What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability has been a pain point. The scalability is there, but there are ongoing operational issues with it.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support needs to do a better job of triaging tickets and updating critical people at companies.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is straightforward. Automation Anywhere provides customer success managers to help with the setup.
What about the implementation team?
I am an RPA consultant who does deployments.
What other advice do I have?
Whatever you automate, it is important to identify what you want to do after your journey.
Attended automation is okay.

I build a lot of processes which have saved a lot of time for my company using this solution
Pros and Cons
- "It is very easy to use and learn compared to a programming language, where you have to have a background in coding. Anyone can learn it. Learning the software is easy."
- "Sometimes, the recorder from Automation Anywhere does not work well and is inaccurate. This should be improved."
What is our primary use case?
The primary use case is to automate processes internally for my company.
How has it helped my organization?
I build a lot of processes which have saved a lot of time for my company using this solution.
In my previous company, a payroll employee would close a payroll, which resulted in him receiving six to seven reports. He managed 15 companies. Each report took him 30 to 40 minutes per company. With Automation Anywhere, I was able to save this work time for him. He was then able to focus on other value-added tasks. The bot now pulls the report for him, sending it directly to the client.
What is most valuable?
It is very easy to use and learn compared to a programming language, where you have to have a background in coding. Anyone can learn it. Learning the software is easy.
As a developer, the product is easy to use. It has a lot of commands that I can select from, such as folders, organizing files, and going to websites. It saves time from what a human would be doing.
What needs improvement?
The only challenge is knowing the process of using the software.
I would like to have Git implemented with the version control system.
Sometimes, the recorder from Automation Anywhere does not work well and is inaccurate. This should be improved.
How are customer service and technical support?
I haven't had experience with the technical support. I never call them.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I would like them to have better license management.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Automation Anywhere is a very friendly tool compared to other RPA tools.
What other advice do I have?
Look into the usefulness of RPA robotic process automation. As a solution, Automation Anywhere is complete for business users and developers.
The bot creation is easy if you have one or two TaskBots. However, if the process is complex, you will need to split the process into modules.
The solution integrates very well with other applications. Though, it only works with Internet Explorer right now, but you can run other applications with an open program. Object clone captures the objects very well from the software. It code APIs, run stuff from the back-end (like SQL queries), and executing procedures. Everything is in one package.
While I am registered to take courses with Automation Anywhere University, I don't feel that I need to take them. I learn from hands-on training.
I am new to learning about IQ Bot, but I think it is really useful for an insurance company because they scan documents all the time.

It is a great company resource that is easy to use and learn
Pros and Cons
- "Our organization used to have a process which took five business days to do: our monthly pricing update. This was a very manual process. Our very first bot built was to automate this process. Now, the bot runs in the background every month and the process takes less than a day to run."
- "Working with the Automation Anywhere servers and domains have proven to be difficult. We are trying to get more licenses and servers set up, so we can run multiple scenarios simultaneously."
What is our primary use case?
We are using Automation Anywhere to automation some of our menial processes.
We have automated our pricing update and audit functions that we do as an operations team.
How has it helped my organization?
Our organization used to have a process which took five business days to do: our monthly pricing update. This was a very manual process. Our very first bot built was to automate this process. Now, the bot runs in the background every month and the process takes less than a day to run.
What is most valuable?
It is easy to use and learn.
What needs improvement?
Working with the Automation Anywhere servers and domains have proven to be difficult. We are trying to get more licenses and servers set up, so we can run multiple scenarios simultaneously.
I am excited for the web browser Automation Anywhere. This will be helpful for us because the solution is limited to our team at the moment. A web browser solution would allow us to expand it to different teams.
How are customer service and technical support?
I haven't really had to work with the Automation Anywhere technical support. I mostly use my in-house technical support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Their previous process was terrible, so they started looking at automation as a solution.
How was the initial setup?
While the initial setup is fine, the servers have caused us a few headaches.
