Useful for internal meetings but improvement is needed in integration with other Office 365 products
Pros and Cons
  • "The product is more convenient than taking a plane to Australia. Going to Australia can take around two days. The tool is much quicker. The video conferencing feature has improved our productivity."
  • "Microsoft Teams becomes complicated when used with SharePoint. It needs to improve its integration with other Office 365 tools."

What is our primary use case?

Our usual use cases for Microsoft Teams primarily involve internal meetings among group members, constituting approximately 95 percent of our use. As a globally dispersed team with members in France, Europe, the US, and Australia, we extensively use Teams for virtual meetings, discussions, and chats.

What is most valuable?

The product is more convenient than taking a plane to Australia. Going to Australia can take around two days. The tool is much quicker. The video conferencing feature has improved our productivity.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams becomes complicated when used with SharePoint. It needs to improve its integration with other Office 365 tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for three to four years.

I rate the tool's scalability a nine out of ten. My company has 1100 users.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted the tech support yet.

How was the initial setup?

I rate Microsoft Teams' deployment a nine out of ten. You can deploy the product for one user in five minutes. It is part of the Office 365 bundle. One resource is enough to handle the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We did the deployment in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is expensive, and I rate its pricing a ten out of ten.

Comes with user-friendly features and helps to make calls to team members
Pros and Cons
  • "The tool's integration with OneNote and Power BI is good. The current version of Microsoft Teams is significantly more user-friendly compared to previous versions. I find it easy to handle any user needs and provide assistance. The device installation process is straightforward, and configuring it for users is not complicated. This seamless and user-friendly experience makes it easy to connect with everyone."
  • "Microsoft Teams' current features are not user-friendly, making it difficult for end-users to locate and understand them. There have also been issues with crashes, which is a concern in the current scenario."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for various tasks, such as storing data, making calls with my team, and managing operational calls.

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams' features that I find most valuable include the presentation feature, project planning tools, and the integration of OneNote. All the data we discuss during our meetings is loaded into the whiteboards and collectively stored in the same Microsoft Teams channel. This includes recordings and other relevant information. This is particularly helpful for those who may have missed a Teams meeting; they can easily catch up by accessing the channel and listening to the recording. It allows them to navigate through all the details and review stored notes.

The tool's integration with OneNote and Power BI is good. The current version of Microsoft Teams is significantly more user-friendly compared to previous versions. I find it easy to handle any user needs and provide assistance. The device installation process is straightforward, and configuring it for users is not complicated. This seamless and user-friendly experience makes it easy to connect with everyone.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams' current features are not user-friendly, making it difficult for end-users to locate and understand them. There have also been issues with crashes, which is a concern in the current scenario.

The product also crashes at times. It needs to improve its stability.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for more than six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Microsoft Teams' stability a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate Microsoft Teams' scalability an eight out of ten. It has more than 10,000 users in my company who use it daily.

How are customer service and support?

The tool's responses are not always as timely as I would like them to be. I believe there is room for enhancement in their support services.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

I rate the tool's deployment a nine out of ten. For our deployment process, we typically push through the images. The images are taken in the environment and not separately stored on other devices. Once accepted, these images are stored on every device, and then we must configure the login. You need two resources to handle the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

The tool's deployment was done in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten. Its pricing is fixed.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

Offers comprehensive functionality for document collaboration while needing better identity management for external communication
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams adds value for businesses by providing functionality that includes co-authoring on work documents, publishing Power BI sites for reporting and billing, and integrating calendaring."
  • "The biggest issue with Microsoft Teams is switching identities, especially when communicating with external organizations."

What is our primary use case?

I have used Microsoft Teams as a replacement for Skype for Business, originating from the old Lync and OCS days. I have been providing voice services in Teams, OCS, Lync, and Skype for Business since 2007.

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams adds value for businesses by providing functionality that includes co-authoring on work documents, publishing Power BI sites for reporting and billing, and integrating calendaring. It serves everything in one place and improves communication within organizations.

What needs improvement?

The biggest issue with Microsoft Teams is switching identities, especially when communicating with external organizations. Users often don't know they have messages from another company unless they log out and log back in with a different identity. This identity management needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Microsoft technologies for 25 years and using Microsoft Teams specifically since its inception.

How are customer service and support?

I have logged tickets for Office 365 and received responses within 24 hours, depending on the severity. While it takes time to reach someone knowledgeable, the support provided is helpful.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Negative

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Microsoft Teams replaced Skype for Business, which itself had replaced Lync and OCS before that.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams comes with Office 365 licenses like E3, but there are options for those who prefer not to pay for Teams by using alternative products like Slack.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

What other advice do I have?

I rate Microsoft Teams a seven out of ten. Although it is a solid solution, there is room for improvement with features like better identity management for external communication. Based on my personal experience, I believe Microsoft Teams continues to evolve and add value to businesses.

Its chat functionality is useful but it isn't so stable
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is a scalable tool because it integrates with many other tools and different kinds of apps."
  • "If you talk about the tool's disadvantages, it consists of losing connection. It's also a problem that it only stores information for up to 40 days. The aforementioned areas can be considered for improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution in our company primarily for collaboration, file sharing, and the chat functionality it provides our team.

