The best feature is that it's a Microsoft product, so if anything goes wrong, we get quick support for anything required. Remote system functionality allows us to sit anywhere and take control of any device via remote management. We can enhance security for clients' laptops with built-in Microsoft Defender, which is available with the Microsoft Intune license. We use it for reporting purposes through endpoint analytics. When pushing scripting, there are two types available: remediation script and reservation script. Through endpoint analytics, you can push defender policies to clients. It helps with reporting, inventory updates, and monitoring tenant status health.

Seamless provisioning and application deployment enhance workflow, yet enhancements in asset and software spend management roles are acknowledged
The zero-touch capability where you can install all the business applications and deliver the laptop to the user, who just needs to log on to complete everything without any human intervention, are the best features in Ivanti Neurons for MDM. We have security features, patch management, compliance reports, and dashboards integrated within Ivanti.

I have not encountered many areas for improvement, but there are feature requests submitted to Jamf Pro for reporting purposes that they are working on. Jamf Pro continues to increase its capabilities. One improvement I would recommend is integrating Jamf Setup Manager as an inbuilt feature. Currently, it is a separate tool that needs to be installed and integrated with Jamf Pro. Having zero-touch capability as an inbuilt feature would eliminate the need to work with scripts and configurations. The pricing of Jamf Pro is relatively high. Jamf Pro does not have a fixed price for all organizations. Based on my experience, they offer discounts inconsistently. Due to the high pricing, many organizations are moving to InTune and Workspace ONE. There are many other tools in the market for Mac OS device management, such as ScaleFusion, Addigy, and Kandji. Small organizations are moving to these alternatives, and larger organizations with fewer security concerns are moving to InTune. Despite being expensive, I still rate Jamf Pro highly because of its security features and comprehensive management capabilities for Mac OS devices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features are the ones that make sure that the deployment is of a standard operating system and the Zero Touch deployment, which is very useful. This allows users to have an out of box experience."
"As an IT administrator, I appreciate Intune's ability to implement granular device-level policies for our organization's employees."
"It saves time, money, and resources; when there was a local liaison, managing everything was a significant challenge, but with Microsoft Intune, it has become much easier—around 60% to 70% easier—and in terms of reliability and ease of use, it excels."
"My favorite feature about Microsoft Intune is that I have good logging capabilities; I can effectively troubleshoot, though I'm also missing some aspects."
"Based on my experience, I find Intune very flexible for managing Windows devices. We can use scripting, and we can make use of the self-service portal or the company portal to publish some of the applications for Windows."
"A valuable feature is user enrollment, where users can enroll their devices in their organizations themselves."
"We can implement a MAM policy in this Intune and protect the device through mobile application development without touching it. The interface is easy to use and understand."
"The ability to manage devices with different sets of policies is most valuable."
"The most valuable feature is that everything is in one place, which makes it easy to manage."
"The most valuable features of MobileIron UEM are tunneling and enterprise integration."
"The most valuable features of MobileIron UEM are tunneling and enterprise integration."
"MobileIron UEM is a scalable solution."
"It's effective in what it is able to achieve and it's easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is that everything is in one place, which makes it easy to manage."
"The products are quite good when they are operational."
"The user interface is user-friendly."
"Self-service, because there's no need for IT Support (scripts/software, etc.) Zero-touch enrollment for delivering an awesome (it's my MacBook) experience."
"The self-service portal to share scripts and other tasks that have extremely minimized the need for calls to our support teams, or even sharing the applications we package and allowing users to pick and choose what apps they need or want, instead of just blanket installing everything from our old environment."
"First, we used another MDM solution, but we haven't been satisfied; we researched alternatives and found Jamf Pro and we are so happy now."
"Jamf Pro has positively impacted my organization by being better for rolling out iPads and Macs; it would be the best in terms of rolling out the updates, apps, and even setting up a device."
"Jamf has improved patient care and our ability to be more productive when delivering our end-users a nearly zero-touch onboarding experience for their Macs."
"The remote wipe and lock features are by far the best tools."
"After a year of testing and perfecting the Jamf we got it to a point where each device is now zero-touch deployment, saving the IT department so much more time and effort and dropping our Helpdesk tickets by about 40%, making it easier for us to focus on more important tasks."
"It has made it easy to track and update devices, I love how easy it is to use, and the support is the best in class."