Our first bot was complicated, and probably not the best thing to start with. However, as we learned from that experience and more of Automation Anywhere's features, we can now push bots out fairly quickly. The process is a lot smoother. Our infrastructure and design have improved tremendously.
What about the implementation team?
We deployed the solution with our in-house team.
What was our ROI?
We were spending 50 to 70 hours a month doing manual processes and possibly making errors. Introducing bots has saved us on hours and eliminated of errors (as bots don't make them). We have not had an accuracy issue since introducing bots.
In terms of monetary savings, we automated a bot in three days that has saved us $30,000 in costs.
What other advice do I have?
A lot of companies are putting a lot of effort into increasing and improving their front office processes.
It is a great resources right now. I am really looking forward to ramping up for my second year of going into automation.

Saving primarily time, we have a high ROI
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable features are ease of use and deployment."
- "I am looking forward to seeing writing on Linux in the web and WorkBatch in the next release."
What is our primary use case?
We wanted to have more automation around our customers' processes. We do claim insurance type processing. Therefore, we wanted a process for their first notice of loss and a lot of the government regulations that they have to handle.
How has it helped my organization?
We started using the tool in-house to help us deploy a lot of our own internal processes. We also use it to deploy Automation Anywhere bots to set up other virtual machines and deploy software.
We have automated sending out a first notice of loss. We have done some automation of incoming documents, but it has been somewhat hard. Therefore, we are looking at IQ Bot, as a possible solution.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features are ease of use and deployment. It has very good ease of use.
It integrates very well with other applications.
What needs improvement?
I am looking forward to seeing writing on Linux in the web and WorkBatch in the next release.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is very good. I haven't had any issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is very good. I haven't had any issues.
From pilot to our current number of bots, it took about two months.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is very good.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We chose Automation Anywhere over other solutions due to the ease of deployment. We had also looked at UiPath, but their deployment was more difficult. We have some on-premise clients, so we were going to have to also deploy Automation Anywhere for them in their environment, and we needed something easy to roll out.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
We used a reseller for the deployment.
What was our ROI?
Our return on investment is high. We have saved primarily time.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
If you are looking into Automation Anywhere, get the Community Edition and play with it.
What other advice do I have?
I like the Automation Anywhere University courses.
We are looking at using IQ Bot to digitize documents.

Digital Expert at a consultancy with 10,001+ employees
Has a lot of out of box features when it comes to SAP, Excel, and others but you have to recode again and again
Pros and Cons
- "Automation Anywhere was easier to learn for the developers. It has a lot of out of box features when it comes to SAP, Excel, and others."
- "The biggest issue was that the new license required upgraded hardware infrastructure so we were getting all new tech stuff procured which meant that we were getting updated RAMs and things like that. Getting the licenses was easier but building the infrastructure which was required to support the new version was difficult."
What is our primary use case?
I deployed this solution mostly in the finance and accounting space. We had two primary use cases. One was automating the procured invoice to pay process and the other was automating the order to cash cycle, OTC process.
How has it helped my organization?
It increased productivity. It raised the productivity percentage of individuals 20 to 35%. We also saw cost reduction.
What is most valuable?
Automation Anywhere was easier to learn for the developers. It has a lot of out of box features when it comes to SAP, Excel, and others. However, on the other hand, I did not like one feature which is a built-in linear code that is a straight line and it does not have the modular functionality of UiPath so the code becomes one long code and if you need to make changes you need to look through the entire code and make changes. After the code is returned, even if there are some changes in the process, the support cycle is really difficult because, with UiPath, it's modular in structure. For example, one variable changes so it's declared as a variable and you can just change it and the code automatically reflects the change. It creates a nightmare to maintain. That was the one key drawback from Automation Anywhere. The good thing about Automation Anywhere was learning the best practices of it and using the development framework was easier so getting developers who knew AA was relatively easier than getting developers who knew UiPath or Blue Prism.
