Centralized device management has transformed security and streamlined remote provisioning
One area where Microsoft Intune can improve is the user interface. Sometimes the portal feels a bit complex and not very intuitive, especially for new users, and it can take time to find specific settings. Another point is troubleshooting. While logs are available, the diagnostic policies and sync issues can still be time-consuming and not very straightforward. I also feel that reporting could be more detailed and customizable. The built-in reports are helpful, but for deeper insights, I often need to rely on additional tools. Overall, it is a strong solution, but improving usability and troubleshooting experience would make it even better. While Microsoft Intune works very well within the Microsoft ecosystem, the integration of some third-party tools could be smoother and require less customization. Support is another area that could improve, as sometimes response times can be slow, and resolving complex issues may take longer than expected. In terms of features, I think more advanced automation and built-in remediation options would be helpful since common issues can be fixed automatically without manual intervention.

Seamless provisioning and application deployment enhance workflow, yet enhancements in asset and software spend management roles are acknowledged
The zero-touch capability where you can install all the business applications and deliver the laptop to the user, who just needs to log on to complete everything without any human intervention, are the best features in Ivanti Neurons for MDM. We have security features, patch management, compliance reports, and dashboards integrated within Ivanti.

I have not encountered many areas for improvement, but there are feature requests submitted to Jamf Pro for reporting purposes that they are working on. Jamf Pro continues to increase its capabilities. One improvement I would recommend is integrating Jamf Setup Manager as an inbuilt feature. Currently, it is a separate tool that needs to be installed and integrated with Jamf Pro. Having zero-touch capability as an inbuilt feature would eliminate the need to work with scripts and configurations. The pricing of Jamf Pro is relatively high. Jamf Pro does not have a fixed price for all organizations. Based on my experience, they offer discounts inconsistently. Due to the high pricing, many organizations are moving to InTune and Workspace ONE. There are many other tools in the market for Mac OS device management, such as ScaleFusion, Addigy, and Kandji. Small organizations are moving to these alternatives, and larger organizations with fewer security concerns are moving to InTune. Despite being expensive, I still rate Jamf Pro highly because of its security features and comprehensive management capabilities for Mac OS devices.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The best features of Microsoft Intune include continuous implementation of new capabilities each year, covering almost everything."
"The security posture is very good. It's very customizable."
"For Windows services, there are multiple options within Intune to modernize it to be more internet-facing and dynamic."
"Being able to manage the devices remotely is most valuable. We can push security requirements through Microsoft Intune."
"Autopilot is definitely the most valuable feature for me, because as an MSP supporting some clients with 300 to 400 users, once it is configured correctly we use Microsoft Intune so that when a laptop is sent directly to a remote user they just log in with their email address and password and their machine is ready to go with Wi-Fi, SharePoint access, OneDrive backup, Outlook, and all the applications they need automatically configured and deployed."
"Cloud-based device management is the best feature for me as it impacts my company the most; it is much easier than the previous Configuration Manager or SCCM."
"It is easy to use and easy to roll out with low impact on users; it is stable and scalable as well, and the central administration con dashboard is very easy to use and provides very good oversight on all that needs to be monitored."
"I have seen a return on investment with Microsoft Intune, as it has saved me resources; previously, I managed my infrastructure with a team of around six to seven members, but after transitioning to the Microsoft Intune hybrid model, I am able to manage it with just one resource, allowing me to cut costs significantly, around 50-60 lakhs."
"The user interface is user-friendly."
"MobileIron UEM is a scalable solution."
"The products are quite good when they are operational."
"The security features in Ivanti Neurons for MDM are very effective, which is why we have been distributing it for the past 15 years."
"The most valuable features of MobileIron UEM are tunneling and enterprise integration."
"It's effective in what it is able to achieve and it's easy to use."
"The solution is good, it's effective in what it is able to achieve and it's easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is that everything is in one place, which makes it easy to manage."
"The end-users are excited and happy that they're able to be more productive because they're able to access approved applications and self-service."
"My team use this solution to provide end-to-end support on our managed Mac fleet. This includes doing OS updates and upgrades, application deployments, configuration settings and outlining."
"The solution helps as patch management with Macs; previously I was doing everything manually by myself, and with this product I am now saving two hours per device for roughly 30 devices, so it is saving me a huge amount of work."
"Jamf API and reporting Jamf integration for other applications as well as automation is fantastic."
"DEP imaging and settings deployment is almost instant from when you click the save button, and it is so good!"
"Jamf Pro allows us to manage all Apple devices from a single interface, making it easy to deploy and configure software, set policies, and inventory devices."
"If I need to deploy an app to all the laptops, I can use the smart group I created for them instead of choosing each device one at a time."
"Jamf Pro is superior to MDM on an Apple platform."

