A team collaboration application mainly to communicate with other office users, send messages and with good chat system
Pros and Cons
  • "I find the chat and messaging system in Microsoft Teams the most valuable for productivity. We replaced Zoom and other video conferencing tools with Teams for internal and external video calls. Teams is now our standard tool for communication, handling both audio and video conference calls."
  • "Everything is running smoothly, and I’m still exploring more features. As for improvements, I think it could be more user-friendly and integrate better with third-party software, like Zoom and other video conferencing tools."

What is our primary use case?

I use Microsoft Teams mainly to communicate with other office users, send messages, and collaborate on files. We’re trying to create a group in Teams to use as a central database for posting files. I also use the calendar to coordinate schedules so everyone knows what’s happening. Teams are also used for video and audio calls and setting up meetings with both internal and external users.

What is most valuable?

I find the chat and messaging system in Microsoft Teams the most valuable for productivity. We replaced Zoom and other video conferencing tools with Teams for internal and external video calls. Teams is now our standard tool for communication, handling both audio and video conference calls.

What needs improvement?

Everything is running smoothly, and I’m still exploring more features. As for improvements, I think it could be more user-friendly and integrate better with third-party software, like Zoom and other video conferencing tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for the past three to four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Regarding stability, Teams is very stable. It works well both on my mobile phone and desktop application. I’d rate its stability as a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is easy to scale. For many users, it’s scalable, and I’d rate it a nine out of ten for scalability. We have around a hundred to a hundred fifty users in our company.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Compared to Zoom, Microsoft Teams is advantageous because it integrates seamlessly withMicrosoft Office and Microsoft 365, which we already use. It works well with our Microsoft 365 user accounts and email, making it a standard Microsoft product in our software setup.

How was the initial setup?

The old Teams version will expire soon, so we’re downloading the new version to install it properly. Sometimes, it gives an error that we must download an app from the Microsoft Store to continue the installation. Once we update the app, we can continue installing the new Microsoft Teams. For deployment, it takes around five minutes to start using the solution.

For the setup experience, I would rate it an eight out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I’m unsure about the exact cost, but I believe it’s reasonable. Using Teams for collaboration, video conferencing, and messaging helps save costs, especially for communicating with third-party companies worldwide.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams might integrate AI features in the future. I recommend using Microsoft Teams because it’s a popular collaboration tool among companies, especially those using Microsoft products. It is a standard tool for collaboration and communication within and outside the company.

For my overall rating of Microsoft Teams, I’d give it a nine out of ten.

Offers seamless integration capabilities to users
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool's integration capabilities are seamless."
  • "The whiteboarding area in the tool has certain shortcomings where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution in my company for virtual meetings and collaborations.

How has it helped my organization?

The benefits derived from the use of the product revolve around the fact that it offers better collaboration functionalities and communication features.

What needs improvement?

I haven't seen any issues. The whiteboarding area in the tool has certain shortcomings where improvements are required. Whiteboarding needs to be improved in Microsoft Teams compared to other tools like Zoom, which is way better.

I have issues with the costs associated with the tool, making it an area where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for more than five years. I am an end user of the solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Around 50 people in my company use the product.

The product is used on a daily basis in my company since we need to use the tool's chat functionality.

How are customer service and support?

My company does not get direct support from Microsoft since we are the end users of the solution, but we do get support from the partners.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Zoom is better than Microsoft Teams. Zoom is kind of more flexible and complex than Microsoft Teams. I can say Zoom has more control. We are able to control the virtual meetings in a simpler manner than Microsoft Teams, even when conducting webinars. Many areas are simpler in Zoom compared to Microsoft Teams.

My company has stopped using Zoom since we have more Microsoft Teams licenses.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase is very easy. You just need to install the application and log in with your credentials, which is very easy.

The solution is deployed on the cloud version.

The solution can be deployed in a few minutes.

What about the implementation team?

The solution can be deployed with the help of the company's in-house members.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of the product is okay. The challenge with Microsoft's licensing model is that the prices are on the higher side, especially for companies that have more users where spending a lot on licenses may be required. The cost is high in general.