What needs improvement?

If you talk about the tool's disadvantages, it consists of losing connection. It's also a problem that it only stores information for up to 40 days. The aforementioned areas can be considered for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for almost four years. I am using the solution's latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, the major issue is with the connection since it loses pieces of chats in between. Therefore, people don't rely on the tool since they know that whatever they have communicated with someone may not always be in their chat history.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a scalable tool because it integrates with many other tools and different kinds of apps. It is a really good tool because you can plan your meetings, you can take notes, and run your scrum meets. In all the aforementioned aspects, it's really good.

Maybe more than 500 users are using the tool in our company.

How are customer service and support?

Only the IT personnel interacting with Microsoft would have experience with Microsoft's technical support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Slack was used quite a lot before. Microsoft Teams is a replacement for Skype as well. Skype has been totally ruled out now by our company.

Microsoft Teams is much better because Skype is just a very small tool used for its chat functionality. With Teams, you get many different features for sharing files. However, Microsoft Teams has a problem of losing connection many times, though not always, but it gets slow. It has the problem of storing information for only up to 30 days or 40 days, depending upon your organization's policy. Hence, not many people at times prefer to interact over the tool since their conversation gets lost.

What other advice do I have?

It's a good product. I think that with the package of Microsoft Outlook itself, most organizations are going forward with Microsoft Teams. I am not aware if there is anything else that they would be looking forward to, but I can say that the tool has a scope for improvement. As a user of the tool, I can say that Microsoft Teams is not a 100 percent reliable solution.

Trust is the main factor. I see that users do not trust the tool, and they still prefer to send emails because they feel that whatever information they are sending using the tool may get lost. Hence, that makes it a big concern.

I rate the overall solution a six out of ten.

A seamless tool that improves internal collaboration and meetings
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution has improved internal collaboration. We can seamlessly interact on a number of documents by projecting them on the screen. This experience is not with internal teams but with clients as well."
  • "The chat option in the Teams tab is not very helpful. We don't use it very often. There is also an expiration on the recordings. It would be useful to not have a time limit."

What is our primary use case?

We use the product for internal and client meetings.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution has improved internal collaboration. We can seamlessly interact on a number of documents by projecting them on the screen. This experience is not with internal teams but with clients as well.

What is most valuable?

The solution has a plugin app called Whiteboard which is useful. I am also impressed with the product's projecting on screen, audio and the video.

What needs improvement?

The chat option in the Teams tab is not very helpful. We don't use it very often. There is also an expiration on the recordings. It would be useful to not have a time limit.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product since the start of the lockdown in March 2022.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the solution's stability an eight out of ten. I have faced issues due to network connectivity.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the product's scalability a nine-point five out of ten. The whole world uses Office and it's an extension of it. My company has around 200 users for the product. Since we are a law firm, users are mostly non-technical persons. We use the solution daily.

How are customer service and support?

I have been never required to contact the technical support at Microsoft since the functionality is basic.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used VC software but switched to Teams because its easier to understand.

How was the initial setup?

The tool's installation is easy and it is installed on our laptops. The solution's deployment was fast and we deployed it throughout the organization within two to three days. One technical person from our Delhi office helped us with the product's installation. I think that one person would be enough to handle the installation in an office of 60 people.

What about the implementation team?

The product's installation was done in-house. The IT team helped us with that. They took our laptops and helped us to install them.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have a subscription to Zoom. Zoom is more suited for conferences and seminars or when you have a large number who are attending the meeting. Teams is useful when you have a small gathering and want to have focused conversations with either your clients or internally.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a nine-point five out of ten because of the ease of use. The solution is integrated with Office 365's Calendar. You can open Outlook and access it from there which makes it very seamless. The solution is a great software and I recommend it highly. The main reason that Teams have an edge is that, in most offices, there is limited accessibility to Gmail and hence problems with Google Meet.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Offers seamless integration and features like Planner, SharePoint Integration, and channel functionality
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was okay."
  • "In terms of functionality, I would like to see support for multi-user or multiple windows for the File structure."

What is most valuable?

I would say the three most important features are Planner, SharePoint Integration with the file structure, and the Channel functionality. With the channel functionality, we can create and manage people, including external users.

What needs improvement?

There are two topics I'd like to address regarding Microsoft Teams software. First, it is programmed in Electron, which, in my opinion, makes it sluggish. Improving the performance and reducing high CPU utilization would be a great enhancement.

Secondly, in terms of functionality, I would like to see support for multi-user or multiple windows for the File structure. Currently, this can only be done through the browser, and you need to switch accounts to access different windows. Additionally, better support for working with multiple tenants is an ongoing issue.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been an early adopter of Microsoft Teams. I've been using it since the platform was developed. So, it's been around 15 years, more or less.

