It streamlined our project management and resource management process.
I think the functionality with the reporting capability can be improved and I know there's a new version of KeyedIn coming out. I haven't had the opportunity yet to look at the new version, but I would say that reporting is actually one are for improvement. The way their functionality is set could be improved because, basically, what it does is: you can pull a resourcing report and you can pull a financial report, and it seems like they pull from different databases. You're not always able to compile all the data into one report. You have to pull separate reports to look at different data. That's one thing that I found that has been kind of hard with KeyedIn, because you can't view all the data you want into one report. It's not that flexible. You have to work with two separate reports in order to come to look at the data that you want. I would say that's one area for improvement: You're just not able to filter all the same data into one report. I'm also looking for integration here. Integration with, for example, a BI platform. We're implementing a BI platform here. I know that in KeyedIn, there's no real data connector that connects straight – although you can still connect via API - but KeyedIn does not have a data connector right now. I talk to the rep each week and that's something that I think would be a big win for KeyedIn. If it had a data connector already, it would be easier to integrate with other platforms.

Enables effective workload monitoring and data insights with powerful features
Microsoft Project Server is quite a powerful tool and offers a good way of seeing dependencies and interactions, along with baselines. The resource management feature allows us to monitor workload and resource load effectively. Additionally, the dashboards are amazing for data crunching and provide a project focus with upcoming predictions, including burn-up and burn-down charts.

"The solution's ease of use is its most valuable aspect."
"From my point of view, there are many features that are valuable for portfolio management, such as linking between company strategy and each project, resource management, overview of portfolio projects and their separate parameters for resources, budgeting and forecasting perspectives."
"The solution has lots of features, and they are used by various people; they are all useful and important, and it's a stable, reliable product."
"One notable positive aspect is its effective project-tracking capabilities."
"The technical support for Microsoft Project Server and the support is very good. Microsoft support is working very well."
"The stability of the 2019 version is quite good."
"Microsoft Project Server has improved our organization by providing visibility of all project portfolios in one place."

Cons

"It was more complicated than it needed to be, but with a KeyedIn implementation manager it was not an issue."
"I would say that reporting is actually one area for improvement. You're just not able to filter all the same data into one report."
"I don't think it's very scalable. It's not that easy to navigate or scale up and down according to your needs."
"The solution should be made more collaborative."
"It has to be more user-friendly. For instance, there should be some assistance, like when you go to certain sites, people pop up and say, "Can we help you? What are you looking for?" It's not interactive enough."
"It would be useful if the solution allowed us to share files or project schedules."
"It's very expensive to scale out."
"I think they need more flexibility with licensing, because there are preconceived ideas that don't allow as much flexibility with the various licenses."
"There are more user-friendly products on the market that I would suggest using in preference to this one."
"We think that calculations are not working correctly, and there is a need to enter data a couple of times in order to give the correct calculations."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The technical assistance is expensive but the solution is an open source software."
"It is an inexpensive product."
"I'm not quite sure about the licensing costs. We're probably paying somewhere in the neighborhood of about 80,000 to 90,000 a year for our current on-prem because we handle our own licensing. As far as Project Online is concerned, we're still trying to get a good handle on that. It looks like it is going to be in a neighborhood of about 120,000 to 150,000 a year, but we're getting a lot more capability out of it."
"Microsoft Project Server is relatively cheaper than other products."
"We pay an annual licensing fee for the solution."
"I rate the pricing a one out of ten because the price is way too high."
"The licensing was procured before my involvement."
"There are some payments related to the licensing cost of Microsoft Project Server."
