy it on a server. That handles a lot of systems and processes at the same time, without any problem, and without having to invest in any additional resource or any additional time.

Typically our clients are medium to large organizations.

How are customer service and technical support?

We don't really deal with technical support. We mostly provide documentation to the client and they can deal with technical support if they need to.

However, we barely have any problems as the solution is very intuitive.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't find the initial setup exactly complex. It was more of a common characteristic of Microsoft products. It is easy to learn. As you learn the complexity of the requirements, there seems to be a little bit uphill to climb.

The length of time it takes to deploy the solution varies. It mostly depends on the complexity of the requirements. If you have a simple implementation that's a matter of no more than one or two days. On the other hand, if you have a complex implementation, you have to invest about two weeks to two and a half weeks to have everything on production.

In terms of the number of people you need for the process, that varies too. For just a simple solution, you could have one solo person that is in charge of the consulting and the implementation of the solution. If you have a complex problem, you have to have a person that is the consultant, a person that is building the solution, and then a person that is making the implementation, and a person who is providing maintenance. You can have a team of about four people if there is a complex deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We are an implementor and consultant. We assist clients in setting up the solution in their organizations.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not first evaluate any other options before choosing Microsoft's product.

The main competitors would be UiPath or Automation ANywhere, for the most part. The main difference is likely the pricing. There are other differences as well.

If you want to Automation Anywhere, there's not exactly a good availability for a medium-sized business. For example, Automation Anywhere has something called Community Edition, but it is a bit too small. It's better for smaller organizations. Then, from that, they make a big quantum jump to the Enterprise Edition. That is a little bit expensive. There's no middle ground.

The same thing happened for example, with Blue Prism. It's a little bit expensive.

UiPath is a little bit more spacious than Power Automate. I still trust that Power Automate is going to close the gap. It works with WinAutomation and as soon as they get all the features and all these technical aspects of the hardware, it is going to create a stronger Power Automate. Soon Power Automate will be able to reach all business segments, and, at that point, it will be very powerful.

What other advice do I have?

I'm not sure of which version of the solution it is. It's in the cloud and therefore constantly updated.

I'm a consultant.

I would advise, in general, around any tool, just be clear with the requirements. No matter what sophisticated tool you were using, if you're not clear about data, then the software is not going to work.

I have customers where we have to make a data governance program or project first before we implement it. You have to be clear with all your data, with all the possible information that's part of your data path. Be clear about how efficient your processes are before you enter into an RPA or process automation project. This is the main thing.

As for the product itself, it is easy to use. You're not going to have any surprises.

I would rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We've been happy with the product overall.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Enables us to alleviate customer pain points by automating their data entry processes and enhancing archiving capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The program requires no code making it very easy to implement various functions."
  • "During their merger, some key functions were eliminated which no longer allows it to run independently from the cloud as a standalone for other companies. For example, options to schedule and trigger have been removed. It would be nice to have these capabilities back. The flow and the connectivity between databases and so on is a bit complex as well."

What is our primary use case?

I am the head of RPA solutions at my company where we implement this product for our customers. These are insurance companies that have legacy systems and prefer to keep their RPA off the cloud.

How has it helped my organization?

The product allows us to alleviate customer pain points by automating their data entry processes and enhancing archiving capabilities. We are able to minimize the delays of various claims and policies while improving data entry accuracy. We also offer them the ability to archive various communications to a variety of archiving portals such as SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

The program requires no code, making it very easy to implement various functions.

What needs improvement?

During their merger, some key functions were eliminated which no longer allows it to run independently from the cloud as a standalone for other companies. For example, options to schedule and trigger have been removed. It would be nice to have these capabilities back.

The flow and the connectivity between databases and so on is a bit complex as well.

For how long have I used the solution?

We were using Softomotive for approximately three years until they were purchased by Microsoft where it was then merged under the umbrella of Microsoft Power Automate and we have been using this since - it has been about a year and a half since the merger.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Overall, I would say that it is quite stable, but with the merger, we are not ready to move to the latest version until we can completely replace all of the old functions. I would say the product is 90% stable.

We require five team members to maintain the product and assist our clients.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is quite scalable. When considering extending more processes, features, machines, etc. it is a much cheaper and easier option.

How are customer service and support?

We are still communicating with the Softomotive support team that we have been using prior to the merge and they are perfect. Microsoft is supportive as well.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward and easy, especially in comparison with other RPA's such as UiPath or Automation Anywhere.

What was our ROI?

We are able to see high returns thanks to having few machines with minimal implementation costs. We are able to present our clients with their ROI upon completion of each project and they see ROI's as soon as their first month.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This is the cheapest option among competitors.

You can choose to have the RPA with attendance at $40/month with add-on's totaling about $190. There are standalone options that require someone to run the process and there are fully automated options that are integrated within the cloud.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We were trying some open source solution, but it was not really reliable so we did not continue with it.

What other advice do I have?

The actions and functions are much easier than other competitors.

I would rate this product an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Useful for low and medium complexity work and easy to learn and use, but needs better stability, support, and integration with third-party tools
Pros and Cons
  • "It is very easy to learn and use. It is quite useful for any sort of back-office work. Any kind of work with low and medium complexity is very doable in ProcessRobot. For higher complexity, some refinement is required, but it is doable."
  • "It should be more stable, and their technical support should be faster. It should also have more integration with tools from other vendors, such as SAP and Oracle, and technology partners, such as Salesforce."

What is most valuable?

It is very easy to learn and use. It is quite useful for any sort of back-office work. Any kind of work with low and medium complexity is very doable in ProcessRobot. For higher complexity, some refinement is required, but it is doable.

What needs improvement?

It should be more stable, and their technical support should be faster.

It should also have more integration with tools from other vendors, such as SAP and Oracle, and technology partners, such as Salesforce.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is not very stable. They're working on the refinements. I would rate it a six or seven in terms of stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable but not to an optimum level. It is more scalable than WinAutomation, but it is not as scalable as UiPath or Automation Anywhere where you can scale to 50 bots at a time.

We have 20 to 30 users of this solution. In terms of increasing its usage, it depends on the customers. Customers who already have this solution will keep using it.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support should be faster.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use WinAutomation. ProcessRobot is any day better than WinAutomation. It is newer and has more capabilities than WinAutomation. ProcessRobot is also better than WinAutomation in terms of scalability.

How was the initial setup?

Its initial setup is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is on an annual basis.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution for small to medium deployments but not for very large-scale deployments.

I would rate ProcessRobot a seven out of ten.

Browser integration and good documentation makes it easy to use, but the licensing should be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "Power Automate is intuitive and easy to use."
  • "The licensing model is difficult to understand and is something that should be improved."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it is integrated into the browser, which means that you don't need a development environment.

Power Automate is intuitive and easy to use.

There is a broad community so you can find a lot of information on the web about how it works. It is also well-documented.

What needs improvement?

The licensing model is difficult to understand and is something that should be improved.

When you are implementing a project, it's quite difficult to comment on what it is that you are doing. For a simple project it is fast, but to have a better overview then it gets complicated.

I would like to see more integration with other products.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Power Automate for about two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Power Automate is a scalable solution. We have between five and ten developers who are using it.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support from Microsoft is good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We primarily use UiPath for our automation.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward and it took us about two hours to deploy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are many different ways to license it.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good product and one that I recommend. For anybody who is considering it, my advice is to do a proof of concept at each phase.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
