Good personnel administration features, but the setup is complex and it should be more user-friendly

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the Personnel Administration.

What needs improvement?

The Time Management feature is not very user-friendly.

The speed of technical support can be improved.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SAP HCM is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I wouldn't say that the technical support is the greatest. They take quite a long time to respond to issues.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex. The deployment took between six and eight months. It is not an instant process.

What about the implementation team?

We used consultants to assist with the deployment.

What other advice do I have?

This is a product that I can recommend.

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Integrates with all business processes, flexible configuration, and scalable.

What is most valuable?

Integration with all business processes, standard features, flexibility in configuration, full scalability.

Integrating Information systems between different business processes allows in my opinion the increase of efficiency in the organization. This is because data coming from HR is directly available to other processes. Extra HR (imagine Posting of Travel Expenses, Reports on Subordinates, Hours posting to WBS Elements or different Cost Centers, Employee's Master Data as Vendors or Customers of the Company etc.)

What needs improvement?

Graphic interface and usability for end users.

SAP is not a last generation system. Users experience the use of the system as it was in 1998. I started working then and nothing has changed until now. Nowadays, people are used to web interfaces, user-friendly screens and rapid deployment functionalities. A different way of using the system in my opinion could avoid the thought that this system is not up-to-date.

For how long have I used the solution?

18 years

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Some during the first years, but nothing blocking.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There could be cases where the first configuration is not done in the most perfect way, in these cases some issues arise.

How is customer service and technical support?

7.5/10

How was the initial setup?

I managed very different kinds of projects. The product can be configured in lots of ways, everything depends on the customer and their desired processes to be designed.

What other advice do I have?

Don't think it will be costless or effortless.

It reduces paperwork and requires minimal manpower.

What is most valuable?

SAP gives the best automation solution, which not only reduces paperwork but also with minimal manpower we can obtain maximum results. Senior management can view the current status of the organization, financial status, stock condition, sales status, etc. from one place, and can even check these things from their smart phones from anywhere in the world. This helps management take result-oriented decisions that will result in higher expected revenue, which in turn provides the best ROI from this application.

How has it helped my organization?

It provides a transparent look for the entire organization and with zero issues in payroll and finance posting. Also the reporting that SAP provides helps any organization see the required information.

What needs improvement?

The Core Talent Modules should have been improved, but SAP has introduced SuccessFactors, which has the best solution for Talent Management. I think SAP has covered the earlier gaps in the latest version, but it’s still too early to say.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for the past 11 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have never encountered any stability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is 8/10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have always worked with only SAP from the beginning.

How was the initial setup?

Initial setup was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SAP comes up with its own price, hence licensing will be at its mark.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing this product, I did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

If your company needs a stable solution, go for SAP.

Stable and scalable but is fairly expensive
Pros and Cons
  • "We've found that the solution has the capability to scale."
  • "The solution is rather expensive."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for automating HR processes.

What is most valuable?

The product has been very stable overall.

We've found that the solution has the capability to scale.

What needs improvement?

The solution is rather expensive.

I'd like to see the solution offer even more stability in future releases.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been on the solution for many years. We started using it originally in 2013.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is pretty good overall. It's reliable and the performance is good. It doesn't crash or freeze. There are no bugs or glitches. It's good.

That said, stability is an area that can be constantly improved upon.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution is okay. It's possible to expand it. that's not a problem.

We have about 20 to 30 people using the product within our organization.

We do not plan to increase usage. We are not planning to continue to use it at all. We are moving away from it entirely.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never been in touch with technical support at all. I have no idea if they respond quickly or if they are knowledgeable enough about the product. I can't give any insights due to my lack of experience dealing with them directly.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

While we are currently using SAP HCM, we are in the process of scrapping it and moving over to SAP SuccessFactors.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I do not have very good knowledge of the pricing itself. It's not an aspect of the solution I directly deal with. However, it's my understanding that the cost is quite high.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution at a six out of ten.

We're actually moving away from it currently, and are in the process of doing so right now.