Cons

"It would be better if I could integrate it with my core group policy. I would like to have a group policy in my current environment, which has strict control, but those things are still missing. Although it has maximum compliance and security, it's not available on-premise."
"I would like to see micro VPN. I like the way that some of the other providers have done something similar where, as you open that app on an end-point device, it creates a micro VPN straight into your device, which is quite a nice little feature. Also, Microsoft Intune relies heavily on its fellow products in the suite. It would be nice if Microsoft Intune could stand on its own two feet."
"China blocks Google and Google Play Store, which makes installation challenging. Microsoft Intune is a company software, which has to be installed to the app portal or Microsoft Software Center."
"Microsoft needs to strategize its licensing structure. When using Microsoft Intune, we bought a small scale of controls, only controlling part of the devices, though Microsoft Intune can do much more. The Intune Suite offers more features, allowing extensive integration with either internal or cloud environments without requiring third-party licensing. However, each feature has a separate license, making logistics and cost management difficult if not strategically bundled together."
"From my level of analysis, the feature I would prefer to see added to Microsoft Intune is extensive support. Anything that helps to diagnose the problem and solve it would be useful."
"I would like to see better integration with Microsoft."
"The installation is very easy. However, to be able to configure it you will need special knowledge, such as training or self-studies to have a proper level of security. There are many settings one has to understand before being able to implement Microsoft Intune."
"The downsides of Microsoft Intune include the fact that the interface can sometimes be complex for new administrators."
"The release of new versions often goes in the wrong direction with Ivanti. The test team or the testing procedures are flawed because they release new versions with numerous basic issues."
"UI needs an upgrade, feels very outdated."
"The MDM, asset management, and software spend management are areas that could have more improvement in Ivanti Neurons for MDM."
"We would like the initial setup to be simpler."
"MobileIron UEM could improve the monitoring of devices."
"I also found the UI to be quite complicated to work with, so it takes quite a bit of time to train any new staff and to get them to understand how the solution works."
"It was not an easy initial setup for us. It was a bit difficult and not really straightforward."
"The disadvantage in connection with Windows devices is that the pushing of policies takes some time."
"I think that there should also be more integrations with Jamf that could better the intelligence-gathering when making business decisions."
"A more modern UI in the next release will make the product absolutely perfect."
"There are known issues with the mobile configs that need to be fixed."
"The solution needs cheaper training."
"We had some issues with its integration with other products, such as Intune. There were some issues with the way you have to register your device into Intune."
"Sometimes the Jamf's cloud-hosted servers feel like they could be a little more powerful."
"In some places, GUI could be more reactive."
"The patch management is not automated in any way, and you have to do a lot of manual work to upload the current version of applications."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Even if they charge a premium, they aim to provide equal value."
"Its licensing model is not complex, but it is very expensive compared to other solutions. They can bring more models and reduce the pricing. They should allow customers to select the features they want and price it accordingly."
"Microsoft licenses are costly."
"It comes with the E5 plan. We bought the E5 plan from Microsoft."
"The product is relatively pricey, but considering its benefits, I'd say it's fair. The benefits outweigh the expensive licensing fees, especially for large organizations, but medium-sized and smaller businesses may be unable to afford it."
"While Microsoft charges for actual usage, it lacks discount options."
"We work with the subscription rather than a server license. I think it's economical this way because we don't have to have a server license for that, and I think that works in our favor."
"While I can't provide insights from a business perspective, it's worth noting that the pricing may differ significantly, and the discount we received might not be reflective of standard business rates."
"The price of MobileIron UEM is very good."
"My impression is that MobileIron is very expensive."
"The price of a training pass for five people was $18,000 USD."
"If you have the in-house capability to support Jamf, then paying for onboarding / JumpStart training is a no brainer."
"The price of this solution is a bit high but it is worth the money for the features. There is an annual license for the use of this solution."
"The cost of this solution is expensive but worth it."
"The only thing that is kicking us a bit is the rand to the dollar exchange rate. It is priced in dollars. Every time the rand goes worse, it just costs more. I would rate it a four out of five in terms of pricing because it is very unpredictable because of the rand to the dollar exchange rate."
"It would be beneficial if it could be reduced slightly."
"Setup and licensing prices are getting to be too high."
"JumpStart is available at an additional cost."
