What needs improvement?

From a technical point of view, all EMC products have to improve the troubleshoot feature like, log should be in human readable format.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used Sympana commvault and CA arc serve. Both the products are good for small organisations but not up to the mark for enterprise level.

What about the implementation team?

Through vendor team; try to just know how to fix the hardware and plug the networker cable. Rest of the things we had to do remotely.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

For enterprise level backup solution – No.

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for backups.

We are a reseller. We use Veeam for a virtualization platform and we use Veritas for enterprise backup.

The solution is deployed on-premise.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the ability to create a trust relationship and historical reports.

What needs improvement?

The pricing could be improved, and the interface could be more intuitive.

Our company has been using Veritas NetBackup for 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't had any issues with technical support. It's okay.

Pricing is expensive, so it could be lower.

Has good VMware VADP backups but it's very difficult to make it work with multiple business units

We use it for general backup on our servers.

The most valuable features are: 

  • The VMware VADP backups
  • The support for data domains

In terms of improvement, it's very difficult to make it work with multiple business units. Its security model is too constricted.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Veritas Backup for eight years. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

One of the best features is the performance is very good.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is average. Not perfect and not bad. 

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was complex. The networking was very complex; there are a lot of firewall ports.

It takes a few days to deploy and we do it with somebody in-house. 

Both our side and the vendor's side are required for maintenance. 

What other advice do I have?

I think it's probably a solution that has passed its prime. There are probably better ones out there.

I would rate it a seven out of ten.