What needs improvement?
We faced a big challenge when moving from AA9 to 10. That was a nightmare. The whole process took six months to one year because we had to do it for 12 to 15 clients in my organization and I was leading the Automation Anywhere deployment for 25 clients.
The biggest issue was that the new license required upgraded hardware infrastructure so we were getting all new tech stuff procured which meant that we were getting updated RAMs and things like that. Getting the licenses was easier but building the infrastructure which was required to support the new version was difficult.
For how long have I used the solution?
One to three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Automation Anywhere is one of the least stable RPA tools out of the top five RPA solutions. A lot of times you need to rely on certain features that are really unstable. Three years back 90% of our projects were on AA. Two years back it became 70% with 20% being on Blue Prism and 10% UiPath. This year onwards it's around 50% on UiPath and 50% on Automation Anywhere. The reason why we have 50% on AA is because we have a developer strain on AA. The code is not stable. You have to recode again and again. Then when you do recode, changing the code is really tough.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scalability is good. It's one of the better ones.
How are customer service and technical support?
We didn't face any issues from their technical support. They were responsive and helpful.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is more straightforward compared to other solutions like UiPath. Initially, it is relatively difficult. If you have a very simple straight linear process then Automation Anywhere is easy to implement and to deploy but as soon as you get into complexities or where you have more rules like finance or accounting where I deployed specifically at times, there are a lot of variances in the process. That's where Automation Anywhere actually becomes a headache to manage.
What was our ROI?
If you implement it right way the ROI can start within one year. It delivers quick benefits in terms of ROI.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's cheaper than other similar solutions.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution a six out of ten.
I would advise two things to someone considering this solution. Go for it if you are positive it is very simple and you understand your processing end to end. It is a cheaper tool compared to others and the initial implementation is relatively easier. You will get results faster. Second, if your process has many variations, is complex, and you do not know a lot about your process, do not use Automation Anywhere, otherwise, you will run into trouble while going live and after support.

Stable, scalable, and easy to use
Pros and Cons
- "Automation Anywhere is stable, scalable, and easy to use."
- "The product's technical support could use improvement."
What is our primary use case?
Automation Anywhere is primarily useful for any processes with repetitive data entry. For example, supplier invoice processing. This solution can be deployed on-prem as well as on the cloud.
What is most valuable?
Automation Anywhere is stable, scalable, and easy to use.
What needs improvement?
The product's technical support could use improvement.
I can't think of any additional features I would like to see. The existing features are okay.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been providing Automation Anywhere for over four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Automation Anywhere is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This product is very scalable.
The number of customers we have using this solution exceeds 50.
How are customer service and support?
Automation Anywhere's tech support could be more knowledgeable.
How was the initial setup?
The installation is straightforward. It usually takes under two to three hours. Full deployment can take anywhere between four to twelve weeks for one process automation. For deployment and maintenance, we have a team of roughly three to four: one project lead, one solution architect, one BA, and one developer.
What about the implementation team?
We implement this solution through an in-house team. We are IT service providers and partners of Automation Anywhere, so we provide this solution to customers.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Provides many helpful features to improve efficiency and save time, in particular with business documents
Pros and Cons
- "The tutorials that are available from Automation Anywhere are very helpful for newbies to learn the platform and get going with the tool."
- "Automation Anywhere is not fully compatible with browsers other than Internet Explorer while working with web extraction."
What is our primary use case?
We use this solution for all the business processes and mainly to integrate with Excel files, our database, and our ERP.
We basically process data that are in form of Excel, PDF, or CSV formatted files. We also interact with information that is stored in our database.
Generally, we automate a lot of processes that are repetitive and time-consuming. We work mainly with processing data, thus reducing the time needed to do the process manually. The workforce is also reduced for completing simple tasks like logging in to a forum, as well as complicated tasks like banking or finance. All of these all possible.
How has it helped my organization?
