I mainly use G Suite for keeping notes and the calendar. I also use the productivity tools or applications that belong to G Suite and the free email service as well as the Chrome browser to search Google.
CEO/CTO at Xandor Systems
The apps are intuitive, easy to use, and highly responsive
Pros and Cons
- "Everything is synchronized across every single device you use to access G Suite. That is why we like it."
- "And I think Google Translate could add more features. For example, it could be integrated when typing in a document or a web browser like Grammarly."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Everything is synchronized across every single device you use to access G Suite. That is why we like it. Also, the apps are intuitive, easy to use, and highly responsive. Gmail and the Chrome browser are the two tools we use the most. We also use Google Drive to upload and store files online.
Many of the other tools are useful. I often access YouTube for personal use, but I seldom use Google Maps because I prefer Waze. Instead, I use the translator and the tool for managing photos. I use Google Keep for taking notes and also Meet because, in the business world, you need to use various tools to host web conferences with customers, vendors, and for personal use. I don't use Google Hangouts, though.
What needs improvement?
I think Meet is not as well-positioned as Zoom. That application needs to be enhanced to make it more feature-rich and easy to use. It's easy and has all the essential features, but it's not as popular as Zoom. And I think Google Translate could add more features. For example, it could be integrated when typing in a document or a web browser like Grammarly. I use Grammarly to review the way I write English, and the services included in Grammarly are excellent. Or translation features could be embedded in all the Google applications. It would also be helpful to use translation offline when you are using a desktop, tablet, or cellphone that can't access the web.
For years, everyone has been expecting Google to add a real-time AI interpreting service where you can speak in your language, and Google translates it into other languages for other users. For example, you have a cellphone or web instant messaging integrated with free phone service. They could also use translation services to make it easier to communicate among people because not everyone knows exactly different languages. So I can speak in Spanish, and you understand me in English because you listen to me in English. And if you need to ask something because you are not clear about anything that I said, you can ask a question in your language, and I listen to you in my language.
It would be an excellent service for Google. They already have a global scope and their own platform. Google has an advantage because it is at the top of the internet services. They aren't the leader in all services, but they are well-positioned as the top searching engine. Google could seize other opportunities to develop and deploy some other services we are hoping for and make things easier for everybody.
For how long have I used the solution?
I don't know precisely how long, but we've been using G Suite for years. I think we've been using it since Google launched those services — before Google started branding this set of apps G Suite. I don't know when they decided to bundle their solutions into G Suite and Plus. Google is the leading provider of internet services, so of course, I use applications from Google.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
G Suite's performance is good. It's highly stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Google has many data centers, and their services are in their cloud. The performance in all of their applications is excellent. I can't say a bad word about G Suite.
How are customer service and support?
I haven't ever needed to use Google support because everything works. I don't remember when Google has locked a service or went down due to a bug. So I think they produce excellent applications. They have an excellent approach to quality, testing, and user satisfaction. Google keeps things as simple as possible.
How was the initial setup?
G Suite applications are all web-based, so you do not have to download anything. It's simple compared to some other products.
What other advice do I have?
I rate G Suite nine out of 10. I highly recommend it. Google email services have been helpful for us. I worked for the second-largest public university in Costa Rica, and there was a need to have thousands of active email addresses. It's complex to configure all of them yourself and maintain an email server. Google email offered an effortless way to implement the email for more than 20,000 different addresses that needed to be opened every year. I would say Google Mail must be the most used application globally. Google Mail is a great application, and the service is suitable for personal or enterprise use.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Support Engineer at a manufacturing company with 11-50 employees
A stable, secure, and seamless product that enables efficient communication and collaboration
Pros and Cons
- "Google Chat is the most valuable feature of the solution."
- "The product could improve the number of participants allowed in a meeting and the strength of the meetings."
What is our primary use case?
The product is a SaaS platform that helps us work remotely from anywhere in the world with just internet access. We can send emails and collaborate with friends. It is a secure workspace.
What is most valuable?
Google Chat is the most valuable feature of the solution. We can communicate with our domain users effectively. We can share documents and content and have quick meetings. We can collaborate with friends securely and seamlessly without downtime.
What needs improvement?