What other advice do I have?

The tool improves team collaboration with the help of a planner and chat option.

The tool's integration capabilities are seamless. For example, the tool can be integrated with the application.

The product helps support a hybrid work environment in our company, especially for remote teams.

My company has not ventured into the AI side associated with Microsoft Teams.

I recommend the product to others who plan to use it.

The product is simple to use, and it has a very low learning curve while offering overall stability.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

A good solution for meetings, collaborations, and file sharing, but extracting the older version of a file takes time
Pros and Cons
  • "You can ping, chat, and call someone, and at the same time, on the next tab, you can see all the documents related to what someone is referring to."
  • "Sometimes, extracting the older version of a file takes a few minutes."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for meetings, collaborations, and file sharing.

How has it helped my organization?

Previously, we used to share files in SharePoint, and then someone had to pull it out, make changes, and upload it back. We used to miss those changes, and it remained on its local laptops. The best thing is that anyone can make changes to the files on Microsoft Teams. It auto-saves whatever we have done, and we can see the version within Microsoft Teams.

The basic need for any project is mostly team-specific content. Right now, if I open up my teams, I can see I have 10 to 12 different projects going on parallelly. I can easily go to Microsoft Teams and then find out what is happening where. Even though someone told me that I made some changes, I can go to Microsoft Teams and find out what changes are there. The solution helps us save time by not making us wait for someone to send an email or upload to SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams has not just one but multiple valuable features. It is very easy to collaborate. You can ping, chat, and call someone, and at the same time, on the next tab, you can see all the documents related to what someone is referring to. You can do these two things in the same place without switching windows. These two things make things faster in Microsoft Teams.

What needs improvement?

I have to do multiple tricks before I can find out the history of a given file. Sometimes, extracting the older version of a file takes a few minutes. These are the two things that I was a little bit uncomfortable with, and it took some time for me to do them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for many years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't use Microsoft Teams very much, but I have never faced stability issues with the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Thousands of people are using Microsoft Teams in our organization. I have had approximately 10 to 20 people in one Microsoft Teams call.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is a nice product, and we have been using it for some time. It's integrated with SharePoint for content management. You can have multiple repositories simultaneously and use the versioning from Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is making our life much easier as compared to sharing and uploading into a SharePoint folder. If you want to edit documents, you can open them in Microsoft Teams apps instead of a browser.

Zoom is just a portal to connect, chat, and conduct meetings. However, Microsoft Teams provides much more flexibility with additional functionalities for your files, product tracking, and issue tracking. Zoom doesn't have all these additional features. Microsoft Teams also gives me easy access to my calendar in case I integrate it with my Outlook, and I can see everything in the solution.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a seven out of ten.

A scalable solution that has the ability to store all documents in one place
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is stable."
  • "They should allow switching between windows in a Teams meeting."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to conduct meetings with our team and customers. We also use it to create a group and store various documents so everyone can access them.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature is its ability to store all the documents in one place.

What needs improvement?

They should allow switching between windows in a Teams meeting.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for seven to eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. I've never had an issue. I rate its stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is quite a scalable solution because we have over 1,500 employees using it. I rate its scalability an eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Skype for Business. Later, I switched to Microsoft Teams because it is a much-improved tool comparatively. Skype has a calling and chatting interface. Microsoft Teams has more of a collaborative interface. From that perspective, Microsoft Teams is the add-on.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is straightforward as it is easy to use. I rate the process a nine out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution to others. Compared to other collaborative tools, Microsoft Teams is more beneficial because it allows you to collaborate and share key documents in one repository, keep a group that can chat about a project, and discusses along with all the documentation in one place. Additionally, it has all the integration points if I need to access a ticket about Microsoft CRM or a ticket about Salesforce CRM.

I rate it a nine out of ten.

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Great for internal communications, available on mobile and PC, and easy to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long."
  • "The desktop and mobile apps are quite different."

