A user-friendly and complete tool, easy to install, and help is available online
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a complete tool."
  • "With such a complete tool, it may be difficult for a beginner to use without help."

What is our primary use case?

You can use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access, which is a database.

You can make frequent presentations to customers, and create invoices.

What is most valuable?

Excel is a very powerful tool. I can create a lot of data in Microsoft Excel and then use it and extract the data in any analytics platform.

It is a complete tool. It gives me every kind of feature that I want. It's quite good.

When you talk about ease of use, it's relative. I have been using Microsoft products for a long time. I have grown with it and the product has grown with me. I feel comfortable. But, for someone with no background in IT that doesn't have the dexterity to play with the IT tools, they may find it difficult to use.

When you get used to it, it's like picking up a paper and a pen and drafting it. You can use many more features. Paper and pen are used to exemplify simplicity.

When using PowerPoint, I want to create a very illustrative presentation. I can draw many pictures globally with several designs. It's flexible. After preparing the presentation, I can preview the form and share it with people.

It's very user-friendly.

I can use this product on five devices. I can use it on my mobile, and I have two laptops. I can access it from any one of my devices, even if I am commuting or in another country, I can access all of my documents.

Microsoft OneNote is also included. I can create my shopping list, or go on a trip, and make all of my notes accessible on all devices.

What needs improvement?

With such a complete tool, it may be difficult for a beginner to use without help.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft 365 Business for between four and five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable product. Most people in our organization use it.

We have approximately 50 users, maybe more.

How are customer service and support?

With all Microsoft products, online help is available.

I have not had the need to contact technical support. I have not had any issues.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was nothing at all. It was no effort.

It was very easy and very comfortable to complete.

Microsoft 365 has multiple packages. I use the auxiliary version. We can deploy all of them in 10 to 15 minutes maximum, but it depends on the internet speed as well.

What about the implementation team?

I completed the deployment and implementation myself. It doesn't require any help.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It could be a little less expensive.

What other advice do I have?

You have the option of 1TB of storage per user, or you can keep it on your desktop or laptop.

I can create documents in Microsoft Office and fill them in PDF. I use Adobe quite extensively. Between them, I don't need anything.

There is no other alternative, except maybe Google.

Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and I recommend it to others.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Reasonably priced with an excellent suite of apps that integrate well together
Pros and Cons
  • "Since the pandemic hit us, it has helped a lot with the need to work remotely. We can share live files, work on the same document, we can live chat, and even create multiple channels within Teams where the files can be shared and worked on by specific users."
  • "One thing we did not like, about Excel particularly, is that it hangs a lot. It hangs a lot compared to Google Sheets."

What is most valuable?

I appreciate how everything is totally integrated. I can switch from Excel and Word to PowerPoint or Outlook. Outlook and the Calendar are completely integrated as well. It used to have Skype, however, now we have Teams, which integrates nicely with everything. We can check our meetings and have everything set up right in our calendar. It's all very convenient in terms of being able to access and use it.

The OneDrive is very good. Since the pandemic hit us, it has helped a lot with the need to work remotely. We can share live files, work on the same document, we can live chat, and even create multiple channels within Teams where the files can be shared and worked on by specific users. That's quite helpful.

The pricing is competitive.

What needs improvement?

One thing we did not like, about Excel particularly, is that it hangs a lot. It hangs a lot compared to Google Sheets.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for close to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is mostly stable. That said, Excel is very slow whenever the data is quite large compared to what we use. With small data, it works fine. With a small set of records, it's not a problem. However, whenever the records are a large number - even if it's 5000 - then it hangs a lot.

How are customer service and support?

I never faced such challenges that I had to reach out to technical support. Sometimes when there are small challenges, I just Google the issue and resolve it myself. Otherwise, I've never felt a need to connect with the support team.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I also am familiar with Google apps, such as Google Sheets, and the whole G-Suite for business.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The prices are very competitive.

What other advice do I have?

I'm a customer and an end-user.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. For the most part, it works perfectly fine for me.

I'd recommend basic usage to other customers. Compared to other individual collaboration apps such as Zoom Meetings or Cisco WebEx, it's more complete. 365 as a whole suite is definitely better as you've got all the office requirements solved by one software solution. I'll definitely recommend Microsoft Office to others.

Easy to set up with good collaboration capabilities and reliable stability
Pros and Cons
  • "The scalability is great."
  • "It could be flexible in terms of working with other cloud-based solutions."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is actually one suite. Azure and Intune, everything comes together. Once you have Microsoft 365, it is one platform and its different products are all under one umbrella. We use SharePoint, Word, Excel, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams - basically everything.

What is most valuable?

The product makes it easy to collaborate once all the employees are under one domain. Everyone can easily collaborate and share work-related information on the Cloud and all documents are shareable.

The storage is much easier. Let's say that you are part of one company. You have that security with the company and you can easily share within Microsoft Teams and OneDrive. It's really easy now to collaborate, store, and share everything.

The solution is very stable.

The scalability is great.

The installation process is pretty straightforward.

What needs improvement?

I don't have any issues with the product or its offering. There aren't any missing features. I've enjoyed working with it.