The product could improve the number of participants allowed in a meeting and the strength of the meetings. It can also improve the sending limit.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for the last four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The tool is stable, secure, and seamless.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The product is scalable. Around 400 users are using the product in our organization.
How are customer service and support?
I have asked many questions to the support team when there are any struggles with email deliveries. The support provided was satisfactory.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment is a lengthy process.
What about the implementation team?
The deployment process depends on the platform we use. If we had used a different platform before, we would have had to migrate users’ drive, email, and calendar data to Google Workspace. These processes then lead to change management because most users are unfamiliar with it. I don’t need staff members to deploy the solution.
The time taken for deployment depends on the user base. If there are 300 users, it can be done within 15 days. The solution does not require maintenance, but an administrator is required to manage the users, configurations, and policies.
What other advice do I have?
The product provides updates on a regular basis. We chose the product because Google is growing in its user base and security. The tool is easy to use, and we can leverage the product. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Business Operations Analyst at a tech services company with 1,001-5,000 employees
User-friendly with a good user interface and an easy setup
Pros and Cons
- "The initial setup is very easy."
- "I'm not sure if Google Drive has a customizing feature, however, if it did, then it would be better."
What is our primary use case?
I use it for mail purposes. I use Gmail and I use it for mailing people. I also use Google Slides for presentations and Google Sheets for data. It also has Google Docs, which I use for documents.
What is most valuable?
Its user interface is great. It's user-friendly. You don't have to look for support when using it.
Even the presentations and the docs, when you need formatting, it's all available there. Its reliability is very good and it syncs with the cloud.
We can mutually work on a document. It's great for real-time editing.
The initial setup is very easy.
What needs improvement?
I haven't come across any area that's really lacking.
I'm not sure if Google Drive has a customizing feature, however, if it did, then it would be better. We'd like the flexibility of customizing the way you want it to look.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. Its performance is good.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a very scalable product. If you need to expand, it's not hard.
We might have about 90,000 people using the solution.
How are customer service and support?
I've never had to contact technical support.
How was the initial setup?
The setup was very simple and straightforward. The deployment was on the cloud, so I did not have to do much. All I needed to do was activate the account to be set up and everything was on the cloud already. You just need a password and username to get started.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I don't deal with licensing. I can't speak to the exact cost.
What other advice do I have?
I'm a customer and end-user.
I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using.
I'd recommend the solution as it is very easy to use. I'd rate it a nine out of ten based on its user-friendliness and easy setup.

Senior Manager/ Co-Founder at a consultancy with 1,001-5,000 employees
Great integration of features; could be more user friendly
Pros and Cons
- "Convenient to share and collaborate documents."
- "The UI could be simplified and made more user friendly."
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case is for emails, document creation, managing and storing documents, and using the administration console for managing user access. I'm the founder and a partner in the company and we are customers of G Suite Enterprise.
What is most valuable?
This is quite a typical solution in the sense of the standup email functionality. The convenience is being able to collaborate on Google docs at the same time on the same document without any issues figuring out which is the latest version. I also like the integration of documents, Google Drive and Gmail. We use Google Meet, and obviously Google Calendar. It's a good integrated environment and I use all the different components. The collaboration functionality in the cloud and in terms of working on documentation makes it all very convenient. It satisfies our needs as a small startup company that has quite ad hoc usage.
What needs improvement?
The administration aspect, including the UI and implementation, could be simplified and made more user friendly. I have one integration issue which is when you reply to an email, there is no option to create an event, which is something you get in Outlook. Events need to be created separately, which is unnecessary, and that's one specific point that recently caught my attention.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for a few months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This is a reliable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I haven't had the chance to scale because we are only three users with a small number of files to manage, but I wouldn't expect any issues.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have never communicated with support to date, but my perception is that it's not very easy to reach out, meaning that they don't have a straightforward way of calling or chatting and contact is usually by email. There is a lot of documentation online so if there's any problem, issue or question, you google it, and try to find the answer on their technical documentation.
How was the initial setup?
I found the initial setup not very logical, the way the administration consults are done, it's a little complicated. I know this is very straightforward in Outlook. In a practical sense, the set up was easy. We just created the users within our organization, set up their email addresses, the permissions access, and it was fine. It took a few hours and it's on cloud so we didn't need to install anything, we just had to configure, set up users, give permission for the subscriptions, that was it.
