Engineering Manager at a manufacturing company with 51-200 employees
A stable, scalable and easily installable solution with good technical support
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is scalable."
- "My main pain point concerns the licensing price, which could be lower."
What is our primary use case?
What needs improvement?
When it comes to security features, the package is important. The high 11 packages offer security.
While I don't consider this to be an issue, I believe Microsoft 365 Business to have better internal integration then it does with outside solutions.
My main pain point concerns the licensing price, which could be lower.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft 365 Business for two or three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable.
How are customer service and support?
I feel that technical support is pretty good, although we have not had much occasion to make use of it.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Prior to using the solution, we made use of Microsoft Exchange's on-premises version. We use Office 365, which is basically the cloud-based version of Microsoft Exchange.
How was the initial setup?
The installation is simple, although I do not know how long it took, as I was not responsible for this.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay a monthly subscription fee for the license. It could be lower.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is cloud-based.
Microsoft dominates the market. Though there are other solutions available, almost everyone is using it, as it offers ease-of-use.
Our organization has 300 users who are utilizing the solution.
While I would recommend the solution to others who are contemplating its implementation, I believe that doing so would be superfluous, as it already dominates the market.
I rate Microsoft 365 Business as a nine out of ten.

Interactive, easy to use, and flexible
Pros and Cons
- "In terms of user experience, it is very easy to use and flexible. It is more interactive as compared to the other tools that we have. Its features are more useful than other software solutions."
- "For the past six months, I have been facing a synchronization issue between the calendar of Microsoft Teams and the calendar of Microsoft Outlook. In Microsoft Teams, I can't see the updated version of some meetings, but Outlook shows the updated version. There is a problem with data synchronization between the calendars of these applications. Both calendars should be synchronized."
What is most valuable?
In terms of user experience, it is very easy to use and flexible. It is more interactive as compared to the other tools that we have. Its features are more useful than other software solutions.
What needs improvement?
For the past six months, I have been facing a synchronization issue between the calendar of Microsoft Teams and the calendar of Microsoft Outlook. In Microsoft Teams, I can't see the updated version of some meetings, but Outlook shows the updated version. There is a problem with data synchronization between the calendars of these applications. Both calendars should be synchronized.
In Microsoft Teams, more controls should be added in terms of broadcasting and webcasting. Sometimes, there is a lag in shifting control and transferring the content to an audience with more than 500 people. They should make it more usable for a large audience. We frequently conduct training sessions with more than 500 people. We also have annual meetings and collaboration with different teams on a single platform, and it gets difficult to shift the control of the presentation to another team. It currently takes a lot of time, which is not helpful when most of the people are attending meetings outside of their office hours. Zoom is comparatively easy for training programs and broadcasting.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution for four and a half years. I believe we are using the latest version. It was updated by my company last month.
How was the initial setup?
It was straightforward. We did not do much in terms of the steps. In terms of help from Microsoft for installation, we had technology support teams that made the setup easier.
We were facing issues with the legacy infrastructure. We were not able to leverage some of the features because of the legacy infrastructure and the origin of the licenses for them. That's the reason why we asked for additional support. Their technical staff upgraded the infrastructure, and we then changed the licensing and updated it. That's how we managed to leverage the latest features.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Everything is offered as a bundle package.
What other advice do I have?
I would advise using the latest version of Microsoft Office 365 because it is comparatively enhanced in terms of security and user experience. If you are using the earlier version, it might not be that feasible in terms of the COVID situation and working from home. The latest version is way better than the earlier version.
I would rate Microsoft 365 Business an eight out of ten.

Mainly, we are using 365 Business for enterprise automation, which we are currently doing for one of our clients.
What is most valuable?
The best thing about 365 Business is its availability.

