Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Ability to segregate data, well-suited for medium enterprises and installation is quick
We have some challenges. If we look at the challenges we face in the market, there are a few products like Sophos, where there are features of MaaS360, and the IBM EDR product, ReaQta. So, there are features from both ReaQta and MaaS360 available in Sophos, as well as a few other products, which we have challenges in replacing. MaaS360 definitely caters to a few of the requirements, but when someone is going for a solution, all the features are not available in MaaS360. It is like a combo, MaaS360, and IBM ReaQta, that is, EDR, ReaQta. Both of them, together as a combo plan, actually offer a very good proposition in terms of market competitors. There are a few products like Sophos and another product which have features from both endpoint detection and response and mobile device management. Because we have two different products with those features, we face challenges in proposing a particular product for the client. It is like a marketing challenge. The way other competitor products are available in the market. So it is better to have a different positive team, but, again, to remain in competition and have better scalability. So, IBM needs to integrate a few features that the competitors have in their products. No doubt, this is a different product, MaaS360. We call it MDM. We call it endpoint mobile device management. Then we call it different names that MaaS360 falls into. But when we are talking about competitor products, to remain in the competition, you need to have features that others provide. IBM surely has those features in other products, but not in MaaS360. The only challenge was replacing already existing competitor products with MaaS360. So, that’s the only area where we struggle because they always come with those requirements that they are already getting in the competitor’s product, which is not available in IBM’s MaaS360. So this product lacks some features, like Unified Endpoint Management.

Custom integration and reporting lead to efficient ticket management
There is a need for bug or error tracking in ServiceNow. Although there are child incidents or tickets, tracking primary issues or bugs within enhancements is not present. The reporting features in the new portal could be more user-friendly. While it provides options to minimize chart and image sizes, actual implementation doesn't always reflect these changes.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Our bank's most valuable Intune features are centered around the dedicated device concept."
"Maturity makes it a stable product."
"Dynamic groups allow us to set conditions for automatic membership, eliminating the need for user intervention or manual review and ensuring a seamless workflow."
"What I like most about Intune is its seamless enrollment process, particularly the Autopilot method."
"The feature that we need occasionally but is really important is the ability to remotely wipe a device, control it, and perform similar functions."
"Within Intune, managing policies and having a consistent way to manage devices is valuable."
"Intune device restriction policies enable me to enforce limitations on the device, like blocking the mobile camera or restricting the employees from using and inserting USB devices, including thumb drives and flash drives."
"We can implement a MAM policy in this Intune and protect the device through mobile application development without touching it. The interface is easy to use and understand."
"The best feature is the ability to control mobile phones, wipe and containerize the data, and keep employees' work data separate from personal data."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that we can find a lost device or shut the device down and wipe it is good for HIPAA."
"We've found the scalability to be very good."
"Asset management is the most valuable feature and integral for device inventory."
"Remote enablement feature and access to internal resources on the VPN."
"The ability to send an iPad out to someone and have them auto-provision it when they are out in the field is fantastic. We don't have to have it all configured before we ship it. This is probably the biggest value add."
"I like the way mobile device management works in terms of how the data is segregated, as well as the office and personal data."
"One valuable feature is the ability to provide a secure environment. Another is the kiosk mode where MaaS360 can be used over a tablet or mobile device to ensure that a single application is used."
"ServiceNow provides quite good insights about what is happening in the organization."
"The most recent addition of SAM Premium is a game changer for many organizations."
"Identifies better ways to license software or eliminate unused software to save money."
"We have found the service easy to use, although, we have ended up customising a lot of parameters."
"Primarily, we use it for incident management and change across the landscape. It is the virtual repository for our incident management processes. It gives us visibility about what's happening from the change management perspective across our CABs, including our enterprise CABs."
"The most valuable feature is the flexibility of development for customization."
"One feature of ServiceNow that is important is the workflow engine. From my perspective [as a consultant] the power to be able to structure processes, represent workforce management for organizations, and the visibility provided by the reporting are additional top features."
"I think the technical support is pretty good. They can be a little bit slow sometimes, but overall I think they're good."