Cons

"Enrollment into the Microsoft Intune service can still get easier, especially for legacy-managed systems, such as how we get it from a GPO or an SCCM configuration into Intune."
"Although Intune is from the same provider, its integration with other Microsoft products, like Microsoft Defender or Microsoft Purview, could be improved."
"There are a couple of issues with stability."
"Historically, Group Policy has simplified the management of various items, such as printer and drive mappings and while Intune offers workarounds, it lacks native support for these functionalities. This is an area I believe needs improvement."
"When you have a pressing issue, there is a lack of response. I believe Microsoft support needs to work on the response aspect."
"Intune could be improved by expanding its third-party patching capabilities for a more comprehensive solution."
"I expect Microsoft Intune to have more features in the cloud because there are two major functionalities that we need to be added. This is software metering and license management."
"If your MDM has to be really specific, perhaps Intune is not the better option."
"We would like the initial setup to be simpler."
"MobileIron UEM could improve the monitoring of devices."
"The disadvantage in connection with Windows devices is that the pushing of policies takes some time."
"It was not an easy initial setup for us. It was a bit difficult and not really straightforward."
"I also found the UI to be quite complicated to work with, so it takes quite a bit of time to train any new staff and to get them to understand how the solution works."
"The release of new versions often goes in the wrong direction with Ivanti. The test team or the testing procedures are flawed because they release new versions with numerous basic issues."
"The integration between the MobileIron and Advanced Neurons isn't completely in sync, and we're still working on that."
"MobileIron UEM could improve the monitoring of devices."
"I would like to be able to see what policies and configuration profiles are tied to what Smart/Static groups."
"Every once in a blue moon, we wind up with a rarely-seen superbug that takes support weeks to months to solve."
"I would like to see a separate reports area where an actual report is compiled and able to be printed."
"Screen time setup is so required. I want to set time up for screen times for categories."
"The on-going improvements and innovation that Jamf provides over time is something that needs to be maintained, as it is what is needed to fulfill a business and team need at the right time."
"I would like to see tighter integration with Jamf Protect in the future releases of Jamf Pro."
"The solution should offer beta testing for new products."
"Patch Management needs work to be efficient."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is cheaper than our company's other MDM tools."
"Intune is inexpensive. It also comes bundled in some Office 365 licenses, so you can choose to purchase it separately or as a package."
"The pricing needs improvement."
"Intune's pricing is competitive. For example, the license of Blackberry's Enterprise Mobility Suite was costly, but Intune is affordable. It is included as an additional feature when you buy security enhancements for your organization. For example, let's say I have fifty users in my organization and all of them are using Microsoft cloud services, like Teams, Office 365, and OneDrive."
"I rate Intune five out of 10 for pricing. It's expensive."
"While Microsoft charges for actual usage, it lacks discount options."
"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"We don't pay for Intune because it is bundled with the premium subscription to Office 365. It includes Intune and Defender. I don't have to buy two extra products to manage my enterprise."
"My impression is that MobileIron is very expensive."
"The price of MobileIron UEM is very good."
"The cost of Jamf is certainly worth the investment."
"If you have the in-house capability to support Jamf, then paying for onboarding / JumpStart training is a no brainer."
"The price of this solution is a bit high but it is worth the money for the features. There is an annual license for the use of this solution."
"The setup is pricey upfront for support and setup."
"With respect to pricing, Jamf Pro is the better bet."
"It seems fair. It could be a little bit less, but you have to pay for a product. You can't get something for free. You get what you pay for, so if you put in a little bit of money, you're going to get a good quality product."
"We have signed a licensing contract for three years. There is an option to buy an annual license subscription, but we opted for three years as it came with a 25% or 30% discount."
"The licensing costs for this solution are high."
