Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Provides effective mobile security for small companies yet needs a clearer user interface and better support
We provide services to small companies with ten to fifty clients. It is important for us, as we operate as an IT company and system integrator, to deploy solutions like Sophos Mobile for mobile security and device management The features that stand out for maintaining mobile security are…

Provides enterprise mobility and remote control mobile device management
I would like to see some SMS integration so people can send data directly from a mobile phone through SMS when there's no internet. This feature would be good because there are some places in Africa where the internet stability isn't that good. During the voting process, they send the result through SMS. If SOTI can add the functionality where some of the clients can send information offline, via SMS, then that would be a good improvement for some places where there isn't a lot of internet stability.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Dynamic groups allow us to set conditions for automatic membership, eliminating the need for user intervention or manual review and ensuring a seamless workflow."
"We have one MDM that works with Windows, iOS, and Android."
"One valuable feature of Microsoft Intune is the enrollment process, which is user-based, making it easier to manage compared to AirWatch."
"It supports end-users who tend to lock their devices quite frequently. Its conditional access policy helps us keep the users logged into their devices."
"The Autopilot feature is fantastic. It is a Microsoft product, so it deals best with Microsoft operating systems, but it can integrate with iOS, Mac OS, Linux, and Android."
"I find Microsoft Intune valuable primarily for its Windows management capabilities, along with its Android Enterprise and Apple device management for mobile devices."
"Mobile device management is most valuable."
"It is a very stable and scalable cloud-only solution."
"Sophos Mobile has been rated nine out of ten for security and performance."
"The most effective features for device security are the policy and management capabilities."
"The most significant features of Sophos Mobile include controlling user installations and managing features like the camera, which can be disabled or enabled."
"One of the most valuable features of Sophos Mobile is the Wifi password."
"I recommend Sophos Mobile to medium-sized companies."
"Sophos Mobile offers several valuable features, such as device tracking, allowing me to know where a device is located."
"I like the level of interaction that the product offers with the other products in our company's environment."
"Sophos has good customer support, and that is crucial for sustaining business relationships."
"The licensing is simple."
"The feature I find most valuable within Soti is the ability to reset or unlock a device. A lot of the devices that we use are in the field. We have locations in Dallas, San Diego, Seattle, Washington, and Phoenix, Arizona and there isn't always someone, within our company, who is managing these devices. Sometimes it's the doctors' offices that we partner with where they use these devices. Having the ability to remotely reset a device or unlock a device has been super-crucial for me."
"The best feature is its compatibility with various device versions, such as Windows, making it work seamlessly."
"The most valuable features of SOTI MobiControl include location tracking, geofencing, remote device control, and SOTI self-service mobile browsers."
"All features are useful. It is useful for preventing the use of unauthorized software on corporate-owned devices. It provides an option to lock the devices for unauthorized software. The devices can only be used under the supervision of the device manager."
"We can do auto patch updates using SOTI. SOTI has been well placed in terms of the number of endpoints it can handle."
"The most valuable features are remote control, remote monitoring of the mobile phone data, GPS localization, automobile network management, identity management, speaker logging, and remote management of mobile content."
"The most valuable features of the solution are containerization and app control."