Cons

"Intune could add more features that are relevant to the core application control functions. For example, it would be helpful if it had more control over the on-prem environment from the cloud platform. Greater Teams availability in the Saudi market would also be helpful."
"Data leak prevention can be integrated into it. Currently, it does not have data leak prevention."
"Microsoft Intune is not user-friendly to manage and has room for improvement."
"It needs incorporation of Knox, ZeroTouch, etc."
"It would help if administrators could pinpoint the exact location of a stolen device to help law enforcement retrieve it and apprehend the suspect."
"The product needs to upgrade itself when the server is overloaded."
"Intune does not provide real-time visibility."
"Microsoft Intune's support for Mac devices is lacking and could be improved."
"The price could be lower."
"Local technical support would be helpful."
"IBM MaaS360’s threat management feature needs improvement. It could identify even more malicious attacks."
"We had a problem with Microsoft computers. If you downloaded emails on a Microsoft Windows Surface PC, that would also require a license. The Outlook application didn't look great for us on a PC."
"Zero day support is something they can work on. They can make it a little bit more user-friendly."
"The user experience really isn't so good."
"The look needs to be updated and it could be simpler to use."
"It's difficult for someone like me to set up a phone that doesn't require a SIM card, like Apple's new phones."
"They could improve license management, particularly when integrating different applications or toolsets."
"We find it good in general. Obviously, there are areas of improvement for every capability. As they evolve more, if they keep on adding more intelligence into the capabilities, it will improve. The improvement areas are more integration across the landscape and more intelligence for the overall capability of the solution."
"Licensing costs are very high."
"It's too complicated and there are too many options."
"For healthcare, which is a pretty audited environment, there are no concrete solutions for digital signatures, apart from our license with Adobe, so it requires orchestration."
"There are sometimes challenges with the portal being a bit confusing for new users. The implementation of the portal and workspaces is quite different, and improvements in this area would be beneficial."
"We are struggling with the scheduling part, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a ServiceNow issue. It could be the way we have configured it. We don't have it configured in a way where you can schedule a support call with our end users. We are looking for more automation in the box and the chat feature."
"They can maybe improve the area of agile project management. They do have user storyboards and other things, but we kind of lean on Jira for that work. This is perhaps an area that could be looked at a little more."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Previously the price was $4 per month per user. Now it's $2.25 per user per month."
"Intune is linked with Microsoft. We can deploy the Microsoft E365 license to users by Intune. There are different types of licenses, such as device administrator licenses, E5 licenses for device enrollment manually, and P1 and p2 licenses for device enrollment automatically. These are the licenses required for the administration."
"The pricing is inherently reasonable, as Microsoft leverages market insights to maintain the total cost of ownership at around ninety to ninety-five percent of what would be incurred in an on-premise scenario."
"It is cheap, but as compared to Google, it is costly. Google is cheaper, but quality-wise, Microsoft Intune is better."
"It is reasonable. When you have Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license, it is already licensed in that license. So, you could say it is free."
"Any bundle package, such as Security E3, covers multiple things, such as AAP, BitLocker, etc. If you go for them individually, they would be more expensive. Bundling makes the price more attractive and competitive."
"It's reasonable. They're not giving it away, but it's reasonable."
"It's affordable. In comparison to the competitors, the price depends on what features you need from Intune, but it's affordable. There are no hidden costs, but there are some features that go for a premium price. Those are the add-ons for which you have to pay extra."
"IBM MaaS360 is cheaper compared to other alternatives. Others are at least three to six times costlier."
"Fees are monthly and it's approximately $8 per user."
"IBM products are a little pricey."
"I rate IBM MaaS360's pricing a six out of ten."
"There are other solutions cheaper than IBM MaaS360, such as Microsoft Intune."
"MaaS360 is priced at a balance. It is not as expensive as AirWatch or Jamf and is not a cheap solution like a few of the local products."
"I rate IBM MaaS360’s pricing a six out of ten."
"I feel the pricing to be very high."
"We know that ServiceNow is not cheap, it's more expensive than other solutions. But we are trying to increase our ability to handle tickets so that the cost per ticket is less."
"It's sold as a less expensive solution, but it has to be highly modified. That's where you get into the cost."
"The licensing expenses are excessively high."
"I have found the solution very expensive."
"The cost is quite high."
"The pricing is reasonable and affordable, making it suitable for businesses ranging from small to large scale."
"The product cost is higher than that of other vendors."
"It has a higher cost compared to local/regional solutions."