I would not necessarily recommend the solution to other users or organizations. There are other options on the market that may be more suitable.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Sellers have no product knowledge, and there's poor licensing in the Middle East that leads to product delays
Pros and Cons
  • "The stability of the solution is good."
  • "SAP is not ready to sell the license on time and delays the progress of projects. It's better to work with a competitor like Oracle. Those that are selling the product just go through powerpoints and don't have the knowledge necessary to sell. They can't answer any questions."

What is most valuable?

The product overall is very good.

What needs improvement?

SAP is not ready to sell any licenses in the Middle East.

SAP is not ready to sell the license on time and delays the progress of projects. It's better to work with a competitor like Oracle. Those that are selling the product just go through powerpoints and don't have the knowledge necessary to sell. They can't answer any questions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution since 2013.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability of the solution is good.

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. We don't extensively use the solution in our organization. It's not a core module for us.

I'd rate the solution one out of ten. It doesn't allow licensing in our region, and they need people on the ground here. Product-wise, I'd rate it good, but in general, SAP needs to work with the customers to sell licenses and sell according to the customer's requirements.

I wouldn't recommend anyone implement SAP at this time.

Better alternative products available, support could improve, but simple setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The setup was straightforward."
  • "SAP HCM has many different channels for communication with the consultants which makes it complex. There are delays when there is a problem."

What is our primary use case?

In general, we use SAP HCM for career management models. For example, appraisals, training, courses, planning, plan courses in the system. It is an integration between SAP compliance and the federal government.

I worked with other systems and other solutions that can be integrated with SAP. For example, I worked in SuccessFactors in a company that has other systems integrated with SAP On-premise. I know the KPI without the integration tools with these other systems.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP HCM for approximately 14 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SAP HCM is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found SAP HCM to be scalable.

How are customer service and support?

SAP HCM has many different channels for communication with the consultants which makes it complex. There are delays when there is a problem.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used Workday, Oracle AME, and SuccessFactors.

SuccessFactors was very complex to use for the public sector.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was straightforward.

What other advice do I have?

It is important to understand the process, the project, and the architecture before getting involved in these types of solutions.

I would recommend this solution to others. The solution has improved over the years. For global industries, I recommend companies implement SuccessFactors or Workday.

I rate SAP HCM a four out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A good user interface and an overall good solution but the implementation can be difficult
Pros and Cons
  • "The user interface is the solution's most valuable feature. It makes it easy for us to use."
  • "The implementation of the solution can be a bit difficult. They should make it easier. If it could be as simple as the SuccessFactors implementation that would be ideal."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for company payroll, evaluations, and assessments.

What is most valuable?

The user interface is the solution's most valuable feature. It makes it easy for us to use.

What needs improvement?

The implementation of the solution can be a bit difficult. They should make it easier. If it could be as simple as the SuccessFactors implementation that would be ideal.

There should be integration with iOS products. It would be nice if we could integrate it into the field currently, but it's not active.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about 2.5 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution isn't too stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 300 people on the solution currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support could be more helpful.

What other advice do I have?

We use the on-premises deployment model. We will switch to SuccessFactors and it should be on the cloud. I'm a certified SAP consultant.

I'd recommend the product. It's a good solution. If I was comparing it to SuccessFactors, I'd rate it seven out of ten.

A scalable solution with good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The technical support is quite good."
  • "It would be nice if the solution migrated to S/4HANA."

What is most valuable?

We find all the features to suit our needs.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice if the solution migrated to S/4HANA, although this is not an immediate need of ours.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP HCM for five or six years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is quite scalable.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is quite good.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not work with other products prior to going with the solution.

How was the initial setup?

As with all solutions, we found the initial setup to be complex but, with time and use, it became easy.

What about the implementation team?

We have an internal team that is responsible for maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I cannot comment on pricing, as this is not within my purview.

What other advice do I have?

The solution is quite good as a business product, useful.

We are satisfied with the solution.

There are 300 people utilizing the solution in our company.

We are talking about a very friendly product, which sets an industry standard.

The interface with biometrics is good. It works well.

I rate SAP HCM as a seven or eight out of ten.