What is our primary use case?

Teams is mostly for internal purposes. We use it to communicate between our company with colleagues. Instead of sending emails all the time, we have Teams just to send documents or communicate for anything, even creating groups.

What is most valuable?

It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long.

You can either use it on your phone or on your PC.

You can make phone and video calls.

It makes it easy to communicate with colleagues.

What needs improvement?

One time the product was basically freezing. I couldn't send a message to my colleague for some reason. I had to restart the PC or restart my phone for some reason. I don't know why it was buggy. Maybe it was overloaded or something.

The desktop and mobile apps are quite different. They should work to make both virtually the same.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have had an issue in the past with it being buggy and freezing. I had to restart my devices to get it going again.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Everybody in our organization uses the solution. It’s on every PC in the company. It’s, give or take, a bit less than 100 people.

How are customer service and support?

Usually, I contact my IT team to share any issues. I haven't used the support from Microsoft Teams. Usually, it doesn't have that many issues. It's just straightforward.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I’ve also used Slack.

Teams can be used as an internal tool, whereas Slack might be considered more public. We are able to share internal documentation more effectively with Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is effortless and straightforward. It’s not complex at all.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't know how much it costs. That’s not an area I am involved in.

What other advice do I have?

I’m not sure which version of the solution we’re using.

It’s good to use it internally with colleagues. You do not have to share anything with external organizations. It gives you basically the advantage of not having any external partners or anything. It's just for internal purposes with nothing to communicate with other partners. It’s a great internal tool.

I’d rate the solution nine out of ten.

Offers high performance and is useful for communication and meeting purposes
Pros and Cons
  • "Its feature that allows for meetings is very good. Also, the solution's performance has been good, and there have been no issues. I rate the performance of the solution a ten out of ten."
  • "The tool lacks AI. We will require AI in the solution to be able to integrate with all other tools."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams in our company for so many things, including Outlook and Excel.

What is most valuable?

All the features of the tool are good. Its feature that allows for meetings is very good. The solution's performance has also been good, and there have been no issues. I rate the performance of the solution a ten out of ten.

What needs improvement?

The tool lacks AI. We will require AI in the solution to be able to integrate with all other tools. In short, I would like to see AI integrations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for almost ten or twenty years. I am using the solution's latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Around 2,000 employees in my company are using it.

The solution is used regularly.

How was the initial setup?

The IT team does the setup, so I don't know the complexity of that.

The time taken to deploy the solution is not more than five to ten minutes.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

For deployment and maintenance, we need five people, of which two to three are managers and three or four are associates.

What was our ROI?

I haven't experienced any ROI using the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a need to pay for the licensing, but I am not sure about the amount, though I know that the payments are made on a yearly basis.

It is not an expensive solution.

There are no extra costs in addition to the standard licensing.

What other advice do I have?

It is the best solution for communication. You can see everything, including whatever you are communicating with employees. Whenever you want to have a meeting, it's very quick.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

The integration of apps makes the solution very slow, but it is much more stable than other solutions
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is much more stable than other solutions like Skype for Business."
  • "Adding and integrating more apps like SharePoint on Microsoft Teams is making the solution very slow."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for team meetings, collaborations, and data management. We have a SharePoint that we manage through Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is used to collaborate, talk with your colleagues and make them understand or share quick files like you do on Whatsapp.

What is most valuable?

I used Skype for Business earlier, but it was unstable because we could not share files, and it used to hang a lot. Microsoft Teams is much more stable than other solutions like Skype for Business. However, due to its application size, Microsoft Teams becomes very heavy and consumes most of the RAM and operating system. I don't use the Microsoft Teams application because it consumes a lot of power due to its big heavy size.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams' application should be very lightweight. If you host a meeting on Microsoft Teams and check your system resources, you will find that the solution consumes approximately 600 to 700 MB of RAM. On the other hand, Zoom hardly uses 50 to 60 MB of RAM. The agent utilization of the resources with Microsoft Teams on the system is very high compared to other platforms giving the same feature.

