The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Seamless provisioning and application deployment enhance workflow, yet enhancements in asset and software spend management roles are acknowledged
The zero-touch capability where you can install all the business applications and deliver the laptop to the user, who just needs to log on to complete everything without any human intervention, are the best features in Ivanti Neurons for MDM. We have security features, patch management, compliance reports, and dashboards integrated within Ivanti.

I have not encountered many areas for improvement, but there are feature requests submitted to Jamf Pro for reporting purposes that they are working on. Jamf Pro continues to increase its capabilities. One improvement I would recommend is integrating Jamf Setup Manager as an inbuilt feature. Currently, it is a separate tool that needs to be installed and integrated with Jamf Pro. Having zero-touch capability as an inbuilt feature would eliminate the need to work with scripts and configurations. The pricing of Jamf Pro is relatively high. Jamf Pro does not have a fixed price for all organizations. Based on my experience, they offer discounts inconsistently. Due to the high pricing, many organizations are moving to InTune and Workspace ONE. There are many other tools in the market for Mac OS device management, such as ScaleFusion, Addigy, and Kandji. Small organizations are moving to these alternatives, and larger organizations with fewer security concerns are moving to InTune. Despite being expensive, I still rate Jamf Pro highly because of its security features and comprehensive management capabilities for Mac OS devices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Configuration profiles, remediation, scripts, and auto-pilot features are very good."
"The Autopilot feature is the most valuable because it saves significant time on managing devices. We can ship devices globally, and users can set them up on their own. It's convenient."
"If the product works, remote access will be a benefit. To this point we have not had reason to have confidence in achieving that access."
"The most valuable aspect of the product is data loss prevention, which is really a benefit of the platform in general."
"Intune is valuable for managing various endpoints and integrating with the Azure cloud, which is essential for our organization."
"What I appreciate most about Microsoft Intune is that we can manage multiple devices simultaneously in a single frame of time, and I can manage everything remotely from anywhere."
"The aspects I find most valuable are managing the data and applications, restricting users from installing any applications, and being able to wipe the data if a phone is misplaced or stolen."
"Intune significantly simplifies application deployment, mobile application management, and policy enforcement, such as restricting user access to specific applications, thereby enhancing overall environment security."
"The most valuable features of MobileIron UEM are tunneling and enterprise integration."
"MobileIron UEM is a scalable solution."
"The products are quite good when they are operational."
"The most valuable features of MobileIron UEM are tunneling and enterprise integration."
"The security features in Ivanti Neurons for MDM are very effective, which is why we have been distributing it for the past 15 years."
"The company provides great customer service."
"The solution is good, it's effective in what it is able to achieve and it's easy to use."
"The user interface is user-friendly."
"I'm now starting to package up software to deploy to our Macs remotely."
"Jamf provides the only complete solution for managing Macs at large and small scale."
"We are very happy with the product; it works well, we're three people looking after it, and it's not that difficult to run and maintain."
"I like the ability to modify it to suit our environment and the fact that, since it's an Apple-dedicated service, the integration is easy."
"Things that would have taken us weeks in the past now take us mere minutes."
"Jamf Pro has provided a major advancement in managing and deploying iPads across our organization."
"With Jamf Pro in the cloud, we are capable of managing our devices, located all over the world, with ease."
"It's as easy as procuring the licensing for the apps and then setting it to the volume purchasing back in Jamf."

Cons

"Intune is not the most user-friendly mobile device management platform available."
"The initial setup is a little bit complex."
"However, due to access limitations, we are unable to deploy certain security features on end-user devices."
"The worst aspect is the reporting."
"There are challenges with Intune, specifically in reporting. Many third-party companies offer single-pane-of-glass reporting that shows you what your update environment looks like, how your patch is doing, application status, etc., but Intune's reporting is not intuitive."
"Intune should improve its software inventory to provide better metering of which software is used throughout the company. This is especially needed for reporting third-party software solutions."
"Microsoft Intune could enhance its patch management for various devices, ensuring regular updates and tracking of device privileges."
"The scalability could be improved, and like most other MDM products, Intune is good but not 100% there yet."
"The release of new versions often goes in the wrong direction with Ivanti. The test team or the testing procedures are flawed because they release new versions with numerous basic issues."
"MobileIron UEM could improve the monitoring of devices."
"The release of new versions often goes in the wrong direction with Ivanti."
"I also found the UI to be quite complicated to work with, so it takes quite a bit of time to train any new staff and to get them to understand how the solution works."
"The integration between the MobileIron and Advanced Neurons isn't completely in sync, and we're still working on that."
"The disadvantage in connection with Windows devices is that the pushing of policies takes some time."
"We would like the initial setup to be simpler."
"The integration between the MobileIron and Advanced Neurons isn't completely in sync, and we're still working on that."
"I'd like to see better reporting features."
"Jamf needs to get an inbuilt remote support tool to allow the admin to remote into machines. At present, you can use third-party remote apps, however, a Jamf one would be better."
"It would be nice if Jamf added an onboarding tool integrated into Jamf Connect during the automated DEP enrollment workflow."
"Patch management is an area that still needs focus and attention."
"Patch management is lacking greatly; more options are needed in order for us to consider using it at all."
"The solution needs cheaper training."
"Jamf should give the option to download individual device policy logs, as this capability would really help to diagnose issues."
"There is still no feature for properly patching T2 Security Chip-enabled Macs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its pricing seems reasonable."
"It is not expensive."
"Intune is included with our F3 and E5 licenses."
"The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
"The price for Intune is fair."
"Microsoft Intune is pretty reasonable. We have difficulty with Azure, which is probably why we have not put many assets in Azure. Everything we put there is very expensive."
"We have the business premium licenses for the solution."
"The pricing for Intune and the competitor products are all within the same range, there is no true advantage when it comes to cost."
"My impression is that MobileIron is very expensive."
"The price of MobileIron UEM is very good."
"The setup is pricey upfront for support and setup."
"JumpStart is available at an additional cost."
"Jamf is quite up there. It wasn't the cheapest solution, but it's reasonable. Apigee was cheaper than Jamf."
"The cost of this solution is expensive but worth it."
"The setup cost is in the training, which is the most important step of your journey."
"The licensing costs for this solution are high."
"Licensing cost is dependent on the footprint and foreseen growth."
"The cost of any licensing is certainly outweighed by the time saved from manually managing Apple devices."
