Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Helps save time and money for users
I used Ivanti Endpoint Manager because I had one of their other tools in my old company, which is a DSM. DSM was used for my old environment, which I was responsible for, and I was really satisfied with Ivanti. Ivanti later on decided not to sell DSM anymore and stopped supporting it. Ivanti then offered people a tool named LANDESK. Ivanti Endpoint Manager is a tool we are bringing in place in our current company, and it has a similar functionality to DSM, a reason why my company decided to go for it. We also install machines from scratch with the tool. We can also patch third-party products, and it does not even have to be Microsoft always. Actually, we get a lot of freeing up resources because we can now manage Ivanti Endpoint Manager from a central point, which was not possible earlier, and we had to run to each machine.

Good for patch server management
For Endpoint Central, as an end-user system, we set automatic deployment from Friday. If, for any reason, there are instances that are missed, we check every day from 07:00 AM to 05:00 PM. We don't need to submit automatic deployment, so it's still part of my deployment process. We set up a test server. Once we are okay with the patch that they need to test, they approve it, and then it applies to production. We used Microsoft. So, for asset processing reports and things like that, we had to move to ManageEngine. They changed the name to Endpoint Central. So, it's like that in terms of being much better and having more functionality as a product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable includes managing everything from a single console."
"The biggest benefits of Intune are the ability to push changes and the added security. When we moved forward with Defender, we onboarded all those machines automatically. That helps dramatically. For a while, we were left with machines that weren't protected. We could see where people had done things they shouldn't have done, and Defender saved our skins a few times. It didn't happen a lot, but it happened enough that it made us glad we made that decision."
"The security features are most definitely valuable. If I have to give an example, the lockdown features that prevent employees from configuring anything or downloading company data are valuable. We get high-quality device protection, malware protection, and information protection at the same time."
"Microsoft Intune has helped us by improving our security posture, leading to fewer security problems, and helping us understand where we have issues."
"One of our clients migrated the model workplace based on Intune, achieving a 78 percent cost reduction, which is quite a lot."
"It's really easy to access."
"It's easy to manage and easy to configure."
"While Microsoft Intune boasts a wide range of features, its user-friendliness and bundled licensing cost are key considerations for me."
"Ivanti is a great product from a security perspective."
"The product saves time and money."
"Desktop Central has improved these organizations and this is why it has been repeated multiple times at multiple organizations. If something works and is getting better it is worth repeating."
"The stability is very good."
"The most valuable feature to me is the vulnerability management."
"ManageEngine Endpoint Central has significantly simplified my device management practices."
"The ability to run event viewer, task manager, services, command, file browser, certificate all remotely without interrupting users is the most valuable aspect. Software deployment and prohibiting, allowing us to standardize on the software that has been deployed through the environment and then prohibiting illegal software such as torrent applications has been valuable."
"Very good, functional solution for endpoint management."
"Page management and ADA integrations are the most valuable features of ManageEngine Endpoint Central."
"ManageEngine Desktop Central is stable."

Cons

"Technical support is not that great."
"I would like some integration with the Microsoft reporting platform Power BI."
"In future releases, I would like to see better integration with Apple products."
"The solution's app deployment needs to be improved."
"Manually syncing devices to enforce policies is cumbersome."
"Intune has all the features enabled for Windows devices but needs to be improved on iOS and Apple devices."
"The installation is very easy. However, to be able to configure it you will need special knowledge, such as training or self-studies to have a proper level of security. There are many settings one has to understand before being able to implement Microsoft Intune."
"Intune's reporting and logging could be improved. When troubleshooting, it's difficult to collect the logs and determine what's happening. If I want to filter out the compliant devices, I can see it from the logs, but I would like the option to drill down further."
"Setting up the solution on-premises is difficult and needs improvement."
"The product's implementation process is in areas of concern where improvements are required."
"I really feel like asset explorer should be a component of desktop central. That would make it the ultimate desktop management tool. This would also simplify the asset management role since an agent is already being deployed and assets could be added at the same time."
"There are times when we have a particular software installed in our system, but we do not receive patches for it from Endpoint Central."
"Sometimes computers fail to receive patches, and we need to investigate why."
"There is a slight delay in customer support, which is something that can be improved."
"Their support channel could be better. They're an India-based company. They're based out of India. So, here in the States, support can be difficult when you're dealing with time zone requirements. A more global support channel would be a wise choice for them."
"The solution should be better at integrating with other solutions."
"Even when it shows Java as up-to-date, it might not be. So, to make it better, they should improve the accuracy of Java patch reporting."
"The reporting analytics could improve in ManageEngine Desktop Central. However, there are some third-party add-ins or modules you can purchase to do reporting analytics."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for Intune and the competitor products are all within the same range, there is no true advantage when it comes to cost."
"The E5 license is expensive."
"In terms of the product price and licensing costs, my company finds the product to be reasonably priced."
"The price for Intune is fair."
"Intune is available as an individual product, but it also comes with Office 365 Premium or an Enterprise license, and the price varies for each version."
"Microsoft Intune is reasonably priced for large organizations that already have Microsoft Enterprise licenses, but it is less affordable for smaller businesses."
"The pricing is inherently reasonable, as Microsoft leverages market insights to maintain the total cost of ownership at around ninety to ninety-five percent of what would be incurred in an on-premise scenario."
"If you're subscribing to Premium or E3, there are no additional costs for Intune, it's included."
Information not available
"The pricing is average."
"The product is not expensive."
"We pay about $250 a year for our license."
"The price could be cheaper."
"We had perpetual licenses. The cost was around 36,000, and then you'd have the yearly maintenance fee of 2,000 or 3,000."
"The product is cheap."
"Could provide more services on the standard license"
"There is a freeware version of the solution available as long as you do not breach the number of licenses and users that are dictated."