What was our ROI?
In just a few minutes we were able to set up the email, storage, and have the tools to create and manage documents. We have conferencing software so everything is available immediately in a few clicks. You save a lot of time not having to configure all these things separately, it's in one package and on the cloud. I see that as ROI, because we don't need to spend time on tedious administrative tasks.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
This solution is subscription based. We took an annual subscription which costs less than a monthly one. It was pretty affordable. We were choosing between Microsoft and Google. I don't remember which one was more expensive. I think Google was cheaper, and if I'm not mistaken, the price was $6 per user, per month. I'm not aware of any additional costs.
What other advice do I have?
If you're in a similar situation to us, with a small company, especially a startup or maybe a small team that needs to manage their corporate email, team email, their documents, and have access to some web-conferencing software and so on, it's a good tool. It takes a few minutes and you're set up, with all the infrastructure. We were creating our own domain to create our corporate emails and we could have gone for Microsoft or Google. My preference would have been Microsoft, but for some reason, from our country, that wasn't an option. For user experience, G Suite is still a good solution.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Consultant at a tech services company
Users can work anywhere with an internet connection
Pros and Cons
- "There are several online forums and a lot of support materials online."
- "Good performance, even on relatively slow connections; no local apps required."
- "Users can work anywhere with an internet connection."
- "Reduces IT spend, freeing up cash for other areas: sales, marketing, recruitment, etc."
- "Some concerns over security, but there are moves to address this and provide admin tools to secure content and adhere to data protection regulations."
What is our primary use case?
Email and suite of productivity tools for business users. It can be a good alternative to MS Office 365. A lots of add-ons available to add full CRM functionality and a variety of tools to help run your business.
How has it helped my organization?
- Fast to set up and easy to use for most users.
- Mail and drive work well on mobile.
- Good performance, even on relatively slow connections; no local apps required.
- Users can work anywhere with an internet connection.
- Reduces IT spend, freeing up cash for other areas: sales, marketing, recruitment, etc.
What is most valuable?
- Great mail client with fast search and a lot of storage.
- Drive storage makes it easy to share documents and collaborate with co-workers and others outside the organisation.
- Google forms are great for questionnaires and surveys.
- Good integration with Android devices.
What needs improvement?
Some concerns over security, but there are moves to address this and provide admin tools to secure content and adhere to data protection regulations.
For how long have I used the solution?
More than five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
G Suite is generally rock solid, but there are inherent risks with any cloud solutions. Internal hardware, networks, and communications are more likely to be points of failure than Google's own infrastructure.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
G Suite is mostly used by SMEs, but with Google's infrastructure and new enterprise features, there is no reason why G Suite could not be adopted by the largest companies.
How is customer service and technical support?
There are several online forums and a lot of support materials online. G Suite administrators on paid-for subscriptions get access to support by telephone, email, or chat.
How was the initial setup?
There can be some complication if migrating from other providers. A lot of online training materials are available and there are many independent vendors and consultancies that can help with it.
What about the implementation team?
Our in-house team is experienced in installing and configuring G Suite in a variety of scenarios. There are many reputable vendors who can provide setup, migration, training, and/or support depending on your requirements.
What was our ROI?
There are several areas where a G Suite implementation can reduce costs: lower license fees than some competing products, reduced hardware, and IT support costs.
There are also other benefits that can provide a competitive advantage, e.g., improved productivity (with appropriate training), increased collaboration (with correct use of tools), flexible working - work from home or remote locations, easy to scale - fast onboarding of new employees, and ability to add and remove licenses, as required.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
G Suite and Microsoft Office 365 offer products with similar functionality at several different price points. Zoho offer a more extensive range of products and attempts to provide all the applications required to run most small and medium-sized businesses.
Careful consideration should be given to the different licensing options and provisions should be made for additional applications that may be required for your particular business. As with all cloud solutions, bandwidth is key and budget should include a provision of sufficient bandwidth to support the required number of users. Traffic management tools may be required for larger setups and should be included in any pricing calculations.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
G Suite competes with Microsoft Office 365 and the Zoho suite of applications, which provides solutions for virtually all business activities including Sales, Marketing, HR/Recruiting, Accounts, Project Management, Customer Support, and more. Each has its own strengths and can be great solutions for different types and sizes of businesses.