Adding and integrating more apps like SharePoint on Microsoft Teams is making the solution very slow. Initially, Microsoft Teams was much faster when I worked on it as a user. However, with time, it became so slow that I couldn't use it much and decided to use it on the web. The web version of Microsoft Teams is much faster than the application, and that's the thing. There are multiple forums like SharePoint where you can integrate and store many applications, but storing on Microsoft Teams is making it very, very, very slow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for four to five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is not at all a stable product for me. The solution works if you're not doing anything other than chatting. However, opening several tabs in Microsoft Teams and trying to search for things is really slow. I rate Microsoft Teams four or four and a half out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In my current organization, approximately 4,000 people are using Microsoft Teams. In my previous organization, 1,80,000 people were using the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Microsoft Teams is very, very easy. The solution is available offline and online. You can install it through the Microsoft Store or download the EXE file. You need to sign in and do the installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams comes free if you're using it in an organization. If you are using the solution only for chatting or creating something on SharePoint, it's free. However, there are some services that you can integrate with Microsoft Teams at a cost.

What other advice do I have?

I use the on-cloud version of Microsoft Teams. Compared to Microsoft Teams, no other product has a similar scale that can help. People have tried using Yammer or other internal tools to enhance productivity, but there's no one in the competition currently. Even if I say that I would not suggest or recommend Microsoft Teams to other users, I don't have any alternative for them.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a five out of ten.

Beneficial calendar invites, high performance, and plenty of features
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is the ability to create Google calendar invites. When I click on that option to create an invite, it will go straight to Google in my web browser, and it creates a meeting folder. I'm able to share it with the customers. I've not seen that option in Zoom. Additionally, the solution has high performance, and the video and quality of the calls are good. It has all the features that I need."
  • "One of my colleagues was trying to use Microsoft Teams on their laptop, and it was slow in terms of booting up when initially starting it. For example, it was not running in the background. In general, it takes some time to load. Zoom tends to have a faster loading time."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for meetings and other operations, such as raising hands, sharing screens, and sending chat messages.

How has it helped my organization?

Ms Teams has improved our efficiency. Travelling to and from physical meetings takes time due to traffic situations. Besides it improves physical safety because we spend less time on the road.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Teams is the ability to create Google calendar invites. When I click on that option to create an invite, it will go straight to Google in my web browser, and will creates the meeting placeholder. I'm then able to share it with other people by entering their email addresses in the provisioned location. I've not seen that option in Zoom. Additionally, the solution has high performance, and the video and quality of the calls are good. It has all the features that I need.

What needs improvement?

If the Ms Teams process is closed, the next time a user attempts to open Teams, it takes a while to load. I'm not 100% certain whether system resources have anything to do with this, but in my experience, when the Ms Teams process is already running, Ms Teams loads quicker. On the other hand, Zoom (and even Google Meet) tend to have a faster loading time.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have found Microsoft Teams to be scalable for what I have used it for. I have not tested the solution for more than 10 users at one time.

We have approximately four people using this solution in my organization. We use the solutions approximately every two weeks.

How are customer service and support?

I have never needed to contact the Microsoft Teams Technical Support channel. I have not had any problems with the application.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used other solutions, such as Zoom.

Zoom is a more lightweight solution and is easier to use than Microsoft Teams.

How was the initial setup?

The setup of Microsoft Teams is easy for a technical person like me. But a regular user may have a slight challenge with the process of activating an account on Ms Teams.

The multifactor authentication of Ms Teams can prove to be a challenge for a non-technical person.

I rate the setup of Microsoft Teams a three out of five.

What about the implementation team?

We install Teams in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are using the free version of the solutions. Zoom gives a time-limit of 40 minutes for more than two attendees and automatically ends the meeting. You'd need to connect back to be able to resume/continue the meeting. The free version of Ms Teams does not seem to have a time limit. At the time I was doing this review, I was on a Teams meeting that had gone beyond 3 hrs 30 mins and it was still going on.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Microsoft Teams an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
