Good for virtual meetings, but the security and privacy aspects need to be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is video conferencing."
  • "Zoom is an immature product that is not yet stable."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Zoom for virtual meetings.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is video conferencing.

What needs improvement?

The security needs to be enhanced. A third-party security audit needs to be completed, and the privacy clauses in their contracts need to be changed.

Zoom is an immature product that is not yet stable.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have only been using Zoom for a short time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Zoom is not a stable product. Rather, it is an immature product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution can be scalable but I have not used it for a huge audience so I am not sure.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We are also using Skype for Business for our virtual meetings. Because of issues that we have discovered in Zoom, we have limited our usage of it in the company.

The reason we are using Zoom is that Skype for Business is not installed on all of our employee accounts. In the future, we will only be using Skype for Business.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Zoom is available with an open license that can support meetings of up to 40 minutes.

What other advice do I have?

This solution works for video conferencing but it needs improvement in terms of privacy and security.

I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

Good communication and performance, but the time limit in the free version should be removed or increased
Pros and Cons
  • "The sharing and recording, are the most valuable features of Zoom."
  • "Whiteboarding would allow me to utilize the screen to draw something, explain, and write something."

What is our primary use case?

I am a pre-sales consultant.

I use the basic features in Zoom, to have conversations with clients,  show some presentations, and for sharing. I'm not a very advanced user.

What is most valuable?

The sharing and recording, are the most valuable features of Zoom.

What needs improvement?

If whiteboarding is not available, it would be beneficial. I'm not sure if it exists. If I can do some whiteboard sessions, that would be great.

Whiteboarding would allow me to utilize the screen to draw something, explain, and write something.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Zoom for two years.

The corporation updates this solution on a regular basis.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Zoom is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm not sure about scalability because I didn't host that many people on it, so I can't really comment on scalability or how well it performs when there are a lot of attendees and sessions. I really don't have the experience.

How are customer service and support?

I have not contacted technical support.

It is maintained by my company; I am a user who does not get involved in the technical aspects.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I am exploring Microsoft, but Studio is no longer supported.

I have some experience with Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

I use Teams a lot and prefer it to Zoom simply because I'm more comfortable with it and there's no time limit. I don't need to worry about when my meeting ends.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple, it's straightforward.

Zoom is maintained by my corporate IT team. I am a user, I use this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

What I don't like is the 45-minute time limit on the free subscription. Teams, on the other hand, do not operate in this manner. You can utilize as much use of Teams as you want. There are no time limits in the free version of Teams.

It is included with your Office 365 subscription. If you have Office 365, which everyone does, it is included. You can't use Word, Excel, or PowerPoint without it.

The free version has a time limit, but paid subscriptions are available.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Zoom a seven out of ten.

We are using Zoom in our organization for customer meetings.

Zoom could improve by extending the one-hour maximum session time in the free version.

I have been using Zoom for approximately three months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Zoom has been good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Zoom is scalable, we have had meetings with over one hundred plus participants and we did not experience any issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex previously.

I have found Cisco Webex to be similar to Zoom in functionality.

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation is straightforward. It only involves a few clicks.

What about the implementation team?

I did the implementation of Zoom myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Zoom has a less expensive subscription than other solutions such as Cisco Webex.

Zoom offers a free and paid version of the solution. The price of Zoom could be less expensive.

What other advice do I have?

This is a good solution compared to others because you are receiving many features at a low cost.

I rate Zoom an eight out of ten.

Reliable video communications tool that is great for meetings but has trouble staying connected on mobile devices

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution mainly for meetings with customers and the occasional webinar/interview.

What is most valuable?

I like having the ability to annotate remote presentations, and it is easy for everyone to share.

What needs improvement?

The mobile version of Zoom could use some improvement. Right now, when you receive a call and answer on mobile, chances are that the connection will drop.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Zoom on a daily basis for the past three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable. I have a personal and company account. There are about one thousand users in my company that use Zoom on a regular basis.

How are customer service and support?