Cons

"It would be interesting to integrate the server side of Intune. Some group policy updates we have on the Windows Server side and possibly some on the client side could also be included."
"It would be better if I could integrate it with my core group policy. I would like to have a group policy in my current environment, which has strict control, but those things are still missing. Although it has maximum compliance and security, it's not available on-premise."
"The interoperability or communication with a different platform can be better. It is a two-way street. It is not only about Microsoft. The other platforms also have to be willing to share some information, but that absolutely can be improved."
"There can be more logs. I do not have any other requirements."
"There needs to be more support for Mac operating systems."
"The feature that allows us to import the business application from the configuration manager to Intune is not very good at this time."
"The most significant challenge is reporting and monitoring. The reporting accuracy for deploying applications and all aspects of Intune needs to be improved."
"I would like to see easier pushdowns. Currently, we have to package our own software and then push it. Intune can make that way easier and integrate applications, such as Zoom and Adobe Acrobat, that are used by a lot of enterprise or corporate organizations."
"There is room for improvement in Sophos Mobile's security management for endpoint security."
"The features of Sophos Mobile could improve. The way the system works together could be better. Additionally, the integration with other Sophos products could improve."
"They continue to work on integration with mobile device management and mobile security. They are improving the protection but I think that the capabilities still need to be enhanced."
"To manage the Apple devices is not that straightforward there are a lot of features the other third parties solutions are offering which Sophos Mobile is not."
"It could be more secure."
"There may be necessary adjustments that need to be made because we are facing certain restrictions within the work profile."
"In terms of what could be improved, the initial configuration and setup of the environment could probably be made a little bit easier. There are so many pieces that go into it. Intune is absolutely insane and Sophos is better, but it still is a bit complex to get it all set up correctly."
"The area for improvement in Sophos Mobile is troubleshooting."
"Reporting could be better. When I try to run a report, it doesn't have a filter or even a feature where I can choose what I have in the report. That's been a struggle since the first time I used it so I just don't touch it anymore."
"I would like them to improve the process of enrolling Android devices. It's much more difficult to enroll Android devices than it is Windows CE devices. There are a lot more steps required."
"They don't have systems that are built for redundancy. You have one database that manages everything and, if that database crashes, you have a problem."
"Adding more features for iOS devices would be an improvement."
"There is room for improvement when it comes to the ability to customize devices and choosing what information goes onto them."
"We're deploying an application upgrade. We can't do more than three or four devices at once, and we don't know if the device actually received the upgrade. There's no indicator saying it's 100 percent complete until everything is done. Let's say I work East to West. I work on the East Coast and I want to confirm it was done with the upgrades in that region. I wouldn't know until I actually went into it. There's no indicator telling me that it's complete."
"The previous version, for example, had the networking signal and that feature was great. When we were troubleshooting, we could find the level of the network I/O. If the worker was working in a corner of the warehouse where the signal was not as strong as in another part of the warehouse, we could tell, "Just move a little and you will have coverage for your device." That was great. I don't know why they removed it from the newer version."
"Companies like SOTI and Mobile Iron are working with Google to help them manage these devices and eliminate the use of bar code scanner sales and mobile device sales. That's kind of crazy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune has been incorporated into our Microsoft E5 licenses."
"The pricing is good because customers are not complaining about it."
"Intune comes with the licensing that is common for large organizations. However, Microsoft has recently released many add-ons that are very expensive, especially for large organizations or corporations."
"Licensing depends on how you are providing support to your enterprise, whether it's device-based or user-based."
"My team members bundled it together with their Microsoft solutions, including Microsoft 365 and related products."
"There are licenses required for this solution. We enable licenses on the devices we need to manage."
"Intune is available as an individual product, but it also comes with Office 365 Premium or an Enterprise license, and the price varies for each version."
"There is a license required to use this solution. However, it was part of a bundle package. Microsoft Intune is far less expensive than other solutions, such as Workspace ONE."
"Sophos Mobile is inexpensive."
"The licensing fees are paid based on a one-year or two-year subscription."
"The licensing is paid on a yearly basis."
"The product is not suitable for smaller companies because its price is high."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"My company needs to make yearly payments for the licensing charges attached to the product."
"Apple is starting to do beta testing with their own solutions and for much cheaper than Sophos Mobile's price."
"It is an expensive product."
"I thought pricing was kind of high, but I believe that Soti is probably the best out there for this type of software, so there's not much I can do about that. The licensing is annual, per device."
"There are additional costs if you want to use extra features."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing a five."
"It's a little bit expensive."
"The pricing is reasonable and the licensing model is very reasonable when compared to some of the competitors in the market. I can speak directly regarding Intune, which is very expensive compared to SOTI."
"Pricing is okay, but when you buy your renewal of licenses - at the end of the period or the year - if you have a lot of devices, obviously, it's going to increase. In the end, it's kind of expensive."
"SOTI MobiControl is a cheap solution."
