IT Director at a manufacturing company with 10,001+ employees
Consistent optimization of production and efficient procurement processes improve operational effectiveness
I am working as an IT Director at Istituto De Angeli, which is a company of Fareva. FAREVA is a leading global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, makeup, and home and industrial care products. I have worked with the traceability and audit features in Infor LX, including the electronic signature module, which is essential in the pharmaceutical industry. The electronic signature is a key component of compliance for our ERP. This is crucial for periodic inspections we receive from authorities, including European authorities, Italian AIFA, USA FDA and other Pharma Agencies and Ministry world wide. On a scale of 1-10, I rate Infor LX a 9.

Senior Sales Support Supervisor at a manufacturing company with 501-1,000 employees
Has required ongoing support and modernization but effectively manages core operations and complex workflows
Microsoft Dynamics AX is a very strong ERP system, applicable for customizations to help companies and organizations streamline their processes. The specific feature I find most valuable about Microsoft Dynamics AX is the applicable permissions. There are many levels of security and permissions for each user to monitor and access specific data relative to their functions. Additionally, the linkage and transition between exploring and moving from window to window, from function to function is valuable. The impact of Microsoft Dynamics AX on managing financial processes is significant. It's a very important element for financial departments as it represents all transactions, references, and records. The adjustments and availability to create more than one virtual company allow large companies, which combined represent one group of companies, to connect and streamline their financials and operations.

Cons

"The interface needs enhancement, as I am still using outdated screens. I would benefit from a more integrated interface."
"The user interface of Infor LX needs significant enhancement to be more user-friendly."
"From a supporting point of view, Infor LX is not quite what I see with SAP and other areas."
"It's based on AS/400 or Power i, a robust technology and platform. However, it is harder to manage admin most of the time."
"Microsoft Dynamics AX can improve by having a more modern user interface. It should be more modular and dynamic. Additionally, the solution could be easier to connect with APIs with other technologies."
"There is also slowness in database backup."
"The tool's setup phase and pricing are areas with certain concerns where improvements are required."
"There should be the capability for users to enhance the application by using a low-code or no-code product from the Microsoft family."

"The manufacturing module in GP is quite basic, and those who require more advanced manufacturing capabilities often turn to third-party modules or tools."
"If I had to add something in the next release, it would probably be a mobile application for a sister application of Dynamics 365; not the ERP but the Dynamics 365 HR solution. It would definitely help if we could have Microsoft or a Microsoft partner introduce a mobile application for it."
"There is a gap for improvement in support. Microsoft support can be very hard to reach and often does not provide proper support for general issues, with responses sometimes being too detailed and not addressing the core issues quickly, which leads me to sometimes solve problems myself."

"The price of the solution is high."