Advanced Technology Executive at a computer software company with 1,001-5,000 employees
Excellent dictation is one of many valuable features
Pros and Cons
- "Recording is a major feature for us. Dictation is huge. I use that on client calls when the client is speaking."
- "Outlook should tie into a backend database and everything should be done in the Outlook screen."
What is our primary use case?
My use case is internally, as a seller communicating with my fellow colleagues. We use the OneNote package for Windows 10 to share internal knowledge. That gets used every day, all day. We use Microsoft Dynamics as our CRM, and we have done something really wonderful and are able to have them all talk to each other. We put in an account code in one area and it is documented in many different areas.
What is most valuable?
There are a couple features that I have found most valuable. Recording is a major feature for us, at least internally. It took a lot of conversations and I can't type that fast. We are able to capture and then go back and repeat. Dictation is huge. I use that on client calls when the client is speaking, I can give you a play-by-play of that conversation, with their permission, of course. Then the obvious features, Outlook and email are just spot on. I never have any glitches there. It's sent and received within the timeline of five seconds and life is good.
What needs improvement?
In terms of what could be improved, it has always been my question why can't we just have one solution? Everything is an add on. You've got Microsoft Office or Microsoft Business, and I think Outlook should be the primary. I think Outlook should tie into a backend database and everything should be done in the Outlook screen. When I take notes, go to the conversation with the client or my client folder, and I've got a notepad in there as I'm documenting notes, anybody in the company should see it. I should not have to then cut and paste my notes and put them into CRM or Dynamics, things of that nature. As an operation tool, there should be just one central place. I don't care where it goes from there, but my boss can then go right to Outlook and click on my customer folder and see exactly what's been happening.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Microsoft 365 Business has been very steady. One of my pet peeves would probably be that as you get over 15 megs in communication between your clients, it does tend to bottleneck a little bit.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I wouldn't be able to talk to scalability because I work on it as a single user, but I would say that if you and I are communicating back and forth via email and by day five, we've already got five megs of communication going on between us because you've got signatures with pictures and I've got signatures with pictures and it's chewing up tremendous amounts of space. Then it kills the bandwidth. My thought would be, why can't Microsoft Office be as smart as saying, this logo has been represented seven times already in this communication chain, let's just keep the most recent. That would be great. Then as you're sending around version control for documents and you have version two on Monday and you're up to version eight by Thursday, all those versions are still stuck in the email. Why can't Microsoft be smart enough to say, would you like to keep all the previous versions, yes or no? It could eliminate that bottleneck and be a little bit more productive.
How are customer service and technical support?
I have to give support a grade 100. When you call Microsoft, you actually get a Zones employee that says, "Hello, you've reached Microsoft's concierge desk." They outsource that to us. I have to say 100 perfect, they were great.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is a one button set up.
What other advice do I have?
I just came from IBM before I rejoined Zones. They are still on Lotus notes there. I would say Microsoft is always on the cutting edge and I feel every time when I come back to Microsoft, Outlook and all the other tool sets engaged in there, that it has always been a better experience. Absolutely.
On a scale of one to ten, I would probably give Microsoft 365 Business an 8, just because of those things that we spoke about. I spend a lot of hours a week cutting and pasting, when I think it should all be connected somehow.

Product Manager at a computer software company with 201-500 employees
Easy to use, very stable, and offers good collaboration capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "Sharing screens, even on mobile devices, is great."
- "The online and desktop versions should have the same user experience."
What is our primary use case?
It's very useful to share documents with people. You can also make some comments so people can see them and you can do that while you are working on those documents. The main use case is managing the documents and PowerPoint presentations in the company. We also use Excel and there's the possibility of working with more people on one document simultaneously.
What is most valuable?
It's very easy to work and identify with other people.
The solution is great for sharing documents and collaborating in real-time.
Microsoft Teams is a perfect way to connect with other people in order to chat in meetings, share your screen, and do other collaborative tasks.
It's very stable which is good. When you want to connect with someone, everything is always working perfectly.
Sharing screens, even on mobile devices, is great.
The initial installation is easy.
I really like this current version due to the fact that it gives you advice on how to deliver your presentations and some design ideas, which is quite helpful.
What needs improvement?
It would be helpful if the product offered a way to filter out background noise. Sometimes people connect in cafes and it's so loud in the background. If they could find a way to filter that out, so you could hear the speaker, that would be great.
It would be ideal if some applications, such as PowerPoint, were more flexible. The online and desktop versions should have the same user experience.
The purchase process needs to be streamlined. I really struggled just to purchase the solution.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for more than one or two years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability has been good. the product is reliable. there are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. The performance is consistent.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In terms of handling multiple people in a meeting, the scalability seems to be pretty good. Many people can join a meeting and you can still share your screen without issue.
How are customer service and technical support?
I don't really deal with technical support. I usually turn to FAQs and look for answers there. I don't contact anyone directly.
How was the initial setup?
While it was very easy to install it, it was very difficult to purchase it as I was trying to download an account, and then it said that I couldn't do it. Then, they made me download another application that was similar to an authenticator. I did it with my phone number and I couldn't do it straight away. It took me maybe more than one hour just trying to purchase it. In the end, I had to put in a Gmail email address. Then, with that, I did the authentication, and finally, I could put more of my details to prove the purchase. Overall, I didn't really like that part of the experience.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution was difficult to purchase. they put up too many barriers and make the process confusing.
Currently, I have a recurring monthly license.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I did not look at other options before choosing this product.
What other advice do I have?
I've used it here and there, and have recently purchased and downloaded it to my own computer.
As a cloud-based solution, I am always using the latest version.
I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. Mostly, I'm very happy with its capabilities.
I'd recommend it to other users.