It could be flexible in terms of working with other cloud-based solutions.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for one year at this point. It hasn't been that long just yet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the product is very good. There are no crashes. It doesn't freeze. We don't deal with bugs or glitches. It's reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales well. If you need to expand it, as a company, you can.

We have about 1200 people using the solution at this time.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support has been very helpful and responsive. They are good. We are happy with the level of service we get.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously, we used Microsoft Office 2016.

How was the initial setup?

The implementation was straightforward. It was not overly complex. From Intune, we had the option to deploy this product to all of the computers in the company. It was not very difficult as InTune provided this option for the deployment of Office 365 applications. You can just select whatever you want - Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, Teams, et cetera. It was very simple.

We have between 15 to 20 technical personnel in our organization that can handle deployment and maintenance tasks for this solution.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation myself. I did not need the assistance of any consultants or integrators. It was all handled in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I like that the licensing is user-based.

The solution comes as one full suite that, once you buy it Microsoft 365, delivers everything you need under that license. You just have to select how many users will be using it. Once that happens, you pay for it yearly.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. It's been a great solution so far.

I would recommend the solution to others.

Easy to use but integration could be more seamless
Pros and Cons
  • "Another nice thing is that Microsoft has infrastructure within our borders. From a GDPR point of view, our data needs to reside within South Africa's borders, and they've got data centers here. That helps because our government has stringent regulations that say the data we can't store data in the cloud outside of our borders."
  • "365 Business' workflow should be better integrated into our current ERP systems. We are running two different ERP systems that are integrated, so it would make sense in the future to have those systems integrated into a content management workflow system."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use 365 for financial functions, like invoices, PODs, purchase orders, and customer contracts.

What is most valuable?

At this stage, we're getting the most value out of Exchange, Teams, OneDrive, and some portions of SharePoint. Another nice thing is that Microsoft has infrastructure within our borders. From a GDPR point of view, our data needs to reside within South Africa's borders, and they've got data centers here. That helps because our government has stringent regulations that say the data we can't store data in the cloud outside of our borders.

What needs improvement?

365 Business' workflow should be better integrated into our current ERP systems. We are running two different ERP systems that are integrated, so it would make sense in the future to have those systems integrated into a content management workflow system. As it is, 365 is extremely open for integration, but it could be more seamless. Also, from an administrative point of view, it's a bit scattered. A more centralized user environment would be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

We only started rolling 365 Business out in May last year from the local exchange and migrating everything to it. Due to the pandemic, it just made sense. So, I think most other companies did the same thing. In the beginning, my company was primarily interested in the email aspects of 365, but I showed them the potential of SharePoint as well. I gave them a demonstration, and now they're more using OneDrive than SharePoint itself.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have no complaints about 365's stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

365 Business is easy to scale based on my experience. But it also depends on which portion—which modules— you want to scale. Adding normal users on Exchange is fairly straightforward. But when it comes to databases, scaling up can become quite complex.

How are customer service and support?

I would say that Microsoft's support is fairly good. I would rate it about six out 10.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of 365 is relatively straightforward. However, because we have about 120 employees, total deployment takes two or three days, including migrating historical email data. But, we were able to handle it all ourselves. And from a maintenance point of view, it's reasonably stable. It's just typical user issues, like password resets. We don't have any problems with space or anything at this stage.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of 365 Business is highly competitive, especially if you compare it to standalone document and content management systems. Obviously, that excludes Exchange and all of that. But if you compare it to other similar products—which you can't really compare it to—I think it's very competitive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate 365 Business seven out of 10. I would definitely recommend it. It's easy to use from a user's point of view. It's easy to set up and add users.

Intuitive, easy to use, and simple to setup
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is easy to implement and deploy."
  • "There are a lot of modules, for example, between Teams and SharePoint, that could be more transparent."

What is our primary use case?

I use a variety of different applications within the solution. For example, I use Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

The solution is really very easy to use. You don't need any real training to know how to use it. It's intuitive and what you don't know, you can search everything yourself.

If you have a little bit of experience in older versions, you can easily catch up. The user interface is great.

The initial setup is easy to implement and deploy.

The pricing seems to be reasonable.

What needs improvement?

There are a lot of modules, for example, between Teams and SharePoint, that could be more transparent. Many users aren't too sure of the difference between many Microsoft tools or how to use them together.

While the many tools on offer come as one package, the manager who deployed everything doesn't really know the differences or how to use each individual app correctly. This requires an internet search for demos that can lay out how best to use, for example, Sharepoint, or Teams.

There needs to be more documentation to make the usage clear. We need more transparency on things like in which conditions we can use Teams and how we can connect that app with Sharepoint, and things like that.

It's difficult, sometimes, when we deal with other teams or organizations that aren't using Microsoft Teams. When they don't have the same systems, it makes it difficult to communicate with everyone.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the solution six years ago. I've used it for a while. That said, my most recent company, deployed the solution two years ago.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 9,000 users on the solution currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive Microsoft technical support is. I don't deal with them directly. We have support within our company that is dedicated to problem-solving. When we have any problems, we have communication lines within our company. I don't know how they communicate with Microsoft when they need to.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't previously use a different solution. We've always used Microsoft.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is pretty easy to install. We have an operations team that can handle it. My understanding is that the actual implementation and deployment did not take very long at all.

