The screen-sharing tools and audio controls are nice
Pros and Cons
  • "I like WebEx's stability and ease of use. The screen-sharing tools and audio controls are also nice."
  • "I was in a meeting on the free version where there were no controls. You couldn't mute somebody or put it in dedicated speaker mode. It was an important meeting, and because of the lack of an ability to control who the speakers were, we got a version of a heckler. Well, it wasn't really a heckler per se. It was just somebody who thinks they know everything."

What is most valuable?

I like WebEx's stability and ease of use. The screen-sharing tools and audio controls are also nice.

What needs improvement?

I was in a meeting on the free version where there were no controls. You couldn't mute somebody or put it in dedicated speaker mode. It was an important meeting, and because of the lack of an ability to control who the speakers were, we got a version of a heckler. Well, it wasn't really a heckler per se. For how long have I used the solution?

I've had a WebEx account for more than 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

WebEx is stable. It works.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't use WebEx for large meetings, but it can scale up. I work in tandem with another guy in the automotive space. He has regular meetings of anywhere from 16 to 30 people. He can easily manage the speakers and things like that. He pays for the subscription and gets all the features because he needs them.

How was the initial setup?

Installing WebEx is straightforward. It's just a couple of clicks on an executable installer. You can log in with an ID or not.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the free version, not the enterprise version. The only compelling reason to go for paid WebEx pay is if you're hosting large meetings.

What other advice do I have?

I rate WebEx 10 out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Cost-effective, easy to manage and use, and the support is good
Pros and Cons
  • "What we like about Webex is that it is a hosted solution, so there is no demand for us to invest in hardware, skill, or manpower to maintain our cloud meeting capability."
  • "Better integration with other solutions would benefit Webex."

What is our primary use case?

We use Webex for having our virtual meetings and we also provide this as a solution for our customers. On our side, we use it for both internal and external communication.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution allows us to operate 24/7, even in cases like the current COVID-19 crisis. It allows us to interact with our customers for support and for other activities.

What is most valuable?

What we like about Webex is that it is a hosted solution, so there is no demand for us to invest in hardware, skill, or manpower to maintain our cloud meeting capability.

We can host a meeting online from anywhere at any time and from any location.

Webex can be used for more than just meetings. You can also have a remote session or an organized event like a webinar. You can perform live technical support if you want.

What needs improvement?

Better integration with other solutions would benefit Webex.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Webex for the past eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We are using Webex extensively these days.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very scalable in terms of the time limits for meetings. You can even say that there are no time limits, depending on your subscription.

We have 20 internal users and more than 100 customers using Webex.

How are customer service and technical support?

I like the support and I don't see any challenges in terms of it. The solution is managed and maintained through the cloud and at any time, if we need any help or technical assistance then we have toll free numbers, as well as email addresses for contact centers.

We can get any help and support that we need, whether it is technical support or retail support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another similar software prior to this.

What about the implementation team?

We deploy this solution ourselves and it takes about 30 minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is subscription-based and the cost varies depending on how many minutes are included in the plan. There is an unlimited plan available as well.

In general, this is not an expensive solution. The price improves with the number of licenses that are purchased.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anybody who is considering Webex is that it is a great tool for having meetings and collaborating with customers, suppliers, and employees. I think that everybody should use it.

Overall, this is a good solution and I recommend it. It is easy to operate, easy to manage, easy to configure, and it is cost-effective.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to use with good stability and excellent audio capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution makes it easy for us as a team to collaborate remotely."
  • "The solution should come as a big client for the system. It should be able to be used just like chat software when necessary, similar to instant messaging."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for any virtual meeting. We use it for web meetings that require audio communication, text communication, and video. Video is not essential for us most of the time, however. It's not critical to see staff during, for example, team meetings.

What is most valuable?

The chat functionality and the audio capabilities are the solution's most valuable features. For us, video isn't important as long as audio is good.

The presentation of the solution is very efficient.

The solution makes it easy for us as a team to collaborate remotely.

All of the basic features are fantastic. I couldn't rank them in terms of "favorite", and they are all pretty standard within any other similar product, like Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

Webex offers very good bandwidth managed tools. Even with low or poor bandwidth, the solution works pretty well.

What needs improvement?

The solution should come as a big client for the system. It should be able to be used just like chat software when necessary, similar to instant messaging.

Currently, the solution isn't really lacking in features.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using the solution for eight years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of the solution is excellent compared to other solutions on the market. The solution also works seamlessly with both desktop and mobile devices.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is fantastic. It's really seamless. If you need to have a big meeting, you can do so quite easily with this solution. It works well. It supports a lot of people at once. It may be that up to one hundred users can join a single call. We've tested the solution with this amount of people and it worked fine. However, largely, we wouldn't do that. We'd run something of that size more like a one-way meeting, similar to a webinar so that things are kept orderly.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never contacted technical support directly. We have our own internal team that handles any troubleshooting that needs to happen.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing costs are usually billed on a subscription basis, however I don't know whether it's monthly or yearly. I also don't know the exact costs to our organization. I'm only aware that it's a subscription-based model. There aren't any extra costs on top of the standard licensing fee that is charged.

What other advice do I have?

We schedule calls often with this solution. We schedule a meeting and dial-in to the meeting. When I say dial-in, it's web-based or a data connection, not a traditional voice call. You don't need a phone to use the service.