I have not needed to contact support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used Google Meet, Webex and Microsoft Teams - depending on if we set up the meeting or the client does. We always make our meetings on Zoom because we believe that it is the best option.

Webex, for example, collects a lot of information making it a long process to get into the actual meeting and occasionally requires updates as you are trying to enter meetings.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward - much easier than all other options.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this communications tool to anyone looking for affordable, easy to use, trouble free video communications.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

  • "Could be more flexible for individuals that do not have the economic capacity."

What is our primary use case?

We use Zoom daily to connect with other people like our vendors and business partners.

What is most valuable?

Zoom is a very light application. It uses the network and has many features like the ability to record meetings, you can chat, and collaborate. The video conversation is very clear.

What needs improvement?

Platforms always require improvements. Zoom could be more flexible for individuals that do not have the economic capacity.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Zoom for four years.

Zoom is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Easy to use, maintenance-free, and it's reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "Zoom did everything that we needed it to do."
  • "It would be helpful if Zoom could integrate with our medical systems."

What is our primary use case?

We use Zoom for video conferencing.

I don't personally use it much anymore because the company, in general, prefers Microsoft Teams. However, we have a behavior and health group that still uses it.

What is most valuable?

Zoom did everything that we needed it to do.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful if Zoom could integrate with our medical systems.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Zoom since the pandemic began, approximately two years ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a pretty solid product and we haven't had any problems with it.

How are customer service and support?

The users never call IT support for any help with it.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

For day-to-day use, the company generally relies on Microsoft Teams.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is too high. The cost of the license could be cheaper.

What other advice do I have?

My advice for anybody who is considering Zoom is the try Microsoft Teams first. If ultimately they need to buy Zoom, however, it's a good product.

In summary, this is a good video conferencing solution and although I don't use it much anymore, it worked and did everything that we needed it to.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Much better and more reliable than Microsoft Teams and WebEx, but has occasional problems with latency, audio or visual quality
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is much better and more reliable than Microsoft Teams or Webex."
  • "There are occasional latency, sound and audio quality difficulties."

What is our primary use case?

I use my Mac to conduct Zoom meetings with those who are interested, which runs on my browser.

What needs improvement?

I have come across the run of the mill issues which someone would expect to find with these communication solutions. There are occasional latency, sound and audio quality difficulties.

The solution is good, but it's not perfect.

A big feature I wish to see would involve the ability to attach documents while conducting a session.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Zoom for around a year-and-a-half.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

The solution is much better and more reliable than Microsoft Teams or Webex.

I am not the one in charge of the decisions. People, such as recruiters and hiring managers, are the ones who make the decision to conduct a one-on-one meeting. Nowadays, these things are done remotely and the people, at turns, may specify Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Webex. This can vary. I deal with all of these solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I believe that Zoom is deployed in the cloud.

We provide software as a service.

I rate Zoom around a seven out of ten.

Performs better than competitors and has a user-friendly interface
Pros and Cons
  • "Compared to Teams, Zoom's performance and user interface are better. This is especially the case when you're doing any kind of online presentation, PowerPoint, or team demo. I think Zoom is much more user friendly."
  • "If Zoom could be more secure, that would be better. Security is always a highly sensitive matter for everyone today."

What is our primary use case?

There are upwards of 200 people in my organization using Zoom for video conferencing.

What is most valuable?

Compared to Teams, Zoom's performance and user interface are better. This is especially the case when you're doing any kind of online presentation, PowerPoint, or team demo. I think Zoom is much more user friendly. I don't know the level of security of Zoom, but it underwent a CSO test and was approved, so the level of security is good enough for us to use it. Since we are dealing with cyber security, I think it should be well secured.

What needs improvement?

If Zoom could be more secure, that would be better. Security is always a highly sensitive matter for everyone today.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Zoom for five or six years.

How are customer service and support?

We've had no issues with Zoom that required us to contact technical support.

How was the initial setup?

Installing Zoom is very straightforward. It only took a couple of minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't know what the price for Zoom is. It's a company license, so I don't know anything about pricing.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Zoom nine out of 10. I would recommend it to others.