Automation Anywhere has helped us in many ways and is one of the best RPA tools. AA has helped us to spend less time on repetitive tasks by automating them.
The two most important aspects are saving time and saving effort by our workforce. Repetitive work and rule-based tasks are the areas that are being replaced by bots.
The tutorials that are available from Automation Anywhere are very helpful for newbies to learn the platform and get going with the tool.
What is most valuable?
It is very difficult to pin down one valuable feature because each and every one of them is valuable in its own way.
I find that IQ Bot is the most amazing feature, as it helps us to work more efficiently with business documents.
Object Cloning is another good feature that helps us to save time.
Metabot is another valuable feature that exists in AA.
PDF integration is another important feature that avoids using IQ bots, and using the OCR helps us to extract text from an image.
What needs improvement?
I have had some difficulty with OCR extraction, which could be a little better.
Automation Anywhere is not fully compatible with browsers other than Internet Explorer while working with web extraction.
Maybe there could be more options added for PDF integration.
Having a few practical use cases added to online learning would be helpful for newbies.
Other than these, I don't see other difficulties. In terms of extra features, they are adding them day by day to make for the smoother automation of processes.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using Automation Anywhere for the past seven months.

IQ Bot helps with the conversion of semi or unstructured data to structured data
Pros and Cons
- "Automation Anywhere has improved my organization by automating many rule-based and nonjudgmental processes in domains like telecommunications, human resources, financial services, and daily or monthly reporting."
- "The Automation Anywhere Control room component features can be improved, as of now it contains too many roles and rules which makes it confusing to use it."
What is our primary use case?
I have used AA to automate window-based applications like SAP, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Database, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access), CSV/TXT file, folders based operations, etc. When it comes to web-based applications, AA really shines. Automation applications Share-point, Blackline Reconciliation, Agile point submissions, and Web-based reporting exercises are in real-time.
When it comes to the database AA also works pretty well with SQL and Oracle by executing CRUD queries.
How has it helped my organization?
Automation Anywhere has improved my organization by automating many rule-based and nonjudgmental processes in domains like telecommunications, human resources, financial services, and daily or monthly reporting. The deployed bots/automation helped the organization in terms of errorless progress, meeting SLAs in time, 24/7 working hours, reducing dependencies from the human workforce, and FTE realization.
The realized FTE was deployed in more of a complex process and the employee utilization also improved.
What is most valuable?
Out of all the features from Automation Anywhere version 11, IQ Bot, is the most valuable feature because it helps us in the conversion of semi or unstructured data to structured data which made it possible to automate a lot of complex processes.
Other than the IQ Bot, the below commands in the task bot also shine in a very useful and reliable way:
Excel Spreadsheet Commands, Database Commands, API Integration, Credential locker management feature and Workload management feature.
What needs improvement?
The Automation Anywhere Control room component features can be improved, as of now it contains too many roles and rules which makes it confusing to use it.
They should make it more simple because a lot of times I have to go through the user manual while dealing with the Automation Anywhere Control Room.
I always wanted a python and javascript editing console in version 11, which I later found in A2019. Earlier, only Run script command was there to directly run the scripts which somehow creates one additional dependency to the solution.
For how long have I used the solution?
I am using AA v11 for three years and A2019 for the last two months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Its pretty nice actually. AA is very stable with Windows-based applications.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
When it comes to scalability, the mini bots comes into the picture and helps us to scale the automation.
How are customer service and technical support?
It was very satisfying.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used Blue Prism as a primary automation tool but due to the limitation of commands/stages the organization considered AA as a primary tool.
How was the initial setup?
It was very easy to install since it automatically validates if all required files are installed in the machine or not.
What about the implementation team?
My organization is partners with Automation Anywhere.
What was our ROI?
I am just a developer so I have no idea about ROI.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I do not have that much knowledge about cost/pricing or licensing details.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I worked with Blue Prism also.
What other advice do I have?
I am pretty impressed with the A 2019 version.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
