Enables management of multiple operating systems with a single license
The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Great features with very good function management
Our customers are pretty happy with the product. It uploads files, creates a secure virtual compartment for corporate applications. If it's on-prem, you can use it with mobile phones or tablets that don't have access to the internet using intranet with wireless access points. That's a big plus for government institutions as it enables the management of a large fleet of devices without any outside interference. That is the most significant advantage.

Has improved mobile device management through features such as geofencing, firmware upgrades, and centralized control
One of the best features of SOTI MobiControl is that it is one of the oldest MDM solutions available. There are many features such as geofencing with map integration, APK upgrade, firmware upgrade, and it provides battery status, device status, and more. SOTI MobiControl impacts organizations positively because customers want an application MDM solution for managing their mobile devices from a central control. They have given good feedback and were happy with the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provides control over all mobile devices that are being connected to the corporate network."
"Microsoft Intune is brilliant for scalability and is excellent for scaling purposes."
"Microsoft Intune has definitely reduced management burdens."
"It is user-friendly, and the performance is also good. It is a convenient product"
"The biggest benefit for me in Microsoft Intune is control; I can control my users and what they can do and enforce the policies that I want to enforce, and it is a great tool to control and put structure to take the organization to the place I want to take it."
"For Windows services, there are multiple options within Intune to modernize it to be more internet-facing and dynamic."
"Intune has automated the deployment of patches and applications, which is more efficient and easier. It allows us to deploy applications, packages, Windows updates, and security updates like BitLocker encryption more efficiently and easily."
"The mobile application management, MAM, is the most useful aspect of the solution."
"Can manage a large fleet of devices without any outside interference."
"The most valuable feature is the fact that I can manage my devices remotely."
"One of the most valuable features is the ease of moving items from one configuration to another; it's a Windows-like setup. Also, the admin console is very easy to manage and to move through."
"SOTI MobiControl is the right solution for customers who want a reliable and low-cost MDM solution."
"The remote control we have helps us a lot."
"All features are useful. It is useful for preventing the use of unauthorized software on corporate-owned devices. It provides an option to lock the devices for unauthorized software. The devices can only be used under the supervision of the device manager."
"The most valuable features of the solution are containerization and app control."
"It gives us the ability to manage our mobile fleets and push out updates quickly for all of our internal applications to keep the business running. We can push an app update out in minutes..."
"The most valuable features are visibility and remote access."

Cons

"It would really be helpful to have the option to manage server operating systems as well, like Windows Server, at least. That way, we could scrap the use of SCCM, which requires a lot of on-premises infrastructure."
"Regarding mobile devices, Intune is good, but there are other services that I would say are ahead of Intune from an administration and reporting point of view."
"Applying security recommendations can be difficult in Microsoft Intune. Sometimes, they give you recommendations, but you need a different server to manage the pieces, or you have to go to each device individually. However, it has been improving. Before, there were certain policies you could not implement directly in Intune, but now I see progress. I would like to see more improvement in policy management, similar to how we used group policies on-premises."
"The time we have to wait to deploy policies has room for improvement."
"We face multiple scenarios where IT decision-makers request specific policy implementations, however, due to product limitations, we cannot fulfill these requests."
"I switched away from Microsoft Intune because it cannot manage the MacBook very well."
"Historically, Group Policy has simplified the management of various items, such as printer and drive mappings and while Intune offers workarounds, it lacks native support for these functionalities."
"Enrollment into the Microsoft Intune service can still get easier, especially for legacy-managed systems, such as how we get it from a GPO or an SCCM configuration into Intune."
"Lacks a factory reset feature."
"The previous version, for example, had the networking signal and that feature was great. When we were troubleshooting, we could find the level of the network I/O. If the worker was working in a corner of the warehouse where the signal was not as strong as in another part of the warehouse, we could tell, "Just move a little and you will have coverage for your device." That was great. I don't know why they removed it from the newer version."
"They have legacy design architecture, and sometimes the support isn't helpful."
"SOTI MobiControl could improve by being more user-friendly."
"They could organize the software a little bit better, where you access things on the console. It seems like I have to click in three different places in order to get it to go to one area. I should be able to access pretty much any point of the server, whatever I need to touch, from a panel, without having to go click on a menu, then click on the profiles, then click over on Server and go back up to the top and click on the type of device that I have, just to get my applications to show."
"I wish that I had some more tutorials and educational resources on how to use the product."
"One issue is that if someone is using an Apple device and they're on the SIM card for data, it does not push the SOTI management system through immediately. It only works when you have it on WiFi. That's something I've noticed as we're troubleshooting and deploying devices into the field."
"We're deploying an application upgrade. We can't do more than three or four devices at once, and we don't know if the device actually received the upgrade. There's no indicator saying it's 100 percent complete until everything is done. Let's say I work East to West. I work on the East Coast and I want to confirm it was done with the upgrades in that region. I wouldn't know until I actually went into it. There's no indicator telling me that it's complete."
"There is room for improvement when it comes to the ability to customize devices and choosing what information goes onto them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs we leave up to the customer and these vary from one to another."
"We spend a lot of money on Intune licensing, and some of our users have to be double licensed just because of how our dev and corporate environments are segmented."
"Based on the features that it gives, it is cost-efficient. It is not necessarily on the expensive side of the scale. It provides a hefty number of features that any organization would want. It is in a good price range."
"It's a bit expensive from a licensing perspective, especially as we look to have organizations with tenants across the globe."
"The clients pay for a license and each can have a different type of license, such as an E3 or E5."
"I am not that aware of the pricing, but as compared to other MDM solutions, Microsoft is providing a lot of things at the organizational level. So, it is quite reasonable as compared to other MDM solutions."
"It's a part of Microsoft 365 and E5 licenses. Microsoft's strategy of making every feature in Microsoft Intune paid needs optimization. Remote control is one of the basic features, not a luxury feature, yet we must pay for it. I"
"We use Defender ATP and E5 licenses."
Information not available
"You need to secure a license on a per-device basis."
"There are additional costs if you want to use extra features."
"It is an expensive product."
"The price of this solution is high when you compare it with Microsoft Intune. This is mainly because Microsoft Intune is included with some packages, such as Microsoft Office 365. It makes it difficult to sell SOTI MobiControl because of the pricing against Microsoft Intune."
"The product is less expensive than one of its competitors."
"SOTI MobiControl is a cheap solution."
"Pricing is okay, but when you buy your renewal of licenses - at the end of the period or the year - if you have a lot of devices, obviously, it's going to increase. In the end, it's kind of expensive."
"The price is average. SOTI manages the price according to the type of client they have. I would rate the cost as five out of ten."