We currently use the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. Our entire company operates on this platform, and it has proven to be quite stable. Currently, around 70 end-users are working with Microsoft Teams.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For our scenarios, scalability is quite high. We mainly set up infrastructure for small and medium corporate clients, so we use the public cloud. We have not faced any scalability issues for up to 20 users, which is the maximum size of clients we typically serve. So, for our specialization, there haven't been any scalability concerns.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was okay. For me, as a technical guy, it's easy.

Within a day, we are able to configure everything. Then, there is domain setup, which may take a little time to propagate the domain and other settings because we are configuring clients with websites. So, in general, the configuration takes about two days, and the clients are up and running.

What about the implementation team?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We primarily sell the packages we receive from Microsoft to our customers, including email services and other features. From my perspective, the pricing is totally okay.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We also use Slack but primarily we are more of a Microsoft-based company.

We heavily use Microsoft Teams. Moreover, it's interesting that Salesforce acquired Slack. We do use Slack internally for some occasions. But, in general, most of our clients in corporate environments prefer Microsoft Teams. So, we have a clear preference for flexibility with Microsoft Teams.

What other advice do I have?

Microsoft Teams is definitely worth adopting. It's a great way to start digitalizing your company and enabling remote work. Without this tool, it's challenging to operate efficiently. There are alternative solutions like Slack, but they are not as compatible with the broader Microsoft ecosystem. With Microsoft Teams, everything integrates seamlessly. You can access files and collaborate through both desktop and mobile applications.

Overall, I'd rate it an eight out of ten because a few points need improvement. Firstly, the CPU utilization can be quite high during calls, which drains the laptop battery quickly. Secondly, there is some sluggishness and delays that can be frustrating. Lastly, working with multiple tenants can be tedious and should be resolved.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Microsoft Azure

Offers good background effects for video, and very light, smooth, and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "The installation is very, very easy."
  • "Teams requires a stronger network for joining conversations and meetings."

What is our primary use case?

At my previous company, we used it primarily for connecting and collaborating with different locations and teams. We joined meetings, had conversations, and took notes within the platform.

Additionally, we used Teams for screen sharing and remote collaboration.

What is most valuable?

I like the background effects. We can select a wallpaper or a video background, especially if we're in a noisy or messy environment.

What needs improvement?

Compared to Zoom, which also requires a subscription-like Teams, Teams requires a stronger network for joining conversations and meetings.

Ssometimes, there's lagging. Sometimes, there are call log issues. I think maybe the call log shows "bad network connection" even when the network is fine.

Sometimes, if you have bad network connectivity, it shows automatically, and the call goes on hold. But when you're continuously in a meeting for one or two hours, screen sharing, or providing remote troubleshooting, sometimes the Teams call goes on hold. That might be something that needs improvement.

So the lagging can be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with Microsoft Teams for around two and a half years at my previous organization.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Everyone in my company uses it. So, it is extensively used in my company. There might be 20,000 users pan-India.

I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Compared to Zoom and Webex, Teams has a very strong network. We can easily connect via phone using Microsoft Intune. We can also join via laptop. And I like the new features like Copilot. That's what I like most.

Teams is very light, smooth, and reliable compared to Webex.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is very, very easy. You can go to Google, search for Microsoft Teams, and easily install the desktop version. It's the easiest process, not complex at all.

It's a smooth application. It will take around a few seconds, but it depends on your hardware capability and your devices.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We use the paid version. On my mobile, I have Teams service as a work profile, so I can join with my phone. The subscription is there.

I'm working for NTT. So this mobile phone license allows me to join.

What other advice do I have?

It's a nice application. Microsoft Teams is great for remote calling and joining calls.

I would rate it a nine out of ten. I would recommend Teams to others users because it's very reliable and smooth compared to others like Zoom and Webex.

Provides valuable platform integration and has a straightforward setup process
Pros and Cons
  • "The platform has facilitated our communication and collaboration, especially in a remote or hybrid work environment."
  • "They could enhance the product's stability and integration features."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for Microsoft Teams is chat and meetings. We also utilize Teams to access files through SharePoint and OneDrive, form Teams groups, and conduct meetings. Our environment includes an on-premises deployment and approximately 250 users, with most using it daily and a small number using it weekly.

How has it helped my organization?

The platform has facilitated our communication and collaboration, especially in a remote or hybrid work environment. It has streamlined our access to shared files and improved our ability to conduct meetings and collaborate on projects.

What is most valuable?

We particularly value the platform's integration with SharePoint and OneDrive for file access, chat, and meeting functionalities. These features enhance our ability to collaborate efficiently and maintain seamless team communication.

What needs improvement?

They could enhance the product's stability and integration features.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Microsoft Teams for more than one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the platform's stability as a seven out of ten. We have encountered issues such as repairing Outlook profiles and reinstalling Office for some users.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams' scalability is seven out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Skype for meetings and video calls. We switched to Microsoft Teams for enhanced collaboration capabilities and better integration with other Microsoft products.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup process was easy and took a few days to complete.

What about the implementation team?

We took the help of our internal team for the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

Before implementing Microsoft Teams, organizations should ensure they have a clear understanding of their use case and the integration capabilities required. Proper planning and deployment can significantly enhance the overall experience.

I rate it an eight out of ten.