What about the implementation team?

We were able to handle it via our own internal teams. We didn't need an integrator or consultant.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I can't speak to the exact cost of the solution, however, the pricing seems to be fine.

What other advice do I have?

We're customers and end-users.

I'd rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations. We've been pretty happy with its capabilities.

Good performance, user-friendly, and suitable for every organization
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to use and user-friendly. Its performance is also good."
  • "Their support could be improved. They should pick the right people who are capable of resolving technical issues."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for many things such as productivity, collaboration, document management system, and apps development. They have a suite of applications.

What is most valuable?

It is easy to use and user-friendly. Its performance is also good.

What needs improvement?

Their support should be improved. They should pick the right people who are capable of resolving technical issues.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. In my company, we have up to 60 user accounts.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their support should be improved. They should have people who understand what you want and are capable of resolving the issues.

How was the initial setup?

The installation depends on the person who is deploying. You must have the required skills. If you don't have, you should leverage people who have the required skill. It is not a Microsoft issue. They provide the tools and documentation for the installation.

It doesn't take much time. You get the domain name ready and prepare for the subscription or the plan that you want. Microsoft will activate it quickly for you.

What about the implementation team?

We did it ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is basically software as a service. So, you pay for the software subscription. The price is based on the plan you choose. You can also leverage the help of cloud service providers.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others. It is good and suitable for every organization. You have a complete suite that enables you to automate your business processes and be productive.

I would rate Microsoft 365 Business a 10 out of 10.

Stable, easy to access, and easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has been quite stable."
  • "Occasionally, it does go down, however, for the most part, it's fine."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for access to Outlook and One Drive.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable aspect is that it is one the cloud and we can access it from there, which allows us access from anywhere.

The solution has been quite stable.

The solution has been very easy to use overall.

What needs improvement?

We haven't really had any issues with the solution.

Occasionally, it does go down, however, for the most part, it's fine.

The process should be a bit more seamless.

For how long have I used the solution?

In general, I've been using the solution for ten years or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is fine, although we have lost connectivity in the past. We just have to restart it and find that it is pretty easy to restart everything.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't dealt with technical support in the past. I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.

However, if I run into any issues, I will often go to Google or the Microsoft website. I find it's pretty easy to find answers to the questions I have online, and therefore do not really need technical support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We do need to pay a licensing fee, however, I'm unsure as to what the exact cost is or if the fees are paid monthly or annually.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. If the process was a bit more seamless, I'd give it a perfect score. However, for the most part, I'm happy with the capabilities.

Easy to scale, with excellent technical support and good stability
Pros and Cons
  • "With Power BI and Power Applications you can do a lot of our automation within IT. It makes everything much quicker."
  • "The initial setup is slightly complex."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for cooperation between employees and core team operations. It's the most important use case for us.

We use it for data exchange and data storage under One Drive, for example.

What is most valuable?

The automation capabilities on offer are very good. With Power BI and Power Applications you can do a lot of our automation within IT. It makes everything much quicker.

The product allows for a good overview of our data.

The stability has been very good so far.

As a software as a service model, it is very easy to scale as required.

Technical support is quite helpful and very responsive.

What needs improvement?

The cost could be a bit better.

Policy integration could be improved in the current infrastructure and the current applications.

The initial setup is slightly complex.

There could be better integration capabilities. This could be simplified. There are lots of applications that could potentially be integrated if only the capabilities were there to do so.

In general, we don't feel that there are any missing features per se. They do have a very good offering of applications.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about three or so years. It's been a while at this point.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution has been very stable. We haven't had issues with bugs or glitches. I haven't found that it crashes or freezes. It's pretty reliable in terms of its performance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have about 8,000 users on the solution currently. It has been easy to scale for us. We haven't had any problems in that regard. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so with relative ease. It's a software as a service model, which makes it easy to scale up or down.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support has been very good. They are very skillful people, and they really do try to help when you have queries. We've been very happy with the level of services we receive. They are very responsive.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was pretty complex. There were a lot of interfaces to have a look at, and a lot of people were involved. Each had its own ideas as to how to best handle things. To bring everyone together and focused on one point was a challenge.

The deployment process took about a year.

The maintenance isn't too bad. There are just regular checkups needed here or there. It's not intensive.

What about the implementation team?

We had assistance from the vendor. They were very helpful in terms of deploying the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is average, however, every product is expensive. We'd like it to be less, of course.

There aren't operational costs over and above the licensing, however, there are a few costs here and there that are extra - such as implementation costs and some special requirement costs.

What other advice do I have?

We are just a customer and an end-user. We don't have a business relationship with Microsoft.

We use universal updates. The solution is typically on the latest version. The cloud deployment is constantly automatically updated.

I would advise potential new users to prepare carefully on the business side. It's not just the technical implementation. It's how it will be used for business. There needs to be a plan in place. The most challenging part is simply making the business as a whole - including end-users - comfortable with the product.

I would rate the solution at an eight out of ten.