I would rate this product an eight out of ten. Other products are also doing the same jobs, and run the same tasks. The only difference is stability. Especially when we do screen sharing, compared to other products, Webex performance is much better.

The solution is provided from the cloud, so we're always using the most up-to-date version of the solution. Webex ensures everything is always automatically updated.

Pros and Cons
  • "As compared to Zoom, I like its user interface more. It is much easier to use, and I also find it more stable."
  • "There is a small bug when it comes to connecting my Webex with my Outlook Calendar. Some meetings show up, and others don't. They should fix this bug."

What is our primary use case?

About 99% of the time, I use it for team meetings, regional calls, and screen sharing. I also use it personally to connect with my family, attend gatherings, and so on.

What is most valuable?

As compared to Zoom, I like its user interface more. It is much easier to use, and I also find it more stable.

The feature that I constantly use is the sharing of the screen, which is helpful when different teams are working on the same product. I also use the Slido plugin.

What needs improvement?

There is a small bug when it comes to connecting my Webex with my Outlook Calendar. Some meetings show up, and others don't. They should fix this bug.

It has a good interface and solid video quality
Pros and Cons
  • "I like how Webex lets you zoom in and out on the presenter's screen. It's silly, but all the solutions have the same features, and I think WebEx is the only one that allows zoom."
  • "Webex could add some integration with Microsoft Office or G-Suite."

What is our primary use case?

I mostly use Webex for meetings with our clients and sometimes for interviews.

What is most valuable?

I don't have deep experience with Webex, but it has a good interface and excellent video quality. I like how Webex lets you zoom in and out on the presenter's screen. It's silly, but all the solutions have the same features, and I think WebEx is the only one that allows zoom.

What needs improvement?

Webex could add some integration with Microsoft Office or G-Suite.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Webex is stable and scalable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use Teams and Zoom. The official solution at my company is Microsoft Teams, but many of our clients have Cisco WebEx in their environment, so we need to use it.

How was the initial setup?

The Webex setup is basically automatic. You download it, and the installer does the rest. It takes only a few minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Some companies we do business with have the paid version of Webex, and we use it to connect to them, but we just use the free version.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Webex 10 out of 10.

Pros and Cons
  • "I have found a lot of virtual meeting solutions seem the same. Some might work a little bit better, it is difficult to pinpoint a particular functionality that's widely different, they all have screen sharing and video in-voice."
  • "I do not like emojis."

What is our primary use case?

I am using Webex mainly to speak to my manager.

What is most valuable?

I have found a lot of virtual meeting solutions seem the same. Some might work a little bit better, it is difficult to pinpoint a particular functionality that's widely different, they all have screen sharing and video in-voice.

What needs improvement?

I do not like emojis.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Webex for a while, within the past 12 months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 1,000 employees in Canada that could have used Webex at one time or another.

How are customer service and support?

I have not used technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is straightforward in most cases.

What other advice do I have?

Virtual meeting solutions are not perfect while working remotely. The quality of the service depends on many factors, such as the connection I am using or the servers. Occasionally it's not always clear or perfect. It's not Webex in particular or this solution causing the issue.

I rate Webex an eight out of ten.

I would give most of the virtual meetings solutions, such as Zoom, or Google Meets which I use for my kids. All those platforms are similar, none of them are perfect.

Has better features than Microsoft Teams and Zoom with an intuitive interface
Pros and Cons
  • "I don't think Zoom has anywhere near the features and functionality of Webex."
  • "My biggest issue with the solution involves its price, which I find to be prohibitive for small governments and modest-sized schools."

What is our primary use case?

I have no idea which version we are using at present.

What needs improvement?

It is difficult for me to put my finger exactly on what needs to be improved with the solution.

This said, I feel the greatest issue with the solution is its price. Small governments and modest-sized schools simply cannot afford it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Webex for five-plus years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is definitely stable. We are talking about a Cisco product and it has been around for years.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My biggest issue with the solution involves its price, which I find to be prohibitive for small governments and modest-sized schools.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I feel the solution to be stable and they are constantly improving on it. It is probably the best in the market for its kind. I have often heard anecdotally from those using Microsoft Teams that Webex has many features which it lacks.

There is also Zoom, which people like, supposedly for its ease of use. Initially, there were many issues with it, not least of all that the database is housed in China. Yet, I feel they have since gotten passed these, as they experienced growing pains during the pandemic, when usage spiked. They started to offer the solution free of charge.

I don't think Zoom has anywhere near the features and functionality of Webex.

I only use Zoom or Teams when another person does who has initiated the call.

What other advice do I have?

I can't say for certain how the solution is deployed, although this is likely on the cloud. I use the cloud-based version. I know there is an app, part of which, I assume, could be cloud-based. I mostly use the solution on my computer, which has a VPN connection.

Issues I encountered in the past did not involve the product itself, but resulted from my computer and connections being slow. Moreover, as a company, we need to do a much better job training people. There is a need to learn with experience and I am not certain I did this properly. I feel the product has much more potential for use than I make of it.

I find the solution to be convenient. In the past I found it to be a bit on the clunky side, but now the interfaces are pretty intuitive and they are constantly improving on the solution.

I rate Webex as a solid eight out of ten.