What other advice do I have?
G Suite can be an excellent solution for many organisations, but there are several factors to consider before implementing any cloud-based solutions. It is best to get expert advice before committing to any particular vendor's product suite. Whatever solution you decide on, make sure you invest in training to get the most from the products. There are no magic bullets, but well trained users will be your best business investment whatever applications you decide to use.
Disclosure: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer: We provide cloud solutions including G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Zoho One.
Commercial Sales Manager at a tech services company with 51-200 employees
Flexible, fast, and responsive
Pros and Cons
- "The solution is very stable."
- "We need more functionality with Google Sheets"
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use the solution for file sharing, document creation, spreadsheet creation, presentations, and email.
What is most valuable?
The speed and response time are the most valuable aspects of the solution. It's always quick and available. I haven't had any outage problems or anything like that. I don't think there's ever been a time when it's been unreliable.
The solution is very stable.
It can scale well.
It's very flexible.
What needs improvement?
We need more functionality with Google Sheets. Sometimes I find that, since I've used Excel in the past, there's not as much feature parody between Microsoft's Excel and Google Sheets. Excel seems to have more features than Google Sheets. That's probably true with Google Workspace overall. It just doesn't have as many features and isn't as feature-rich as Microsoft Office.
The learning curve is a bit higher on the solution than, for example, Microsoft Office.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for a year and a half at this point.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's a stable, reliable product. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. The performance is good. We've never had any lag or downtime. It's a very responsive solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have found the product to be easily scalable.
How are customer service and support?
I've never had to deal with technical support. I'm not sure how helpful or responsive they are in general.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I've used Microsoft options in the past.
Google Workspace is probably more scalable. The learning curve is probably deeper for Workspace, however, once you understand how to use workspace or G Suite, it's quicker and more responsive than Microsoft Office - and more flexible.
How was the initial setup?
I don't deal with the deployment or maintenance aspect of the solution.
What other advice do I have?
I'd advise potential new users to just make sure that the functionality feature set will meet the needs of the organization and then make sure that the organization trains or at least enables the workforce with the resources they need to make the most out of the solutions.
I'd rate the product eight out of ten overall. I've mostly been pleased with its capabilities.

Senior Project Manager / Project Director at three6five network solutions
Great search features, reliable storage, and it's quick thinking
Pros and Cons
- "Good search features, reliable storage, and quick thinking."
- "Expensive with a complicated licensing structure."
What is our primary use case?
I'm a customer of G Suite Enterprise and a user.
What is most valuable?
Personally, I find that Google meetings and the Hangout application are much easier to use than Microsoft Teams. If I send a customer a Zoom invite or a Google Hangouts invite, it's easier than joining a Teams meeting where an alternative account of mine might be chosen causing confusion. It means I have to close the program, exit everything, restart, log into the correct email address, and then rejoin. It's complicated. Hangouts is easy, and if you have more than one Google account, you can choose which account you wish to use. These days, more people work for more than one company, so it makes sense to be able to switch between accounts, depending on who you're engaging with.
What needs improvement?
I'd like to see some changes; working with images inside a doc can sometimes be irritating because it doesn't move the way you'd like. It lacks an auto-fill feature and when you drag down a number, it doesn't auto-fill. Alternatively, it assumes you want to add a digit onto a value that you don't really want. Microsoft has a copy option where you don't auto-fill, Google Sheets doesn't have that feature. The solution has a complicated licensing structure and it's expensive, especially for small businesses. Their Word and Excel packages are not as powerful as Microsoft, but not everybody needs that.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's stable, I haven't had any bugs or issues. They're on top of it.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Licensing is complicated, you can't just buy a license and have access to all the packages. You buy a license and get five packages, but then if you need something else it requires another license, it's annoying. I understand why they do it but as a small company, you might want to use the video once or twice a year and it requires purchasing a license for a year just for that. A per-use fee would be better.
What other advice do I have?
This solution has everything you need. It's got search features, it's got reliable storage, card features it's got quick thinking, it's awesome.
I rate this solution an eight out of 10.
